I used to work security that ride bikes in that district.. the Historic Core BID (Green shirts) Our command post was next to The Last Book Store and it had underground tunnels. We once walked down there and saw old bank vaults. It was creepy, we got a bit lost and when we went up the wrong staircase, we ended up being inside The Last Book Store. Furthermore, I knew a guard that worked the at Alexandrea Hotel on 5th and Spring, above the Down N' Out bar and he said that the tunnels underneath that hotel were creepy and haunted. Same for the business on Broadway street, they have underground tunnels.

Wait a sec. The LAST Book Store is right next the the Cecil Hotel, (The Stay on Main) right? 🤔 I'd been wondering if there were tunnels either in or very near The Cecil for a while now.

People commit suicide at the alexandrea relatively often. I used to work on 5th and spring in 2009 and someone jumped off the building one morning

A friend of mine and his wife enjoy doing open houses, not to buy building they could not afford anyway, but to see the architecture, decor, etc. in the DC area. They went to one in a Maryland suburb about five years ago that had a huge living room two storeys high; the bedrooms were on the second story and had a walkway all around overlooking the main area below. The owners had been living there for several years until they needed plumbing work done. As plumbers will, they bashed in walls to find the source of the leak. In a hall closet by the front door, they found the pipes needing repair, along with a staircase going down. The owners knew the house had a basement, but only under the rear half; this basement not only took up the entire front half of the building, but continued out under the entire front lawn: in that cave was both a bandstand and a bar. Another bar was in the part under the house. The place had been a speakeasy in the 20s. Dancing under the lawn where the neighbors could not hear the band, serious drinking in the front basement, and other entertainment upstairs. Gentlemen occupying couches in the living room cast their eyes heavenward, not for salvation, but to take their pick of ladies of negotiable horizontality strolling around the walkway above. Yes, it was the 20s' answer to the one-stop shopping center for sin.

You should see the underground tunnels in Charlotte, NC. They connect all the bank HQs to the Federal Reserve Bank. A few tunnels have doors that still connect to the old mining tunnels that run all over downtown Charlotte. Those doors are rarely opened and only serve to drain the tunnels in case of flood, which has never happened.

I’ve explored many tunnels with my father around the old bank district area. (4th and main st) Many of them are sealed off to the public, but these historic buildings are a city of their own. FYI, many of these building around the district connect to King Eddy’s saloon.

There are a number of houses up in the Hollywood hills that have tunnels that connect to other houses. There were also a number of ships that would leave out of long beach and sail out 20 miles off the cost so people could drink. Floating speakeasy's.

@@accimesylvia1129 A number of years ago, some time in the 90's, I remember a friend of mine was renting a little one bedroom on a hillside near I think Echo Park or maybe Griffith Park I don't remember exactly but it was of of Riverside Drive. There where a number of little bungalows and studios kind of nestled together on this hill side and below them at base was Riverside Drive and there where a number of private garages that kind of went into the hillside a bit. I just remember one day that I went to visit my friend and the whole place for like 5 blocks was all evacuated and the bomb squad was working out of one of those garages. Apparently this guy who owned the garage had secretly tunneled back into the hillside some 300 feet or so, don't quote me on that number as I'm recalling from memory here but it was pretty far into the hillside to say the least. The tunnel passed right underneath probably half a dozen residences including my friends house. After this guy burrowed all that way into the mountain and did it without any one finding out he bunkered it out and started stock piling explosives in it. Not just a little bit but like a national guard armory bit. He had kegs of black powder and gun powder, C-4, dynamite, ammonium nitrate and cases upon cases of ammunition, as well as Claymore mines and other military grade hardware. Then there was his gun collection of hundreds of guns of all different makes and models. The guy had been working for 8 years (again don't quote me on that) digging it all out by hand all by himself. I'm not sure how he was found out but apparently there was enough explosives packed in that tunnel that had it gone off It would have taken out all of the houses above it and would have sent the two classic cars parked at the front of the garage rocketing out like cannon balls from a cannon. I have no idea why this guy was hording so much explosives or even how he got his hands on the explosives but all of those people living there on top of that ticking time bomb had no idea it was even there. I'm a firm believer in the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms but I think this is out of control. It's a crazy F'd up world we live in.

These tunnels actually ran all the way through 12th street under the public works building, but it has since been sealed and concrete poured in. Businesses used to use them back in the day to transport money because they kept getting robbed on regular surface streets.

