Hello my friend thanks for sharing this wonderfully put together vide from the footage to the music this was a really enjoyable watch . the views are amazing , what a great world we sure do live in . Keep safe Love and Light Sarah and Glenn
Thank you Sarah and Glenn. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the adventure. We really had a fun time exploring and making this video. So fun!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care and have a great day. 👍😀
Oh wow, never heard of this memorial site. How sad. Nice you paid respects. Love the drone footage in this video!! Such an amazing view from up there!!!
Thank you. Tragic story. This story gained national attention in the news during the several days when he was trapped. If it interests you, you can watch the movie in the description link. It gives a great tribute to him and his family. We are glad you liked the video and drone footage. We had a fun time on our adventure and making this video. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.😀👍
@@Packsalot I would watch, but I have a huge fear of being trapped so don't think I could watch it. I must have a fear of news or reporters or something too, cuz I don't watch the news either. Which would probably explain why I've not heard of it. But thanks to your video, I know about it now.
Thank you. We decided to take a leisure day and just go truck exploring the area. Many areas I had been many times but some were the first for Kristy. Fun to get out. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care.
LIke 16, an another great video from you! I definetely would like to visit there one day! Just unique vegetation in Utah, new experience for me . And you have also nice shots from above 14:45 with peaceful background music and i just love it! Many thanks for sharing! Have a great day! See you soon again!
Thank you very much. Utah does have a lot of diversity from deserts to high elevation forests and mountains. I'm glad you liked the video. What part of Germany are you from? We had an exchange student once from Germany. Pretty neat. Take care and have a great day.
@@Packsalot i'm from south-west of Germany and live in around the capital city of Baden-Württemberg! It is one of sixteen States in Germany ! See you next time and have a great day! :-)
All kinds of beautiful scenery! I always like to opt for the exercise. 😊 Love all the dronage.... Great music choice too. LOL - love the random cow. 🐄 Cool tunnel. Great video!! 👍😀
Thank you. Exercise was needed to work off the donut I ate while driving there. LOL. "Dronage", way to go Jim Hayes for coining the word and you keeping it alive! We had a great time making this video after such a fun adventure. I was going to make a Chik-fil-a commercial with the cow and some captions bubbles but Kristy gave me the raised eyebrow and the eye roll. LOL. Glad you enjoyed the video. Take care and keep exploring too.
You are funny, Jason. She has been wanting to get out a bunch lately. Pretty fun and I'll take it. However, I'm wanting to do some ice fishing with you the first part of year. This month is pretty busy though, with my son coming home from Fort Rucker during the holiday break. I love this colder weather too as long as it is not windy. See you soon.
Thank you. This cave has been a popular one for decades. I believe it is volcanic or geyser like. Before they sealed it up, it used to vent warm humid air and was muddy inside. Sad story of the caver but the movie is worth watching. It is a great tribute to his life. Pretty cool. Take care and stay safe out there.
@@Packsalot Just started watching the movie tonight. Really brings a somber reality to the site. Thanks again for sharing your visit and recommending the film!
@@RuggedMile I'll probably watch it again myself. It has been a few years since I watched it. I remember it being super sad but on the flip side I liked how it highlighted life rather than dwelling on the tragedy. Take care.
Thank you. It was a fun outing with some bravery needed. I figure the bridge was strong enough to hold a train should be good enough for us! LOL. Thanks for watching. Take care.
Thank you. We had fun putting this video together. It was fun just messing around and exploring for a change. The plaque and movie were a great memorial of this caver. Back to hiking, fishing, and backpacking soon. Take care.
Loved the bridge. Pretty much disused. The tunnel was awesome Steve. can you imagine the time it took to dig or dynamite it. Eeeek! Pretty steep descent. Chimney rock looks pretty cool. Just as well they filled the hole in. What a sad story. Great adventure, thank you for sharing. Seasons Greetings.
Thank you, Jojo. We had a really fun time just messing around and exploring. This is a fun area to mess around. Sad story indeed. Great memorial though. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care and have a great day.
Thank you very much. There is plenty to see here. The big 5 National Parks and everything in between. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care and have a wonderful day.👍😀
The trestle bridge walk was awesome. How could you walk without looking down? The rocky climb down is definitely an adventure itself. The tunnel drive is so cool. An inspiring sad story of John. Never seen a cave opening at the top of the mountain.
