not gonna lie, when I first watched the doc. i kinda already believed Thor's statements w/out doing the research myself but now it's pretty clear Eddie won fair.
@@eddiehallwsm yo eddie im a big fan of yours, i know you are going to beat thor in the boxing match, cause there is no one whos got a stronger will than you, he aint no match for you!!! so glad that the world now finally sees that your WSM victory 3 years ago was won fairand square
It wasn't even really very close. Eddie performed 100% perfect text book reps; complete lockouts without double dipping. Thor on the other hand performed at best 90% and was fairly given a one rep deduction. Conclusion: Eddie not only won, but he smashed it, and deserves all the credit in the world. He's a real standup guy. Much respect!
You have to also remember, Thor's argument is completely based on the fact, if that rep was allowed it would have been 15 each, and the overall score would have been a tie, not the one point Eddie beat him by. However had a target to aim at, and did 15 because that's what he had to do to win. I'm 99.9% sure, Eddie would have been more than able to do 16 or 17 if he had to. Plus there were 3 events after this I believe, so it's not as if he didn't have a chance to claw it back. Also on the Stone, Eddie knew he just had to lift them all to win, you could argue if he was against the clock and had to beat a specific time to win, he would have. But as mentioned in the video, Thor is surrounded my 'Yes' men, if he told them he believed water was green and the sky was black, they'd back him and convince him he was right. Thor has at least 4 reps that could have been DQ'd, he wasn't locking his elbows on them all either. It's arrogance of the highest order for Thor to genuinely believe he was cheated out of the title. He's like a child throwing his toys out the pram.
Plus he was out of time to hit his last rep which would have been 15 if he had did it right. Eddie has so much time to hit 15 and would have hit 16 if Halfthor hit 15.
If anything, the judges were too lenient with Hafthor, but no matter how you feel about it, his score was 14 at the end of the exercise. Which meant that Eddie's target was 15. Can you imagine the idiocy of giving Hafthor another rep after the fact? Eddie looked like he could have done at least one or two more if he had to.
I guess you can also argue Eddie did his faster... so even though that's not how things are decided, I think it matters. Problem is I think Eddie could have and should have gone for 16. I think hafthor would still be complaining for reasons...
Exactly. The hammer got hammered fair and square by the better man. Bad loser and it is always nice to see somebody try to blame someone or something else for their own failure. It just makes Eddie look the better man out of it. All I can say is you lost hammer and deserved it even more by being a big baby about it.
This controversy shows that Hafthor lost the World's Strongest Man title not only in physical strength, but in character! Major respect to Eddie, he deserved so much better and still shows composure and kindness to his competitors
You even have other competitors. Someone who's a friend with him saying I'm friends with the guy. I like them but I don't think he won. It's okay to be upset that you lost. It's not okay to make spurious claims.
just the fact that the ref said I warned you 4 times and only knocked him once should be clear enough. if that judge wanted to be a stickler he would of knocked him for each of those 4 not just the last one.
well Eddie won one time wsm and he got A LOT of credit for it... The most arogant winner ever, was a great show tho. back in 17. Not everyone likes the way he acts and says stuff. hypocritical guy this eddie
@@seife41 People like Eddie are just extremely competitive. Their brains just work a bit differently, they come across as arrogant and full of themselves but I don't think that's fair, they just have this superhuman drive to be the absolute best at everything they do, they're the epitome of an alpha male. Eddie is is a bit of a joker, and a young man with an enormous amount of testosterone, but I think he's a decent man deep down.
Being a judge must be so stressful, you obviously want to be on good terms with everyone, but that also means people are going to call you biased when someone you're particularly on good terms with wins
Their call can make or break a win, disputed or not, it would knock confidence after being told the lift wasn't counted or happened on the end of the timer. Watched wsm every year since I was 9, seen pudinezki compete twice as hard due to similar ref calls, but was still a gent and congratulated the winner. Lost a lot of respect for hafthor after 2017 wsm
Same. Although he is a scary man to approach I guess. Intimidating character. He didn't bring any friends to the competition either. Only his physio. I'm positive he got an generous amount of congrats at the event. Very few people supported the idea there even was a controversy. The controversy didn't gather any moss until after the event

If no one else said well done then Eddie was probably either hiding or the other competitors had a reason to not want to congratulate him. I doubt they were just bitter.
