Gold Butte National Monument is a large swath of desert about two hours northeast of Las Vegas. This 300,000 acre national monument is great for those who like to get out and explore. You can find some really fun pockets of adventure and plenty of solitude throughout Gold Butte National Monument.
One unique spot in Gold Butte National Monument is Whitney Pocket. Whitney Pocket is actually one of the more sought out spots in the monument and also one of the first "semi-developed" areas that most people encounter when visiting. Though you'll encounter people parked around the rocks, enjoying ATV's, and even camping around the rocks we didn't run into anyone while we were up climbing around on the rocks.
As you can see in the video, the rocks piles in Whitney Pocket are great for some good ol' desert rock scrambling. And the vast desert views aren't too shabby.
