I've played Palstreon's EA for the past two league. Both times it was strong start, did all content and even some uber bosses (but for ubers its better to play something else, regular - still ok). Commenting only to appreciate Pal and i would recommend this build and overall Palstreon gives non-baited fair guides which is for some reason rare for poe content creators on youtube.
I actually used this build to kill multiple ubers, so it's definitely viable to do so. Got 24 challenges with it last league (my cap on challenges before was about 8 as I generally suck). Probably will still start with it this league, but mostly just to get some farming done so I can work on a true end game build for the first time ever.
@@dd2hcyes, you don't need for ubers, but if it can - then it's a good sign that means that it can scale some decent DPS and for people who play 1-2 builds per league.
I just started a league start test with your ea build from last league. I played like 5 leagues so far and always just chose one of ziz's guides. This time I wanted to change it up and play a starter that not everybody and their mother use. Was thinking the same thing you discussed in this video: less people play ea the better. Cheap gear for me! Thanks so much for the hold hands level video. I learnt a lot for early game from that one. Hope your guides and maxroll poe do well, I always use maxroll for d2 and d3. But please stop promoting ea for leaguestart, I want cheap gear :P
I did 38 challenges with EA in sentinel, amazing build. It was clearing all at once, 100% mod effect feared with ease. If you are looking forward to killing some uber bosses with this build in Kalandra, I have a few suggestions: Skip heart of destruction, get shaper of storms. Put deadly ailments on your main links, replace ignite prolif. You can get prolif on gloves implicit Get effect on non damaging ailments wherever you can Get forbidden jewels with shaper of winter, they were super cheap mid league. With all of the above, all pinnacle bosses (like uber Sirus) were shocked for 47% and chilled for around 30, which made the encounters super comfy. I skipped HoD, since it basically is just 15% more damage on bosses, and shock is 47% with 100% uptime. In kalandra I am thinking about dropping deadly ailments gem (to replace it with swift affliction or empower maybe?), and losing one jewel plus reservation notes, to pick up the lightning mastery, that gives +15% max shock, which should be easily attainable without deadly ailments hit penalty. It should also make chill better.
Hey I was thinking about playing this build for bossing mostly uber\shaper guardian with maven watching them and doing their invitation with the 100% increased effect atlas passives, do you think it's possible ?
@@appolox1575 I had +3 bow, unnatural instinct, woke gems, etc. Managed to kill all of the ubers. As to killing them with 100% mods? Hard to say. Depends on the rolls. 70% ailment avoidance turns into ailment immunity, so this is an instant brick (don't be me, read the mods), however poison immunity is inconsequential. If anything, I'd advice against trying to kill uber uber bosses with that 100% keystone, unless there is a challenge for that. Rewards barely drop, and even if, are rarely worth it, you will just end up hating the game, since those encounters are really overtuned, for the top 1% of top 1% of PoE players.
@@janpawedwa4590 Thanks for your feedback, I m just planning on doing the twisted and formed invitation as a currency making strategy for this league, last league a i played rf inqui which was smooth at bossing with guardian\ twisted and formed invitation with the 100% keystone, so I m planning to do the same with explosive arrow .
@@appolox1575 Oh, with the changes I suggested (the shaper of winter jewels mostly) Formed and twisted with 100% were a walk in the park. So go for it, and good luck at leaguestart today!
Thanks for releasing an update on this build! I've played it many times, when my ssf build fails, this is what I've fallen back to every time. and it just gets it done.
Certified banger of a build even with the nerf (minimal nerf at that). Farmed a thousand or more logbooks over two leagues, going to farm even more with it on 3.19. Easy vouch from me. But don't roll it guys EA dead kap
I played this build in 3.17 and it was definitely one of the top 3 leaguestarts I've ever had. I usually don't play the same build multiple times but can highly recommend it for everybody.
I'm the same way. Luckily I've never played EA so this should be it for me. Curious, what other two top builds are you referring to? Old school ED/contagion and seismic trap?
