If you’re using plastisol ink, you can mix in some curable reducer to thin it down a little. As far as getting the ink softer, printing through a higher mesh count such as a 230 will help you to get a softer print. Again, if you’re printing plastisol, you can mix in curable reducer or even soft hand additive. With waterbased ink, you can mix in water.

Hmmm. I thought I had an exposure time issue but now I see it could be a positive contact issue, Thanks Ryo, You get a gold star

@bitriotrecords You are probabloy having issues because QTX is a pre-sensitized emulsion and exposes a lot faster than the DXP emulsion you started out with. Because it exposes faster it has a much smaller exposure window which basically gives you a level of forgiveness. I you are using a more basic light to expose your screens I would definately recommend switching back to a dual cure emulsion like DXP or Ryonet new WBP - Ryan
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 10 лет назад
We unfortunately do not have any recommendations for that light as we have not tested it. You will want to do a step wedge test.
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 10 лет назад
You will want to follow the steps on the bottle of diazo and then mix the entire thing into the pot of emulsion. If you’re using waterbased ink, you can sprits the ink with water to keep it flowing.

where is the "locked screen" tutorial? I can't find it. Been looking!
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 11 лет назад
Make sure you're using transparent film and have enough pressure pushing down on the film so it creates positive contact with the screen.

@Ryonet Thanks for the tip. We have a good exposure unit - one of your aluminum looking auto UV boxes, but I just am not having good luck with the pre-sensitized emulsion so I am going to give the dual cure another shot as when we didn't know what we were doing, we were able to make good screens with it :] Actually getting in on some emulsion, screens and chems at the last minute with the wicked silkscreeningsupplies sale :]

@bitriotrecords thanks guys! dual cure will always exposure much eaier, it has a lot longer exposure latitude which = level of forgiveness. Good luck and email us if you have questions :) ryan

i always have this problem when the artwork has thick lines and dots, i use 43 mesh . what is the perfect time to put the screen on exposure for how long?
@str8vtec661
@str8vtec661 8 лет назад
how long should you leave a emulsion covered screen 1/1 coverage to dry before expose it?
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 8 лет назад
it needs to be in a 40 percent or less humid environment and that typically takes about 30-60 minutes to dry

Hi ryonet Iam using 150wtts.hallow gen light in this what is the time of expose ? please tell me & how much emulsion to mix with how much.sensatizer measurement? & After printing starts the ink was getting harden What to mix with ink to soft?
@simonbleed2029

The DIY Kit said 9min expo time but if you use glass on top go a lil longer. I went 10 min and the glass and screen was hot. even burned the edge of the glass into the screen. It was a chore getting the image out, lesson learned

What emulsion are you using here? I have noticed that when I switched to Ulano QTX, despite printing transparencies twice as dark, I am having tons of trouble washing out screens. When I used CCI DXP dual cure emulsion that came with the Ryonet Beginner kit, transparencies that were way worse than I create now washed out way better! I have used a stouffer scale to get the timing right, but still many issues with QTX. I ask because of your comment at 4:55. Sounds like DXP?

Hello Ryan, my screen keep blowing out. What can be the problem? I do want to mention that it is some old emulsion over a year old. Maybe 2
@Ryonet
@Ryonet Год назад
Hi! If the emulsion has been opened and is over a year old, I recommend getting new emulsion and following all instructions for use and storage.

@ryonet if you cannot see your image after burning when held up to the light what does this mean?
@rares7562
@rares7562 6 лет назад
Courtney Stake I’m using an hp laser jet and a Ryonet uv exposure unit. I think I found what my problem was, the transparency I bought was probably low quality and my design was thin so that probably didn’t help. I ended up doubling up my transparencies and it worked out.
@HardWerkVisuals
@HardWerkVisuals 4 года назад
Roy Resendez so when you doubled up did you just put the design back over the same area and expose it again or did you have to start all over?

I am having an issue getting a image on my screen. I have tried 3 times with absolutely no results. I have varied the exposure time from 11 to 18 minutes made sure there was pressure on film to screen and I am using the emulsion supplied with the DIY kit. Everything is done in a dark room using a bug light. What am I doing wrong?
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 7 лет назад
Hey there! Can you please send an email to success@ryonet.com with what emulsion you're using, what screen you're coating, and all of the information about the times you've tried? We will take a look and see if we can figure out what's going wrong!

What does 2/2 coat mean in the emulsion direction? Is it coat shirt side and ink side twice? I thought it had to be thin coat? Help!!! lol

How long do i expose the image if i use a 250w bulb?when o was it out with image details fall off.
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 9 лет назад
Joel Rosales its hard to expose a screen with detail with a low wastage bulb like this, the key is positive pressure with the film, not time. Try getting more pressure on the film using glass or something like that. Also you can get a 500 watt halogen light which exposes a dual cure emulsion in about 12-13 minutes

how long should the emulsion dry for when i try to wash it out the emulsion just comes off....
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 10 лет назад
Kent Stevens Its more about dry in a dry area, in 40% humidity with a fan it dries in about 30-60 minutes, if you are more humid than that it may take a lot longer.

What is the exposure time??
@Ryonet
@Ryonet 6 лет назад
Exposure time pertains to what emulsion you are using. A one part (photopolymer) would be roughly 55 seconds and a two-part with diazo would be approximately 4 minutes.
@u360112

What's good exposure time for Ulano Trifecta?
@Ryonet

No you must wash out the image right away.

You sure can but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