@@HaganeHiryu Probably because nice guys finish last, Most if not all people on the top level (or any world level competition ) they are the most competitive people in the world at what they do. I bet everyone else in that final where secretly disappointed in themselves.
Eddie locked his elbows at the top of EVERY rep... Hafthor didn't... Eddie waited for the "DOWN" instruction during every rep.... Hafthor didn't... Eddie locked in his knees during every rep and held them strong in the correct position... Hafthor definitely didn't... Moral of the story.... Thor was NEVER cheated out of the World's Strongest Man and Eddie won it fair and square.
That win was and is 100% yours Eddie. Regardless of what anyone thinks or says, you won that fair and square. I believe he simply had too many yes men by his side and had a lot of ego going into that competition giving his nature of being a movie star. It's a shame he and his team couldn't uphold the brotherhood and stay true and have good ethics and integrity for the sport and their fellow competitors. You'll always be above and truly one of the greats. I'm just a nobody, another fish in the ocean. But your videos give me lots of Amp and drive foe the gym. Keep your head high sir. You deserve it.
"No one has said well done yet..." That was kind of sad, for Eddie having trained so hard only for people to question a win that personally i think he dominated with pure raw strenght.
Thor just doesn’t like to lose. He’s never had to work for his wins like Eddie had and quite honestly... I’m not sure he gives a fuck about worlds strongest man, if he did, he would’ve done his reps cleanly.
The refs called it. You won. I'm sorry that you were not acknowledged at the time for your accomplishments. I wish I could of been there to give you a big hug when no one would. You did great Mr. BEAST!
Imagine comparing losing a strong man competition to losing your daughter...I get that competition is important to some people, but that is ridiculous.
I think Thor's Height & limbs' length were not suitable(too long) for that weights' Mechanisms. However it is more suitable for Eddie's Measurements which are shorter than Thor's.
Not a bullying tactic.....it shows he thought he didn't do anything wrong. I don't know how long this comp was after he lost custody of his girl but i think that played into his attitude towards all of it, and his coach really pressed the issue with it
Mate, he really believed it were good reps, you can see it in his eyes. Yes he was WRONG, Eddie did win fair and square and he shouldnt have made the fuzz about it, but he believed in that moment.
He was the head of sports at my old school, was one of the most fair positive teachers ive ever had in my life. Makes me pissed tbh watching them bitching to him
Brian, nick, big z, and a couple other guys congratulated him afterwards. Those guys were extremely gassed after competing. They are trying to catch their breath qnd relax just like Eddie was here
I'm not even a big watcher of the sport, but you can easily see Eddie certainly won without a doubt. It all comes down to ego, and that's not a jab at those who compete. You need that mindset to be able to push through the pain and exhaustion to keep moving forward. Hats off to you, Eddie, mate. You could have gone more had the need for it been there. I'm three years late commenting, but having come across the video and seen it, it's plain to see you won without question.
Watching the side by side comparison it was clear that the judges were extremely lenient with Hafthor who I think was VERY lucky to be given a score of 14, what a crybaby, Eddie you annihilated him on that one, the official record shows you won by one, but in reality I think Hafthor should have been reprimanded more harshly by the judges during the event and told he wasn't waiting for the down call, he was lucky to get 14 as he didn't even do 14 proper lifts!
people forget that these things were actually very recurring at the finals. Back in the day Brian vs Bigz it was also like that. Shaw fucked up with the bag carry and it cost him 1st place
Same could be said for Brian. How many times did Brian come so damn close to winning. Brian has gotten so close to the trophy so many times but in his losses he became an even stronger champion. I think the one guy who said Thor is surrounded by Yes Men is correct. Thor is Mr. Hollywood and he has that Hollywood mentality.
It's good that we get to hear other competitors opinions on what they thought about the scandal because they fully understand what it takes to even do a heavy lift and on top of that they all know "IT'S A SPORT!" you win some you loose some, but that doesn't stop them to keep competing and getting better each year and challenging themselves even more. But most importantly it's all about the sportsmanship.