The fact is there are tunnels like this all over the world not cause they were dug out yes some have been dug as extended areas for the newer metro trains etc but almost every city in the world has these it why we have a sewer system in the first place, the sewers weren’t some advance plan that was blue printed dug out and built by us, these places were all once street level and as things changed ground was moved through earthquakes and for intentional plans to build on and around all the older buildings some were knocked down to only the recent street level leaving the remains of old aqueducts and sometime the bottom floor witch would’ve been street level for the past civilization and also the basement would be left over and when more things were built on top of the remaining bottom floors they’ve now become the basements and underground tunnels of our civilization, basically our ground level Im most places starts on what would’ve been the 2nd story or 2nd floor of the past civilization, where our streets our could be build directly over one half of an old building essentially leaving small corridors and hallways that turn into random maze like underground structure, big picture and what the mainstream narrative want you to think was an intentionally built dug out that was made during prohibition, is really the outcome of the people we call founding fathers who found and rediscovered lands and continents with remains and infrastructure that had already been built and was left over and they laid claim on it built on and around the older remains tore down and or repurposed and restored some older buildings cause of the sturdiness of the old architecture it was so hard to knock down the left the bottom floors as somewhat of a foundation to build on it was hard enough breaking down the exposed parts of the buildings with wrecking balls so the portions that were buried usually the original bottom floors of the older remains were built on top of, I’m sure during the prohibition these were used but that’s not the original reason for them being there, what the mainstream won’t tell you is there were left over structures all offer the world from past civilizations, no Christopher Columbus came and discovered an empty wilderness land and started building from scratch there were remains everywhere, long before any founding fathers came, the natives here were using already built trains and tracks from the civilizations before them, and most lived in buildings like any other people yeah some lived off and on the lands but most of the photos you see of natives living in teepees are because they’re were oppressed and removed from place to place forced to have to live in their versions of tents when the white founders came and decided to take over they’re called that for a reason cause they found and some inherited it from there ancestors who were encouraged to come here and repopulate the and repurpose the already left over stuff I can go on about all kinds of other details and proofs for what I’m saying, do some research and thinking of your own cause if u just take everything the powers that be tell you at face value and think that their narrative is anything more than a BS story to create a history that ultimately makes u feel like your free in a free country instead of being actual modern day paid slaves for your masters and controllers who throw you change of the dollar for the labor you do while reaping the true benefits profits and fruits of your labor, while you live in a debt cycle paycheck to paycheck for most with no real money or valuables or private owned property for most, you may own ur house but you still pay mortgage on their land and are under their control while also paying for the basic necessities that the earth makes for us in abundance, yet you depend on the people who’ve taken control of those basic needs and sell them to you as if they have some Devine right to own and take control of things that come free, and put there hands out to collect, who gave them that right, to make you dependednt on them, don’t believe that, then ask ur self this, why to they teach or even encourage agriculture, if we were really free that would be the first thing we learned in school so we could all go home and be self sustainable collecting rain waters and growing our own foods not having to buy and eat there poisoned foods from markets we depend on, look at the food we eat and the health rates in America alone you think that’s not intentional to keep you sick so u go to their hospitals and take their medicines and your teeth rot an you go to their dentists, your money has no value, it used to be a silver dollar or 50 cent piece was worth is weight in silver or copper of gold 50$ bars money was a currency when it was backed in precious metal in the amount of its value, but they collected all that kept and horde it for themselfs while you work for IOU worthless paper and coins that aren’t worth the metal they’re made out of, and now it’s just an imaginary number in a computer system they control, when that’s gone then what they can freeze or crash the system whenever they feel like it but as long as you work so u can get you imaginary credit, then they’ll keep trading there modified versions of food water and everything else you don’t really need for your labor in advance so the few can get richer and richer and you remain depended on them for all things and if that doesn’t give you a a visual of the big picture, where can u go with out being subject to their imaginary boundaries checking in and out everywhere u go that they allow, and your not even checking in you luxuries you pay for are doing it for you, but your not a slave, sounds like house arrest to me but they give u a big piece of land so u think your free, but so would an animal in an enclosure that was big enough…. Go ahead and marinate on that. The facts of life…

It says there are two replies to this comment, now there should be three including mine but when I expand it I'm only shown one reply. I came back to this video because I got a notification that someone replied to one of my comments. It was a bit of an off color remark but nothing to crazy but when I read the replies there it's no where to be found. It showed up in my E-mail and it shows it's there in regards to the amount of replies but again when I expand the replies it isn't shown. Why youtube do you feel it is your job to police the conversations taking place here? OK. I can understand taking down comments attacking others for race and religious bigotries so this place doesn't turn in to a cesspool but arbitrarily ghosting peoples comments that you don't like, the ones that challenge the carefully crafted public narrative is taking things to an Orwellington level of suppression and is in my opinion unacceptable. This platform was developed as a censorship free place to share and express ideas and opinions that otherwise would have died in the wilderness never to have been heard or seen. It was left to the people to filter out the BS. This kind of censorship is exactly what the developers rallied against. RU-vid knock it off.

