4 has always been the creepiest to me. The introduction of fluid enterable buildings combined with all the abandoned places, like the casino, the hospital and all the others all combine to make a “dead” atmosphere that oozes tension.
@@zaimbaig5832well they had literal aliens in 5 so I think it's fair to say you should get your hopes up. There will probably be a ghostbusting game mode for online where you spray down spirits or zombies or some shit. I think 4 did its spookier elements far better, way WAY in the background to the point of genuine obscurity like with ratman
Surprised you didn't mention the abandoned Sprunk factory. I remember people saying they saw ghosts inside it. Never saw one myself, but there's no denying that the atmosphere in there is spooky af. Even if you visit it in the middle of the day.
You will hear voices shouting at you if you shoot inside the abandoned factory, thing is, those are just the bouncers from the strip club nearby. A lot of people took that as proof that the building is haunted.
If anyone can bring genuine enjoyment to the insanity of this decade and a half old masterpiece, it’s Fizhy. Thank you for always putting out amazing content
4 has always been more "horror" to me than other Gta games. The dark setting, the dark story, the statue of happiness is truly horrifying, the "rat man" the random dead bodies in the tunnels, the baby pram, Eddie low.....it's definitely got the creep factor
Amazing and creepy, because compared to III, the Liberty City in IV seems to have a form of sentience. Both welcoming and forbidding in its various ways.
@@abaialsa712What does that have to do with anything..? Like why his sexuality anyone's business and for that matter why should you or anyone else care who this guy does or doesn't fuck..?
I remember watching those old school myth hunter videos as a kid and they kept me awake at night lol. Makes me kind of wish these were all real, like you can actually encounter ratman but it’s just extremely rare with a 0.5/chance of him spawning per game load.
Haha remember seeing that if you shot each of the chains with a rocket the heart will fall and the city would go into darkness and all the npc's would start fighting eachother lol
20:45 Regarding the "zombies" myth, it's worth pointing out that's it's the one myth that actually has some merit to it. Initially GTA 4 was supposed to another videogame other than QUB3D, which was called Ressurection Z. However, it was cut and the only things that remain of it are some HUD elements and weapon icons of an AK47 and a revolver. There is also the multiplayer zombie player model, which probably uses the zombie groan sounds in the files (not sure, since I never played multiplayer) but I don't know if it has any relation to Resurrection Z.
Love your videos dude. Im getting out of my seasonal depression and have your vids on in the background while I do some spring cleaning. Thanks for all that you do.
What’s interesting is the age one discovers the game at, I’m 29, so playing in 2008 with mates after school, the tension certainly wasn’t dead but rather was vibrant & never before seen NPC life, we simply couldnt believe how life like it was/is. likewise while graphics look aged at that time the graphic were simply revolutionary. Combined with great narrative & side characters like little Jacob u can see how elite this game was especially experienced at that time as well as now. I don’t see it as dead but what I would say it there is a gritty atmosphere & gritty dark tone, which I also love. 5 is very very good & fun but this is rare quality
The scariest part of this game is the internet imo Sometimes I would go to do a mission and just get caught up reading all of the insane posts on forums or websites in this game, especially since some of the people you can actually encounter like Eddie Lowe having a blog and reading it, and then actually meeting him and realizing "no way is this the guy from online?..." Always liked that
Oh man childhood meme unlocked cause GTA 4 was always eerie within the city and some neighbourhoods. ID NEVER STOP in the docks or near Bohan. Never walked around Charge island as I felt someone knew Niko was there.
Thanks fizhy! I know it’s not much but it’s all I can give… I really appreciate your content… it has gotten me through the hardest hardships of my life and I appreciate you for it! Keep em coming!
@@Fizhy hey I know that man but time is precious and all the time that you put into this great content deserves some recognition, and it’s the least I could do after all the quality content you put out, consistently for some time, and the countless times it’s just helped me to tune everything else out for a while. No better red dead content out there and I have been loving all the gta 4 videos of late. All the best man! For real man you have a talent for narration and I’m sure I’ll see (or hear) you on some great documentaries in the future!
I remember when my brother told me about the Tarzan myth and I sat and played the game all night running up and down the train tunnels trying to hear the scream
@@Fizhy yeah man if I remember correctly you would have to find a shrunken head then when you picked it up “Tarzan” was supposed to chase you through the train tunnels screaming and you had to escape to unlock something idk what tho
I love how these myths force you to explore the game and areas in a totally different way. Even go to areas you would never go to except to find this kind of stuff
When I tell you that your RDR2 videos convinced me to purchase and play RDR2, I mean that 200%. Your cadence, visual storytelling, and general video production makes me want to play games I’ve never played before. You’re fantastic dude..Anyway, can’t wait to play GTA IV soon.
9:22 I'm not old enough to remember the My Space era, but from what I've heard of it that's pretty accurate. Actually now that I think about it I might be just barely old enough to remember, but I didn't have internet at home so same difference.