Thank you. I had to be careful on that bridge with the gaps between the railroad ties. It is pretty fun to drive through the tunnel. I've done it a couple times. Climbing Chimney Rock is fun too. I have been there many times while camping with the youth from our church. It is a fun favorite for the kids. Sad story about John for sure. They really did a great job on the movie telling the story. Thanks for watching and take care.
Ok.... You can’t be telling us to be careful when Mrs. Packs-a-lot is doing a yoga pose on the side of a cliff, when you’re taking drone footage! 🤣 Probably one of our favourite videos❤️! Great intro, music, thumbnail, drone shots, abandoned train tracks and tunnels.
Thank you. No kidding. Kristy loves adventure more than me sometimes. She wavered a little with that yoga pose when the drone flew by. I would have fallen for sure! 😁 Glad you liked the video. We had a great time exploring and making the video. It was so fun. There is a whole bunch of abandoned mines in the area. Those tracks and bridge serviced them at one time. The mostly abandoned mining towns of Dividend and Eureka are close by along with the many mines and shafts. Cool area to explore if they are not fenced off and marked no trespassing. Thanks for watching and commenting. Take care and be safe out there on your explorations. 👍😀
Thank you very much. Utah sure does have a lot of various landscapes to offer. I'm glad you enjoy it. Maybe you can come visit Utah someday. Take care and have a great day.
That's a cold morning to get started! Fun to see your exploration and drone footage. :) The wide open spaces are beautiful!! Too bad about the man who got stuck... very sad. The train bridge looked a bit sketchy! You're brave!!
Thank you Jennifer. We had tons of fun on this outing. For sure the cave incident was a sad story. I had a few invites to go in the cave before this incident happened, I refused to go in every time. I was too chicken. I'll take my bravery on the bridge instead! Take care.
@@JenniferLupine Above ground works for me! No planes, no below water, and very limited unconfined below ground for me. Boots on the trail and fishing line in the water! The holiday is coming quick but I'm way more excited about seeing Owen on the 19th (home for x-mas break from National Guard Training), plus I'm going to be a grandpa on or about the 18th. Yay! How about you guys?
@@Packsalot Well, that is super exciting! Two happy arrivals! We’re doing well, family is spread out so we’re going to be zooming and FaceTime-ing quite a bit! Hoping to do more in-person visiting in 2021! 🎄🎄⛄️⛄️
That looked an Icey sunrise, beautiful but dam chilly. Mrs Metalman would hate that bridge, to much space in-between the sleepers for her. Some feat of engineering getting through that rock to build that tunnel and that was a sad reading of the passing of John Jones but nice that he is remembered and so too the people who tried to rescue him. Cheers Alan
Thanks Alan. Yes indeed, it was a cold morning and below freezing. that bridge was a little sketchy to walk on for sure. Sad story about John but a great memorial. This west desert of Utah County is a fun place explore. Thanks for coming along. Take care and have a great day. 👍😀
Random cows are always nice to see, lol. love the simplicity of that railroad bridge, would it pass todays standards, lol. You are getting good with the drone, my friend. I just love Utah, so much diversity
Thank you Wiley. That bridge was simple but plenty strong. It was fun to check it out. Trips like this I'm able to mess around with the drone and hone those skills. I'm still learning though. Thank you and have a great day.
John Jones's Story is a sad one. I had a hard time watching the various RU-vid videos about it and had to force myself to watch the Movie, which was an amazing tribute. Contemplating driving out there today from SLC, don't know why but really feel the need to go there.
Thanks for watching. It really is a sad story. I just finished watching the film again. It gives me anxiety but it is a good watch and fabulous tribute. I really hope his family is doing well. Take care and have safe travels if you head there.👍
I went down into Nutty Putty back before the guy died there. I was a teenager at the time and did NOT want to go any deeper than the first bend--it was too tight and I was terrified of getting stuck. I waited in the first area while my family went deeper in, and I'm glad I did. Luckily nobody got stuck on our trip but I can definitely see how John did.
Thanks for watching. I hear ya on not wanting go through there. I was invited to go a few times but declined every time. I did go in about 10 feet it seems but that was far enough for me. I came right back out and waited for the group. Too bad about John. Such a tragedy. However, great tribute in the movie and the memorial that is at the entrance now. Glad your group got out ok. Take care and have a great day.
Thanks Kevin. We are glad that we inspire you to get out. Make sure you take us with you, though. We could use another excuse to get out again! 😉 We had fun putting this video together. Glad you liked the video. Have a great day.
