Corrections 1) Yes, "old" people do find this on RU-vid. That is how I watched this video. 2) Utica is half Italian and half Polish. You missed the best food on the west side of the city!! Real kielbasa not fake stuff. 3) Holland Farms for half moons, fingers, headlights, or other goodies. 4) Utica Club now brews Saranac not the other way around.

Napoli or Holland farms for tomato pie, the Utica Brewery for a nice Utica Club or a saranac soda, Holland farms for half moon. Utica is full of lots of culture and a lot of people don’t realize that.

you gotta come back. check out Joes Pizza in Whitesboro its not too far from Utica. On your way from Utica to Whitesboro hit Oriskany Blvd and stop to Holland Farms in Yorkville to get Half Moons. Swing thru Pulaski Meat Market on Lennox Ave for some amazing Polish Food. it is a deli so you cant eat there but they have amazing food from Kielbasa, Pierogi, and Golumpki and pick up some Kruschiki, while your there pick up a few Tyskie and Zywiec beers too. theres a lot of Polish Roots in Utica as well as Italian.. but there is sooo many other food cultures in Utica too. Utica so many different ethnic groups and its what makes it great.. Oh ya and just one more thing, UC brews Saranac not Saranac Brews UC...

Great video. My wife is from the area and her roots run deep in the area so they share their favorites with me. Only place I've gone to on this video is Utica Coffee Roasters. My favorite greens are from Georgio's (Georgios greens), pusties would have to be from Florentines, tomato pie is Rosa's. You should also try Bundy wings over at Packy's Pub in Washington mills. A stones throw from where you were stopped at the light with McDonald's. As far as half moons, as someone mentioned above, I love heading to Holland Farms in the morning for some coffee and donuts.

Thank you for visiting Utica. The next time you return (there is a ton that you left untasted), please let some locals guide you. There is so much more for you to experience. This is especially true with regard to the cuisine we've acquired over the past 20 years: Bosnian, Karen, Cambodian, Somali, and much more. Interestingly, it's all acquiring a Utica style. Utica Bread is a must-eat. And The Tailor & The Cook is another mandatory stop. Then, there is our tremendous farm-to-table movement. You've got to tap into what our skilled and passionate farmers and chefs are doing with this. When it comes to chicken riggies, there are so many variations that you should return just to sample the variety. It's mind-blowing!!! When you do this, be sure to get into a couple of homes. Our "civilians" are awesome cooks. PS: You guys eat like a boss! Kudos to you all!

Forgot Florentine Pasty shop, Joe's pizza in Whitesboro. I left in 75 or 76 before chicken Riggies were invented. My mother used to make them before they had a name. Used to have simple steak and greens in any restaurant for late night or to cure a hangover. Holland Farms for big coffee and bran muffin, Voss's in Yorkville. Cavallo's in New Hartford for wings. Hapanowitz for Kielbasa. Chanatry's. N.Y. Bakery, Kallet Drive in Marcy. Spaghetti / Pelliteri Joe's. Dandee Donuts, Kewpees long gone. West End Seafood company in West Utica. Tomato pie in every corner grocery store 5 cents a slice. The Busy Corner by the Boston Store where I froze my Ace off any a night waiting for a bus.

A very long time ago I lived in Oneonta. The One Pizza place there was called "Mosca's" ... and it was absolutely GREAT! Anyway I moved to Utica and in the early / mid Sixties was introduced to Oscugnizzo's Pizza and it was Equally as Great! When I went back to Oneonta for a visit I told Mrs. Mosca that I found a Pizza as unbelievably good as Mosca's!!!! The joke was on me when Mrs.Mosca replied "That's where we learned to make our Pizzas" !!!! True story

Good stuff, but you missed a few great ones. I once lived in Utica, and by far the best place we and everyone else at work would go to eat is Tom Cavallo's. Technically a mile out of Utica in New Hartford, the best wings I can ever remember having.

Nice job except Utica Coffee is owned by a fascist, who objected the Feed Out Vets from buying the old Running Hall building. Claiming nefarious individuals will be hanging about with trash and boxes all over the street. Then upon being confronted , and asked why the owner called police and stated he had been threatened, that was a lie! To make himself look better, The cops contacted the guy who confronted him, and threatened arrest , all because the guy exercised his 2nd amendment rights of free speech. The owner was not threatened, the caller was old and DISBLED with a spine injury! Utica Coffee did not know that. Just an average scumbag, if in Utica -stay away !

You need to look up the 2nd amendment. Your high school social studies teacher failed you.