Thanks Pal, followed your guide in 3.17, it was such a smooth gameplay and it comes with my 1st mirror and mageblood legit drop, my best ever league Tried sth else in 3.18… and it’s such a harsh start… Will definitely consider back to EA this coming weekend
Started this build for the past 2 leagues and I am going to do it again. It is just too good. Anyone thinking about trying something new you can just play this for sure. I almost didnt play this because people kept talking about how the delayed damage was really bad for mapping but it was just fine. I even played this with headhunter and It was great. Thanks a lot for the update
Would like to say - great job with making these videos and your builds are amazing! The way everything is explained and detailed - never seen so ez before. Love you man!
Really like the new pob link that's posted as I can use it on my phone I can't access the I guess the PC PoB, only thing that is missing from it is what clusters or uniques you recommend for high and ultra high endgame. However kudos with this I just finished campaign deathless it's a breeze
Definitely vouch for all Palsteron builds and information. EA is still good and makes for a great first time SSF build too. Ran it the last 2 leagues to start and farmed a ton of currency super early with it.
I have done 36-40 challenges every league since perandus and this looks like my league starter. I try to pick one that can do most if not all content. last league i picked RF and just couldnt kill the uber bosses. had to buy them which felt really bad. I am really hopeful with a high investment that I will be killing them myself this league!
Thanks! I was about to ask for the update in one the the old videos, so.. perfect timing :D Some considerations maybe you could consider: in the last league I've played EA using Devouring Diadem, and it was a blast. Considering the mana reservation nerf and divine blessing nerfs, I think it's even more viable than before. Another, and it's more a question, can we take advantage of the buffed Haste instead of some other aura? Thanks man!
I've just checked and the Eldritch Battery actually doesn't help with the divine blessing, so the Devouring Diadem will only help with mana reservation and general mana issues, and enables you to use empower instead of lifetap on the 6L
hey thanks for the guide using this for the new league, has the death rush ring been changed? the one in the pob and the one on the ingame is completely different
Just want to say I greatly appreciate you going back and updating this guide. Played EA following your hand holding and it was great. Question is there any use for mark on hit and alchemist brand? Seems like it would fit but fairly new so no idea
I'm curious to see if spell suppression is necessary for my playstyle. running cosmos and gaze for eldritch currency farming, by the time i finish a map pretty much any schmo could 1 shot me. Again ty for turning me on to EA Ballista. This will be my second full league and I'm at the "lets do it faster and better" stage. Looking to take your league starter and pack as much damage on it as I can to see if i can run 2 pariah while mapping :). again ty and good luck in the lake.
@@zitrone8226 i cant use grace, precision, and determination. im left with 20 mana. so I'm not using determination so i feel super squishy. edit: the only thing i can think of is in his late game tree he is only 1 point away from evasion mastery, which gives grace 25$ increased mana reservation efficiency. Not sure if that will work/be enough though. might leave enough mana to make it workable but idk
I'm currently lv91 and I seem to just be at the same ignite DPS as the POB in the description, but I have no idea how to improve it further. Like I've looked at old 3.18 builds and some of them are doing like 4-5x more damage at that current point but haven't adjusted their POBs for 3.19, so I'm not sure how much more to improve from what Palsteron has in their POB for 3.19. Is there something to do past what the "Great Gear" suggestions have in the POB?
I may have missed something, but why aren't we using Rain of Splinters? The two extra projectiles would make it easier to stack to 20 fuses wouldn't it?
@Palsteron 1st. of all divine blessing works at least from what i've tested so im confused about that part, can you elaborate that more please? 2nd. Why is pob level 93 and why are skills incomplete and gem setup is missing in body armour? And what is better to 6 link frenzy or have 5 aura + enlighten in your chest?
Hey, quick question: How good is this build for Expedition? I like Expedition and had no problems when playing Poisonous Conc. but had some when playing Tornado Shot due to reduced dmg from the modifiers from Expedition. Will this build work well for Expedition and what should I be looking out for? Thanks in advance!
Make sure you don't take enemies immune to ignite. The immune to fire one is clearly and loudly advertised so that should be easy to avoid. The ignite one is not. Expedition is no problem with it. They actually fixed one small problem with it this league as far a I know. Which was that you could have had 100% block enemies in expedition before, and would have needed to craft the block chance reduction gem to kill them. I think they bottomed it out at 5% or something.