Thanks Colton. This was lots of fun. All of it was within an hour or less drive from home. It is cool just to explore places instead of the typical hiking, fishing, and backpacking. However, I've been itching to do all of those things. I'm hoping that the first of the year will yield some free time to get out again. This month is pretty busy and will probably just be these short excursions somewhere close for a half day. I'll be sure to text you when I'm free to head out on an overnighter. Take care buddy. I hope all is well.👍😀
Getting pretty skilled with the ol drone steve.. adding the epic music was a good touch 👍. Kept waiting for some spy to parachute in or something 🤣. Very cool history under your feet!
Thank you Casey. We had a great time killing time and exploring. I'm loving the drone. So fun. Funny comment. From the way California governor is being stupid and having everything all locked down you might need to sneak out of there like an undercover spy to get some fishing done! I hope all is well with you and your family. Take care and have a great day. 👍🙂
@@Packsalot we have been thinking of going fishing in the cover of darkness 🤣. Crazy times. The girls are staying positive for now. Hope you and yours are doing well too.👊
@@Packsalot On two different occasions in high school we made plans to go out there, but once we ended up having car trouble and the other time we got there and there were already quite a few cars parked there so we bailed. Wish we would have at least gone in a little.
Love the location of that rail road bridge. I live in utah county and would love to explore that location. Are there directions somewhere that I can look up to go there?
Thanks for watching and commenting. Awesome to hear from locals in the comments. I'd love to tell you where we went. Just send me an email and I can give you GPS coordinates. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day.
I really enjoyed your video especially the railroad bridge. These types of things have mostly disappeared over the years due to weather and vandalism. When I was young I went to a place not too far from Topaz where there was a least one fairly deep hot spring and even a covered wooden building to change your clothes if you wanted. I don't remember the name of the place and can find no mention of it in any book or anywhere on the internet. I was just wondering if in your travels you have been there or if you know it still exists.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I love exploring these kinds of places as well as the hiking, backpacking, and fishing we primarily do. Over the years I went to Topaz Mountain only one time. I spent most of my time North more closely to the Pony Express Trail. However, I think the hot spring you are referring to is called Baker Hot Spring. It is located halfway between Topaz mountain and Delta. I hope that spring is the one you are remembering. I did see some old building or structure ruins there. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful and Merry Christmas. Take care.
@@Packsalot Thanks for the reply but it isn't Baker Hot Springs. The place I went was like a large rock volcano and it isn't on the internet or in any books.
Thank you Max. The bridge and tunnel service gold mines in the area that have since been abandoned along with parts of the historic town of Dividend. Chimney Rock and Nutty Putty Cave were and still are popular destinations for those who like to explore the west desert. Sad story of the caver. I refused to crawl through that cave on a number of occasions when I was invited to go. Too scary for me and rightly so. The movie really did a great job of telling his story and giving tribute to his life and family. Just follow the link in the description to watch it if it interests you. Take care and have a great day.
Those drone shots are cool. How come you didn't do a yoga pose on top of that hill? Hahaha I would have busted my butt. My wife would have sounded just like Christy on the old rr bridge. It's a shame about someone dying in the cave. Not all adventures turn out like we think. Cool place y'all
Thank you Tony. If I were to have done yoga there, I would have lost my balance and fallen off the cliff for sure! The ties on that bridge were loose and bit sketchy in parts for sure. "Shrek, I'm looking down!" Ahhhhh! LOL. The cave mishap is a really sad story. However, the movie they made is a real tribute to his life and tells the story of the incident. It is very interesting and a free watch if you follow the link in the description. Glad you liked our adventure and video. Take care and have a great day.
That was a really sad story about Mr. Jones. On the up side that was one cool tunnel and the dronage was fantastic! I kept saying ''Nutty Butty'' instead of Nutty Putty,Lol.
Very sad story of a Thanksgiving day tragedy. This incident gained national attention in the media when it happened. The movie they made really gives a nice tribute to him and his family. You can watch the movie from the link in the description if you are interested in watching the story. I used to think it was called it Muddy Putty. At least until I saw it written down somewhere. Nutty Butty is funny too. I wonder what that would look like? 🤔🤣 You noticed that I used your word, Dronage! I give you all the credit though. Thanks for coming along on our adventure. Have a great day.
That is awesome. I have not explored dividend much as it is all posted as private property. It is still a cool area. Neat to know about the plumbing. Thanks for the info. Have a great day.
Sorry to hear. It depends on where and what you do while you are here. I guess it is what you make of it. Hopefully you can find good somewhere. Take care and have a great day.