Gotham was the original name of New York while it was being indutrialised if I'm not mistaken? And rockstar love American history. So it's fair to say they had similar inspirations
You would think with as many times as they have released GTA 5 in the last decade we woulda got this on the PS4 at least once, hell they would make at least a billion letting people play it again on the new systems
The urban legends of GTA IV have always been very interesting to go back and look at. Ratman is probably the best known myth in GTA IV. Once you hear about Ratman, you never forget about him.
i thought gta 4 content these days was just random game capture clips or underwhelming retrospective videos making the same 3 points about why it was a masterpiece so its refreshing to watch this
Speaking of that, that’s why I think that Easter egg is a reference to Jasmine Richardson story, Jasmine Richardson was a 12 year old goth girl who killed her parents and little brother along with her 23 year old boyfriend AND she had a MySpace account where should talk about killing her parents, the Easter egg is just too similar to the story.
@@kvthegameaddict8404 I just looked her up. Damn she was hot. She looks 19 in all her pictures not 12 which is worrisome. I can't believe she was actually 12 with a 23 year old BF.
I still remember me getting a helicopter and entering the Statue Of Happiness by accident, and when i climbed that latter and saw the Statue Of Happiness's heart it was insanely creepy i was terrified lol
I‘m one of those crazy people, who have seen a UFO in GTA San Andreas. General consensus is that there are no UFOs in GTA SA, except for the airplane lights in the sky. But i swear i witnessed an actual UFO easteregg. It was somewhere in the general area around the Big Ear. I saw it fly passed above me around the same altitude that planes fly at. It was pretty fast and since the view distance on the ps2 is very limited it vanished quickly. I remember it looked very similar to the one at the Lil Probe Inn, but it had red circles on the bottom side. I know there have never been found any models or textures for a UFO in the game files, but its shape was so simple it could have been generated from code easily, like it is often done in the demo community. It certainly would be a genius easteregg to put in the game. One that happens so rarely that people think you‘re crazy if you witness it.
Liberty City in IV felt oddly foreboding to me, even if I was armed to the teeth. It's as if the soul of the city absorbed the zeitgeist of the era and boiled it down until only the darkest parts remained.
Gta4 online multiplayer changed the game. I grinded to get my level 10. That black helmet was a must have to be less visible and reduce head shots drastically. Where are all my level 10 miltiplayers at??!!
Genuinely can’t think of any other video game franchise that has such a surplus of myths and legends. Honestly it can be applied to R* games in general, I remember seeing stuff about werewolves and ghosts in Bully.
GTA 4 is the most realistic GTA game ever. I don’t understand why a lot of people complain about the driving when it’s really easy to drive without it feeling like a Boat. I don’t know how they manage to crash into everything when I’m holding RT as hard as I can and still can push the breaks LT in time to not hit any cars and can make perfect turns.
I think the vampire story comes fro. A murder that happened in my home town "medicine hat". An under age girl (14 i believe) was dating an adult they spoke on forums about being vampires and ended up killing the girls whole family... Didnt know this was in gta IV
That’s what I said, it’s just too similar to the real story, her name was Jasmine Richardson she was actually 12 and she killed both her parents and little brother with her 23 year old boyfriend and she also had a MySpace account
I saw the name Aiden O'Malley on the list at the start, about a minute into the video, and I realised that that's the name Dutch uses in chapter 5 of RDR2, I didn't realise until now that it's someone in GTA IV/a reference to GTA IV because I don't know a lot about the ins and outs of GTA IV but it's cool that they did that especially after so long between the games, you gotta have respect for Rockstar
True story, if you hang out in one of the cemeteries for 3 in-game days, at exactly 12:00 midnight, you will hear a ghostly Dutch Van Der Linde voice yell out "we need more money" and something about a boat to Tahiti.
I believe the textures change in the lost and the damned but I really can't remember, but you could use a tool to see what the Graves really say@@Fizhy
I hope there'll be a Ratman cult in the subway system in the next LC game. Still no actual sighting or evidence, but a group of people based on the players who have been hunting him for years. In the meantime, maybe an NPC on the street in GTA VI who will claim to have seen him
In one of those V/H/S/ movies there was a short story of a similair ratman. Other than that a great video keep up the great work👍 And greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱
I miss that sweet spot of gullibility, the ability to say "thats totally fake" for like three, and then still falling for a bunch of others, maybe running into some smaller thing, building the courage to walk to a part of the map and wait, even if it results in nothing. I love these kinda videos as i start indie DEVing, i want to hide this kinda shit in all my projects.
Wow there’s even lore to the actual world, I glossed over at 13/14 years old all this. If Sleeping dogs & mafia II are the club Seiko of watches then gta 4 is the omega , Rolex , Cartier . Love that , honestly just roaming in free roam with mates cruising , parachuting , observing the detailed world spaces & NPC’s , not doing a great deal , was insanely fun . It felt like a technological leap . Can’t wait for 6, it may not be this goat , but in a technology level gta 6 is sure to revolutionize just as this did
In most cases it might be a texture things on the graves, but if thats the case there is some kind of other error. as one of them would say "born Jan 20, 1847. Died Jan 17 1843" Most likely an error when the texture was made, but still fun to question if its someone centuries old, or someone that died years before they were born
I know for a fact the Kate McCreary ghost is real it's most certainly a glitch but I remember as a kid playing this game and doing the revenge ending after so many ingame weeks I got a call from her asking to hangout trippiest thing that's happened to me in gta4