So what builds would you consider S now for league start and people playing 1 or 2 builds at most? Thanks! Probably going with EA anyway but I would love to know.
i dont know if i play this or lightning, cause lightning seems op this league too. Or is it still meta nr.1 after nerf? Also this poison build from tyty he speedruning is superstrong :O
Hi there!!, is the passive tree (and guide) updated with those changes on the Max Roll page?? I'm new on the game and following the guide from there since is much easier than youtubes videos (for me at least). Thank you!!
He hasn't adjusted the build for this league (seriously) as he's not playing it this league. And I think he just used it early last league so it's overall about 3-4 months outdated. He's basically saying.... They tested the build pre-buff, it already worked well... he used the build while buffed, it was nerfed to still be stronger than the pre-buff, so it should still work well. The guide basically still works. The changes should be very small. Probably most relevant if you're new is that "death rush" a fairly no brainer cheap unique, was changed and sort of buffed, sort of nerfed. More importantly, it's 50 chaos orbs to buy a halfway decent one when it used to be 5. (in more detail, it used to provide stats you'd want on the build, and now just provides 2 effects, which you also want, but only work while you're killing stuff, whereas before it was still decent for bosses because it gave a good amount of flat accuracy, defense, chaos resistance and life. The reservation mastery was nerfed, but you probably still want the nodes. This means it's a little harder to get multiple auras. You should still be able to run two by red maps though, and can fit in a banner or a third if you want to push for it. (ignoring a lategame aura stack style setup) Overall, just use the guide and adjust where you like. Pay extra attention to the caveats- if you mess one of those up the build is almost instantly destroyed until you fix it (eg, piercing arrows and flat fire damage). There's plenty of leeway to make changes for your specifications. There are about 4 good ascendency choices after "shaper of flames" and "mastermind of discord" and about a dozen different support skill gems you could slot for various purposes depending on how you like to play.
there is one thing in this video that I thought may talk about that you didn't What about alchemist's mark? Obviously flam is extremely good for this build, but I was curious what your thoughts were on the new mark Build looks really solid, planning to start it this league
Does implicit on boots "ignites you inflict deals damage faster" work? i wonder if we inflict the ignite or our totems. I understand we get the kill from ignites enemies but i dont know if this implicit works.
Does the Eater of Worlds implicit on boots "Ignites you inflict deal damage xx% faster" on boots do something for this build? In the maxroll guide you mentioned that only movement/action speed is interesting here.
That effect works. The issue is you have a big fat 42% on your belt and the reasonable everywhere amount on boots is 7%. If you want better than grand it starts getting expensive. You're likely to see better overall practical results from some sort of movement mod. I prefer movement skill cooldown myself, as it allows pretty much infinite flame dash.
Despite the state of the game (per social media), this build is good enough to help teach a mere noob such as myself to not quit too soon... only been through Act 10 once and I don't think I can take credit for the win... Portal Cast on Death was the real winner. I'm looking forward to this build more for not dying as much as my other char.
On one hand, I've already played this build 2 leagues in a row and want to play something else this time around. On the other hand this build is so damn smooth it's really hard to justify playing something else, and no other "new" builds I've seen so far really catch my eye.
another quick one if u dont mind ;p What can i possiby usefull do with 4 leftover gemslots i put cast on death and portal for 2 just in case but still got 2 empty gemslots on my chest thats are getting wasted ( ?
Hey, I love the build thx for sharing it. I'm around lvl 85 now feels good, but got a question, want to go to Determination/Grace aura for extra tankiness, got my resses at 75% so i can drop purity. Issue is mana reservation. How do we get over that? I have precision at 19, so I can try get a lower version of that, but that's not the biggest issue, once I use Determination, I simply cant use Grace, even without precision. Edit: ok so I realised what the issue is. It's a noob problem but something no one tells you about to be careful. Dont add support skill gems to auras, they will increase the mana cost reservation, I could easily keep both grace and Det after, and Precision at 10-15 lvl.
You don't need high level precision. They totally gutted it, but get a blind source. Blind used to be totally busted and now it's totally overlooked. You're getting evasion with grace AND you want accuracy. So you lower their accuracy and evasion. I bought this for 5c to hold me over: Searching eye jewel 192 accuracy 4-40 lighting damage 7-12 chaos damage 5% chance to blind As for efficiency, get grace mana efficiency if you need it. If you need more there are you can get the one for banner for 3 points or the one for determination for 4. These have fairly good minor nodes in front of them, so it doesn't feel as bad as going over for charisma, but will of course be lowering your damage compared to the listed setup. May be some better end game setups, but not at the point to worry about that. I need better ailment protection before I can switch over to grace.
