Welcome back Ari! Another valuable lesson!

This is amazing. If you treat it as if this is real life, and you had an opportunity to sit down with Ari Hoenig for 10 minutes, you can really tap into how valuable this is. Also, the more I check out really great drummers (I've been on a Brian Blade kick lately, and this thought started with him), the more I realize that fundamentally, they just play. Their technique grows organically out of what is natural to them, and a lot of it is just time spent and trusting your own direction... I'd been working on the finger technique for a while now, and it's just not really me, I revert to my native playing when I feel I'm really playing my best...but I thought maybe the way I played wasn't as "legit", and I was trying to absorb that technique (and change my grip at the behest of a teacher). So it struck me that he has the confidence to just be like "yeah some guys do it like that, but it's not really the way I do it". This helped me realize that the great players just play (and cultivate their technique according to their natural approach)
