The XAOC Devices Moskwa II Rotosequencer is a sly powerhouse of sequencing fun. Its expander, the Ostankino, adds some extremely creative possibilities that can drive modulation or events in your system as well as completely change how the Moskwa responds. Let's dive into what makes this sequencing system special and how you might use it!
Grab these both at Perfect Circuit:

Great explanation and demonstration, but seriously: Outstanding patch, so playable. You could get lost in it for hours. Sweet choice of modules to show off Moskwa II and expansion module! 👍

Damn, Jeremy, you really know how to make those Noise Engineering oscillators sing. Xaoc's new sequencer looks like a lot of fun! I wish I had enough HP to spare in my case for one.

I do like it’s so much easier to figure out than many, but 420 is kind of high! If I saw it for 300 I would get it. That’s what it’s worth to me anyway! lol another great video Jeremy!

If you have not yet done so, give VCV Rack a try. It's a free software Modular synthesizer that is just amazing. Many real world modules are available.

Your demonstration of this sequencer was absolutely outstanding. Before, I thought this was just some weird, esoteric design, but it's got SO much playability that I never would have even considered. Whenever I get into modular, I might genuinely consider picking this up as my first sequencer. (Ground Control is my ideal one, but yeah $800 is a lot harder to save up for, lmao)

Long time viewer, first time commenter. This was MAGICAL!! I was considering buying a Qu-Bit 'Bloom' in recent weeks, but this video just transported to a galaxy far far away from the bloom! Awesome awesome overview and jam! Question: Would you consider the 'Bloom' as a budget alternative to this Moskwa II +Ostankino II setup?
@elecsoul8309
@elecsoul8309 3 года назад
Different beasts, Bloom is my main sequencer. It's a great 2 track sequencer that is very playable and is actually similar to this... in terms of changing play direction, clock division and start point etc. All things that are great for playing live. Its special force though is the fractal thingy which ends up giving great variations sometimes, but other times not so much. This looks super tasty and with the trigger out and CV in options I think I can be pretty creative but only has 1 track and a rather large footprint.

check out the Bastl Popcorn, it has some similarities but cheaper and scaled down
@MrMarcLaflamme
@MrMarcLaflamme 3 года назад
Ahhh that micro pattern feature was what I was hoping Qu-Bit would add to Bloom (the ability to keep the timing of each beat individually or fit the micro steps into the top level beat) if that makes any sense. Ratchet vs repeat.

I don't understand anything that's going on, but I like sitting here nodding along like I do. Also I thought the words under MOSKWA were 'ritual sequencer', making me think it was some dark magic device. The arcane complexity to my uninitiated mind means it may as well be.

It seems like only a few months ago* that you first dipped a wary toe into the vast ocean of modular synthesis, and now look at you! Well and truly down the modular rabbit hole. *It is certainly a lot longer than a few months, but has it even been a year yet?

@thomas_ad

I’m sold for a performance sequencer. Seems like for generative stuff, using the step record and first & last step mod are important to get more raw sequence variation. How are you flexing it for gen stuff?
@nelen_co
@nelen_co 2 года назад
I'm having trouble on the reset. I can patch it manually but I haven't been able to figure out a good signal to just keep it plugged in and start with the sequence.
@BenODen
@BenODen 3 года назад
Help help. error 604, bank balance too low for that envelope. Once again, this is a great exploration of the combination of all things to grand effect! Are any of these sequencer modules combinable for chord sequences?
@RedMeansRecording
@RedMeansRecording 3 года назад
Arpitecht has a sidecar called triad which is perfect for that. Otherwise you can use shifty to create chords from the output of any sequencer

It occurs to me that a 1-8 passive mult might be a handy thing to have with this - I think it should work backwards to route multiple 'step' outputs to one mod source?
@RedMeansRecording
@RedMeansRecording 2 года назад
I think you mean adder. But yeah.
@boydw1
@boydw1 2 года назад
@@RedMeansRecording Yeah, I guess there's purpose intended adders out there. I suspect the passive mults are just jacks wired in parallel, and with presumably no two steps happening simultaneously, I think would work fine - prob cheaper and easier to find.