@@Greg3 Hey man, hope its not too late, check my comment I edited it, the "Edit:..." part, it might be the same problem, it happened by mistake to me to add some support gems linked to auras. Thats most likely the issue.
expensive..as someone who has league started it 2 leagues in a row...you almost need Farrul's Fur, cat's stealth/frenzy + the elder ring(tentacle whip) since you aren't berserker. It feels GREAT once you get it all going, but it really is expensive. BUT Raider is easier to play than Beserker though for sure.
Infernal cry is good if you're jumping into packs. It's okay for bosses. If you're running ubers or super buffed rares or essences, polaric should be better. If you're doing all expeditions and legions and stuff I think you'd probably get a little better performance from infernal cry. Unfortunately one of the main mods of polaric is the ~70% total resists, so you can't really just switch to whichever is more appropriate for the situation very easily.
This build should only be played buy people that want to complete the games content with a very consistent pace. If you want to struggle through the entire campaign and throughout clearing your maps at start, you should play something else.
Hi I saw you had 18 fuse in your pob. But with 2.27 attack rate, you're supposed to have only 15.7 fuse (2.27(attk rate) x 6(totems) x 1.155(skill duration)). I may be wrong...
The countdown starts after your first fuse is on the enemy. If it's one that isn't preset on the map, that means you have 6 fuses at ~0 seconds. When actually playing there will often be a bit more delay based on placement speed, etc. But you'll have 6 fuses right away. Then you basically have a second for them to attack two more times. If you're curious how you're doing, go to an area in acts so density is low. Find one enemy. Drop a single totem. Count how many fuses you get before it explodes. For bosses you want 3. (With certain setups, you can get 4, which is of greater advantage if you're using a 5 totem setup since it's 15--->20 instead of 18--->20) As he says, in actual combat there's a lot of stuff messing with things so don't worry too much. But if you do the test I told you and you only get 2 fuses before the explosion, you need more attack speed (for bossing).
@@redfish337 I'm not worry too much. I played 4 EA builds last league and was pretty happy with them. Especially the last 2 builds was so good. I got normal Sirus with only 2s/phase and 5s for last phase of uber Sirus. Just wonder if it could be something nearly what we had last league as I heard the ignite damage was capped. It shows 35mil dot damage in my pob after updated while it was 65mil before
It relies on life% on kill while mapping. Usually you just put hired killer on your amulet. If you want to use the build ASAP (most have you switch over later but it works fine enough early) then you can go spec over to vampirism. There are some ignite nodes over in that direction that can be of temporary benefit. For whatever you'd consider a dangerous boss you may want to bring one or two extra life flasks.
BTW, he goes upper left first. First time I did this I went south first. This time I'm thinking of going down the right side first, grabbing nodes that will eventually be removed like hired killer (requires opalescent oil). Lots of QoL for the build early but will eat about an extra 20 regret orbs eventually. No big deal. Haven't tried it yet though, just mentioning it as something to consider.
Was my starter last league, with very basic gear it was a great mapper, squishy but easily cleared early red maps. I couldn't get it to work on bosses, since I was only able to scrounge up 1 ex all league, and I didn't have fun with the build, so I also didn't farm much. BTW, are minion builds completely gutted now? Skele Mages and Skellies overall were nerfed to a rather absurd degree, Spectres got YET ANOTHER nerf, even though Spectre-focused builds already were rare and expensive to get going. Golems got shat on, Zombies are niche. Reaper might be good, with the supposed 7-times buff to bleed from minions.
His items have open slots. That's where you're supposed to put your resists. The "great" items are actually 6 mod items... the resists are just omitted as they can go anywhere.