The real tragedy, besides Eddie and the referees reputations slandered, is the fact that this documentary clearing their names won’t get anywhere near as much media attention as the original controversy.
@Senior Billy Bull Thor was prepping exclusively for that lift and did it at a date and time most suitable for him. Eddie did it while already out of gas, and the challenge was thrown as a spectacle, nobody expected anyone to lift it. Also the weights Thor lifted were verified by his father, and Thor conveniently retired strongman with a bs excuse. So was it even 501kg that he lifted is up for debate
@Senior Billy Bull Thor Broke the record by a mere 1kg. Eddie did it by a mere 35 Kg at the time amongst guys like Benedikt Magnusson and Jerry Prichett who also had attempted the 500KG lift. Sure Thor "could've" pull 20+ more kg to prove a point, but the simple fact that he didn't when he had a chance to blow eddies record away and take all bragging rights away from Eddie's name makes that argument invalid.
Until just now i had assumed you were all friends. You, Eddie Hall, are one of the strongest men in human history, and are the first man ever to deadlift half a ton. A literal half ton. Nothing anyone says can ever take that from you.
Broke my heart when Eddie said no one else had congratulated him 😢 deserves the win without the controversy surrounding it. Working so hard for something for it then to be tarnished. Glad this highlighted that he was just a sore loser x
He had all his fans and supporters congratulating him and 10+ strongmen said well done. Just because the cameras werent rolling and zues didnt knight him with a million people screaming at the top of their lungs chanting eddie eddie doesnt mean he didnt get props mate.
@@rhymereason3449 Any common sense in that dome of yours buddy? This thor situation entirely ruined the atmosphere of Eddie's win, of course he still celebrated it. Just not as he pictured.
@@rhymereason3449 idk Thor, his yes men, thor's fanboys, just about anyone who took Thor's word over the facts and what actually happen, thus creating controversy and doubt whether or not Eddie won fair and square. It's kinda hard to celebrate something you've devoted your life to and achieving after many years and sacrifices when you have a good amount of people saying you're a cheat or it was rigged blah blah.
@@richieewinns it's thanks to shitty Game of thrones fanboys, they worship this guy so much. He plays a super huge guy in that show and that's why they like him a lot.
@@rhymereason3449 it diminished Eddie's win like he only won because thor got disallowed reps, rather than Eddie being a stronger athlete. It's a joke, buzzing to watch Eddie KO that prick
I found your videos just recently Eddie as I started going to the gym again and needed some motivation.. Not only did I find entertaining and motivation but also heart felt emotion that brought me to tears a couple times just in the last few days. You seem like a great person, father and athlete. I'm looking forward to all your crazy video ideas and really enjoy the videos with Brian Shaw I think you guys got such a brotherly chemistry I relate to it alot with my brother. Be well and safe and thank you for being a good role model in the 21th century. Not alot of those left. Peace and love
Imagine the balls on that man... all buffed ass men arguing against u along with a guy that can quite liturally break your skull in 2... and he didnt even stutter or give in an inch
He's a seasoned referee, he isnt intimidated. Look at NHL referees, theyre usually pretty small guys in comparison to the tanks on skates, yet they dont hesitate jumping in at complete mayhem
Surrounding yourself with those who automatically agree with you (yes men) means you’ve found yourself in an echo chamber. We’ll done Eddie Hall. Grats on becoming the worlds strongest man. 🎉
@@b_f_d_d as in the well deserved credit of being the strongest man in the world and proving it on the world stage despite drama and unprofessional competition? I think I would too.
Great video showing behind the scenes filming. Shows quite clearly Bjornson is a bad loser and not helped by 'yes men'.... Eddie showed what a true gentleman he is and win was thoroughly deserved. Full credit to the refs for making very fair decisions and giving a number of warnings before knocking points off.
The ref told him I could've taken 4 reps away but gave you 3 because I know your confused. The guy didn't bitch about 14reps till Eddie did 15reps lol. Very very poor loser. Eddie won and the whole event was on Thor....