Most people think LA has no history. But its full of history . Take the names of some of major streets in LA . There are names of people in the LA's past. Not to mention the names of the neighborhoods.

The fact is there are tunnels like this all over the world not cause they were dug out yes some have been dug as extended areas for the newer metro trains etc but almost every city in the world has these it why we have a sewer system in the first place, the sewers weren’t some advance plan that was blue printed dug out and built by us, these places were all once street level and as things changed ground was moved through earthquakes and for intentional plans to build on and around all the older buildings some were knocked down to only the recent street level leaving the remains of old aqueducts and sometime the bottom floor witch would’ve been street level for the past civilization and also the basement would be left over and when more things were built on top of the remaining bottom floors they’ve now become the basements and underground tunnels of our civilization, basically our ground level Im most places starts on what would’ve been the 2nd story or 2nd floor of the past civilization, where our streets our could be build directly over one half of an old building essentially leaving small corridors and hallways that turn into random maze like underground structure, big picture and what the mainstream narrative want you to think was an intentionally built dug out that was made during prohibition, is really the outcome of the people we call founding fathers who found and rediscovered lands and continents with remains and infrastructure that had already been built and was left over and they laid claim on it built on and around the older remains tore down and or repurposed and restored some older buildings cause of the sturdiness of the old architecture it was so hard to knock down the left the bottom floors as somewhat of a foundation to build on it was hard enough breaking down the exposed parts of the buildings with wrecking balls so the portions that were buried usually the original bottom floors of the older remains were built on top of, I’m sure during the prohibition these were used but that’s not the original reason for them being there, what the mainstream won’t tell you is there were left over structures all offer the world from past civilizations, no Christopher Columbus came and discovered an empty wilderness land and started building from scratch there were remains everywhere, long before any founding fathers came, the natives here were using already built trains and tracks from the civilizations before them, and most lived in buildings like any other people yeah some lived off and on the lands but most of the photos you see of natives living in teepees are because they’re were oppressed and removed from place to place forced to have to live in their versions of tents when the white founders came and decided to take over they’re called that for a reason cause they found and some inherited it from there ancestors who were encouraged to come here and repopulate the and repurpose the already left over stuff I can go on about all kinds of other details and proofs for what I’m saying, do some research and thinking of your own cause if u just take everything the powers that be tell you at face value and think that their narrative is anything more than a BS story to create a history that ultimately makes u feel like your free in a free country instead of being actual modern day paid slaves for your masters and controllers who throw you change of the dollar for the labor you do while reaping the true benefits profits and fruits of your labor, while you live in a debt cycle paycheck to paycheck for most with no real money or valuables or private owned property for most, you may own ur house but you still pay mortgage on their land and are under their control while also paying for the basic necessities that the earth makes for us in abundance, yet you depend on the people who’ve taken control of those basic needs and sell them to you as if they have some Devine right to own and take control of things that come free, and put there hands out to collect, who gave them that right, to make you dependednt on them, don’t believe that, then ask ur self this, why to they teach or even encourage agriculture, if we were really free that would be the first thing we learned in school so we could all go home and be self sustainable collecting rain waters and growing our own foods not having to buy and eat there poisoned foods from markets we depend on, look at the food we eat and the health rates in America alone you think that’s not intentional to keep you sick so u go to their hospitals and take their medicines and your teeth rot an you go to their dentists, your money has no value, it used to be a silver dollar or 50 cent piece was worth is weight in silver or copper of gold 50$ bars money was a currency when it was backed in precious metal in the amount of its value, but they collected all that kept and horde it for themselfs while you work for IOU worthless paper and coins that aren’t worth the metal they’re made out of, and now it’s just an imaginary number in a computer system they control, when that’s gone then what they can freeze or crash the system whenever they feel like it but as long as you work so u can get you imaginary credit, then they’ll keep trading there modified versions of food water and everything else you don’t really need for your labor in advance so the few can get richer and richer and you remain depended on them for all things and if that doesn’t give you a a visual of the big picture, where can u go with out being subject to their imaginary boundaries checking in and out everywhere u go that they allow, and your not even checking in you luxuries you pay for are doing it for you, but your not a slave, sounds like house Another Saturday morning made complete! Your videos are the best thing since Scooby Doo! The viewer really had the feeling of "Are we in the right tunnels...?" as you were exploring, which was cool, giving the sense of being in there with you. I will definitely have to check out the King Eddy. They should clean up the Speak-Easy room a little and offer $2 tours or something because I'm sure everyone asks about it. My one question is are there any connections to the tunnels from King Eddy still today? Best line: "But there's still a sense of debauchery in the air..." Lol!