BTW, you can look under "calcs" to see what's happening. He added a flat "100" to the 3 main resists. But because of polaric and dyadian (and 40% from tree), you only actually need about 30 more cold and fire resist, plus a little more to overcap for curses. Lightning will lag, so you should be focusing on picking up lightning resists when crafting your stuff. And frankly chaos- it's not a super old guide but I think a lot still underestimate how much more chaos damage is in the game recently (due to eldritch altars + archnemesis)
@@redfish337 thx for answer, i managed it for the moment, i up my gear incresively and i just changed to cluster jewel setup but i m lvl 93 so i had to sacrifice 2 life nodes, need to be 95 :-) , need a little chance to hit i m at 98%, 100 suppress spell, 75 res except chaos, good armor and evasion i think, 4.5k life
Where are you in the game? The first thing to remember is that your defensive auras work on your totems... so you do probably want 20/20 defensive auras so you can keep them affected from a farther range. And if you aren't using double defensive auras or better they'll feel it too. The other thing is to trade out some attack speed nodes for defensive nodes (or if you have more points temporarily, take them all). The nodes by ironwood have 10% damage and 4% attack speed and you can take 15% life and 15% physical protection instead and are probably the fastest help. Up by primal manifestation in upper left it's 6% attack speed that can be traded for 15% life and 10% physical for one and 15% life/16% elemental for the other. Overall it's 20% damage and 20% attack speed loss is you go full defense on these choices. Ironwood should almost cap totem resists by itself but I think the totem resist still helps a little bit and should overcap them a little bit for curses, but IIRC won't help against penetration. (not sure of mechanics here). In general, would just switch out the 10/4 nodes by surveillance for the 15/15 nodes by ironwood. Make sure you're still hitting your main breakpoint.
@@redfish337 thank you very much! I will have a look into it. Greatly appreciate the help. I was trying to go from early maps to more juiced up once. Not as juiced up as it could be, but as a beginner I was at a total loss of what I'm doing wrong and why my totems die so quickly. I'll try it out! Thanks a lot!
Should be fine at 55... should frankly be really going well at that point. You're doing something wrong. Go check his main video and make sure you aren't doing anything wrong. Make sure you don't have flat fire damage, etc. Also, do this check. Find one enemy. Set 1 totem. Count how many arrows until it explodes. If it's not at least 3 then you need more attack speed or skill effect duration.
They moved it to configuration with the newest POB update. You kill all with this, but for any other builds if they don't put it in notes check configuration.
even pohx make mistakes, he changed the leveling part of his build and made it even harder for new players, changing and making it confusing to play . He did a leveling in 3.17 with winterwide brand then respect some points and transitioning to RF, now he leveling with rolling magma and brand on lvl 28 ,that is bullshit bro, worst play ever. slow as fuck.
Did 300 ex last league. Got my first HH and ashes + Omni. Just kidding (maybe not). Don't play this. Is dead. 🤣🤣🤣 I may switch to carrion golemns if I find clayshaper earlier. Btw even in sentinel I did all non ubers, feared and etc on a quill rain. 50% less damage. Edit: (Contains irony)
wtf are you talking about, EA nerf is barely impacting mapping, everything will still die in 1 second, and when you're at 20 fuses on bosses it's like 20% less damage, which translates to couple seconds more fighting bosses, it's still a very powerful build and it will probably be one of the top in this league lol
Thank you for the update. I just watched your leveling guide and have a question. Around lvl 28 you pick mana resevervation mastery which is gone now. Does it mean we should drop one of the herald skills? If yes, which one would that be? Or maybe drop purity of elements?
Nice guide! Thank you very much! Unfortunately "Reservation Mastery" (15% mana reservation efficiency) is no longer available. what can i do alternatively?

Bow Mastery for +100 Accuracy per green socket is giving +400. Your bow has 6 green sockets instead of 2 bringing down hit chance to 98% when fixed. Edit: This is only for the "Decent" +2 Bow
Can vouch for this build. Played in 3.17, even if i dont really like totem playstyle, had a total blast with ignite prolifs! Tankiness decent, bossing very good, mapping smooth! 9/10 recommend Question though- How would you compare EA ballistas to Maw of Mischief golem ignite? I would imagine Maw single target dps and tankiness will be as good if not better than EA, but how do they compare in terms of mapping? Since Maw build seems to need more investment(helm, bereks ring) to get started, i'm kinda scared to grind for the early expensive items just to realize the playstyle feels clunky
