LOL!!! I'm no Infraworks expert either. I just figured out a way to get what I needed out of the software and into Civil 3D. For the work I do, this is as much Infraworks as I need.
When you began your Civil 3D drawing did you set it to the correct coordinate system? That could be a culprit. Also, check your UNITS. Verify that the insertion units are set to feet and not inches or US survey feet.
Try upgrading your Infraworks. Remember, there really isn't a version of Infraworks. It's a live software that needs to be updated to the latest and greatest to work properly. Even though you may not be using 2025 software, I would still advise to go into your Autodesk account and download the latest version. Whatever you export out of Infraworks should work with any version of Civil 3D.
I'm assuming this is a Revit building. If so, then this is the process: www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Project-a-Revit-model-into-Civil-3D-section-profile-views.html
Here is a video I made years ago discussing Infraworks, Civil 3D, and Vehicle Tracking. At about minute 38:14 I import a Revit model: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-liBpeaecwdc.html