People today just don't seem to realize just how much money prohibition brought to organized crime and it's brother, politics. Mayors, judges, police cheifs, even governors and their underlings. Los Angeles and 'the mob' were very well connected under such people as Mickey Cohen and Benjamin 'Bugsy' Segal as well as several Mayors, judges, and a numbers of LA police cheifs. LAPD was 'The Gang' one had to go through in order to have any kind of illegal activity in Los Angeles. There are a number of articles online covering this subject. One particularly interesting story is that of Clifford Clinton (the founder of Clifton's Cafeteria) and his fight with corruption in LA. www.kcet.org/shows/departures/clifford-clinton-the-man-and-his-cafeteria-shaped-food-and-politics-in-la

At the end of my senior year at Pasadena High School in 1967, I went to a beer party following an awards banquet. We went to a California-Spanish house on the north side of New York Drive, in Altadena. It was empty of furniture and was owned by one of the kid's families. One of the gang asked to have the host "show Potter the basement". He took us to a master bedroom, opening a large, cedar-lined walk-in closet. He moved a hidden lever and the floor hinged up, revealing a staircase. This led to (really, this wasn't a dream) a series of brick-walled and paved walkways, open to the underfloor structure. One led to a full-height vault door, open, and showing a wood-paneled room with empty shelves. Another led to a barred, covered tunnel and the last led to the rear of the house. The host explained that this had been a secret gambling casino for the Altadena Country Club, due south of the house. The barred opening led to a tunnel that ran down to the Club, since filled in about 50' down. When the family bought the house, they removed a layer of carpeting in the master bedroom, showing indentations in the old carpet where the roulette table legs had stood. We went back up and continued the party. It all had to have been real, I guess.

and fruits of your labor, while you live in a debt cycle paycheck to paycheck for most with no real money or valuables or private owned property for most, you may own ur house but you still pay mortgage on their land and are under their control while also paying for the basic necessities that the earth makes for us in abundance, yet you depend on the people who’ve taken control of those basic needs and sell them to you as if they have some Devine right to own and take control of things that come free, and put there hands out to collect, who gave them that right, to make you dependednt on them, don’t believe that, then ask ur self this, why to they teach or even encourage agriculture, if we were really free that would be the first thing we learned in school so we could all go home and be self sustainable collecting rain waters and growing our own foods not having to buy and eat there poisoned foods from markets we depend on, look at the food we eat and the health rates in America alone you think that’s not intentional to keep you sick so u go to their hospitals and take their medicines and your teeth rot an you go to their dentists, your money has no value, it used to be a silver dollar or 50 cent piece was worth is weight in silver or copper of gold 50$ bars money was a currency when it was backed in precious metal in the amount of its value, but they collected all that kept and horde it for themselfs while you work for IOU worthless paper and coins that aren’t worth the metal they’re made out of, and now it’s just an imaginary number in a computer system they control, when that’s gone then what they can freeze or crash the system whenever they feel like it but as long as you work so u can get you imaginary credit, then they’ll keep trading there modified versions of food water and everything else you don’t really need for your labor in advance so the few can get richer and richer and you remain depended on them for all things and if that doesn’t give you a a visual of the big picture, where can u go with out being subject to their imaginary boundaries checking in and out everywhere u go that they allow, and your not even checking in you luxuries you pay for are doing it for you, but your not a slave, sounds like house arrest to me but they give u a big piece of land so u think your free, but so would an animal in an enclosure that was big enough…. Go ahead and marinate on that. The facts of life…

There’s way more tunnels then that all the old school LAPD cops in the area know all the entrances. That’s like 10% of what’s there

At the now Wells Fargo center building aka Crocker center in DTLA in the parking on P4 level there are lines carved in the cement floor that curve like a road and Leeds straight to what seems like a concrete wall the end of the level 4 parking but it’s not it’s a hallow wall and there’s a small hole on it to the left bottom and if you see in you can see what looks like an old subway tunnel it and if you go even more down to P-5 on one wall there is a door behind that door there is a huge tunnel that goes underneath the building to the other side and continue on to the Bank of America building or cal 1 not sure which one

Not sure if it qualifies as an oddity, but there was a "Hawaii Theater" at 5941 Hollywood Blvd.

Thanks for the suggestion! We're always looking for new places whether they can be classified as an "oddity" or not :)