Not only was he completely gassed at the end of his "14" reps, but you were looking strong and able to do at least one more if need be. So even if they counted his 15th with 3-4 bad reps, then you would have just done 16 and beat him anyway.. Lets be real.
Or Jormungand, the world snake (read everything about nothern mythology in german, so sorry of it sounds off) which has fought and killed/will fight and kill Thor at the Ragnarok
Idk why Thor even bothered tbh, Eddie’s shoulders in his prime (and some would argue even now, r.i.p his bicep) cannot be compared to anyone. Simple. Brutal. Strength.
Ok lets be fair here. The last 3 reps from Thor were not 100% clean BUT this video is bias because it does not tell you to look how fast the ref is counting "down" when it comes to Eddies reps. Much faster than with Thor. He even telling Thor to hold it lol.
@@takeyourtime3328 For what I understand, It's because Thor almost never lock his elbow, the ref try to be "nice" in some way, by letting some time for Thor locking, and because it never happenned the ref say "down", the failure of the lock is compensated by the exhausting time trying to lock. See that as a Penalty, it's clearly more nice to Thor than just reject every reps because they're all bad.
Well done Eddie, you are a true sportsman that won fair and square. Pity he did not congratulate you. Hope you and your dad enjoy biking this year, keep them shinny side up. Cheers Alan (glad you kept your dads 1400)
Amazing look at reality Eddie I was absolutely devastated after watching the BS after 2017 and I’ve not watched any strong man since, as a amateur power lifter in my 20s and loving the sport since the days of Geoff capes you sir are absolute legend fare play to you bud
"No one else has said well done yet." That broke my heart. Well done Eddie. Congratulations on your 2017 WSM win. This video really opened my eyes and I think an apology from Thor is in order.
As Brian Shaw said in the video 5:49 everyone knows when they double dip. To then go on and swear on his daughters life is just next level of maliciousness...
Please quit liking this comment guys. I want mine to be #1 in likes. If I end up in 2nd I'm calling you all cheaters and I'm going to have my daddy count the thumbs!
But why did nobody else congratulate him? If Thor is just a bad looser then why wasnt he the only one to not congratulate him, its been said that many contestants thought the event was set up for Eddie to win and nobody congratulating him would seem to give credit to this idea.
there is something beautiful in the power of this guys. so much effort and dedication. one can only wish them all to continue healthy and keep growing stronger =)
To add had Hafthor NOT been in GoT this wouldnt have been as bad for Eddie, Hafthor plays the Mountain which was the third actor to do so, Hafthor used this fame to slander an cast a shadow over Eddies years of 80+ hour weeks of training and recovering, seeing his family one hour a week most weeks, in order to accomplish this great feat an when Eddie finally acheived his goal of winning WSM 2017, up against the toughest competitors, this ten plus year journey and sacrifice was taken from him by a sore loser, Hafthor delusionally thought it was about one point when it was about events had Eddie an Hafthor tied, or Hafthor won the Viking press Hafthor would have lost still because Eddie won more events, events that Hafthor with his physique and levers should have won. TLDR: Hafthor lost three rounds made for his levers an physique, Hafthor double dipped FOUR times an only ONE was disallowed, Hafthor lost WSM, after Eddies retirement, in 2018 WSM, Hafthor beats his wife an the fame of GoT got to him aswell as his nasty narcissism!
Eddie was always far, far stronger in all pressing events than every other competitor in this line up other than maybe Zydrunas. Making such a scene out of this is just ridicolous on Thors behalf.
There is no doubt that Eddie Hall won that event and is the world’s strongest man. Eddie’s technique and control over the viking press was impressive, not to mention that in the viking press, the taller you are the less weight you actually lift…science. Congratulations, Beast. You are a badass!
@@senseithomes if you were lifting something long that is connected with ground and you are lifting only one end of it, it would get easier as you are nearing more and more to vertical position ( __ ----> | ), so i guess if you are taller you start in a more vertical position
There were actually 2 or 3 other reps that could have been tossed out. The athletes get only 1 warning. Thor got 3. His last rep wasn't even close. His elbows were completely bent. Not sure what he's complaining about.
@@TampaCEO that last rep, rep 14, he didn't even wait for the ref to say down, he dropped it early, he was lucky to get that one. And I saw the video before Eddie shared it, and yeah, he failed 3 reps and were given them. He should have gotten 11 instead of 14, but let's complain about the last one that would have tied him with Eddie after Eddie finished
@eternity cosplay I wish he would have finished with 16 to just show off, but Thor would have still been "robbed". I like Thor, he seems like a really cool guy, but Colin was way to generous with the Viking Press.
I love big z man, "what colour is plane?". The humility of him to say "you cant be winner of everything" as someone who is 4x WSM and 8x ASM is amazing, to not have any hairs or graces
How can he compare this whole debacle to losing his daughter. Lost all respect for him. Eddie hall won that one fair and square. No one can take that away from him. Hope you twat him in the fight next year.
This video basically make me respect Eddie even more he does every rep cleanly while Hafthor was sluggish. You can even hear Nick shouting "STOP AT THE TOP THOR"
Maverick92 stfu pls. That means nothing he clearly did many illegal reps but was given the benefit of the doubt on all but one. Don’t bring that argument here please
The only person that robbed him was himself. He was given numerous warnings and Eddie had enough in the tank to do a 16th lift anyway. Congrats Eddie you deserved it. You’ll always have us in your corner
I think the double dipping call is debatable but what isn't debatable is that he had 3 other reps that should not have counted because he lowered the weight before the down signal. He's complaining about not being given the 15th rep when it should have been his 12th rep anyway.
I mean 4 warnings... If that was some of the other competitors they would have had more reps removed from result... BUT since he lifts "that way" the referee was VERY nice to him.. Could aswell have been 12 or 13 reps... In my mind his number 13 and 14 was not done right... Down WAY too fast and Not locking out that elbow...
I'm sure he thanked whoever he prays to for Eddie Hall's retirement.. Eddie is still the best of all time for me.. good sportsmanship, great personality, humor, great dude... Fan through and through
Does seem like a proper gent but the rivalry with hafthor ended up going too far in the end, could've done a 2 man tournament rather than boxing, height and weight made it weird match and training or lack of. Hafthor has reach, agility and stamina but Eddie just had a strong right hand, limited movement and didn't try to block
@@ZEDDYXx that was much fair though, just like they changed the competition to make eddie win, he challenged him in a favourable environment. How does it feel to be at a disadvantage from the start? I find it poetic
“If your Yes men come into the ring, I’m going to beat the shit out of them until they are no men.” I didn’t know Eddie can land a jab with just words.
I agree. If Thor wants to retrospectively claim the extra lift based on Eddie's 15 then it's fair to say that Eddie could claim an extra lift based on Thor's because that's clearly all Eddie was aiming for.
exactly so idk why thor even chose to dispute this other than to make him feel better about losing and not being good enough to beat eddie; makes a lot of sense why he did the 501kg lift now lmao
Eddie said once when he finished a set at WSM he went to sit down and have a rest and there wasn’t any chairs left because of all the icelandic people 😂 they’re so entitled
@@atcera8714 dafuq ur on about? Eddies reps were spot on, thor was lucky they didn't take more reps away, sure if u have a poor eye for strongman u maybe can't see it. Taller? Yes but that means bigger frame, bigger frame=more muscles=more strength, that's why all the world strongest men are tall af, even eddie (6ft2,5)
Atcera you can bend your knees, just not on the catch... You can bend to press up, but legs then have to be straight when you catch at the top, the double dipping thor did was due to doing this but then bending the legs on the catch, which then makes the press easier... This is why he had 1 removed and could have had 2-3 removed for similar actions... Eddies legs everytime on the catch were 100% locked out straight.
@@atcera8714 So basically, you either didn't watch the video or you don't understand the rules and the side by side comparison that clearly showed (in the video) that Thor double dipped, but worse, didn't even lock out those elbows on that 15th rep. Amazing.
I have to admit having 2 daughters and a son myself and being a former competitor, that rubber me wrong. I would NEVER... I wonder if B Shaw realized the nuclear bomb he inadvertently pulled the pin on?
emotionally blackmail? That's a thing now? Get the budgy smugglers out of the crack. He was stubborn, but emotionally blackmailing looks way different.
