People think Japan is Tokyo like they think all of California is Los Angeles 😂

As a Japanese person, I always appreciate an American like Sora trying to correct the misunderstanding abroad about Japan.

I heard there is no subtitles when you land in Japan. That’s gotta be a lie

Even Tokyo is cheap relative to Western European capitals like Paris, London, Rome even Athens especially adjusted for local income.

So it's basically how many foreigners think that Moscow = Russia, but in reality it's like two different countries.

Saying Tokyo is Japan is like someone said how "London is UK" or "Paris is France", and my personal favourite : "Bali is Indonesia". So grateful you voice that kind of discontent.

He's not wrong. Instead of Robot cafes in Tokyo, you drive 8 hours outside the city to eat cold noodles in a restaurant with the world's largest statue of a smiling water beetle... or something. And the noodles only cost like 37 cents American.

I think the Japan = Tokyo is also common with other big world cities, like France = Paris, UK = London, South Korea = Seoul, but there are alot of people of said countries that lives away from the big city say that living away is cheaper, friendlier, and not the stereotype that is portrayed in media

Another thing about #1: If your start currency is weaker to the YEN, it IS gonna be expensive. If you go from USD or EUR to YEN it is going to be cheaper.

I honestly love these types of videos debunking misinfo on Japan. So many people on the internet either make Japan out to be a cute, utopian paradise or a hellscape wearing a kawaii disguise. Its a good reminder that Japan is just like any other country. It has its pros and cons. And the humor you got makes it twice as entertaining to learn!

This was helpful for me. I have been a bit shy to admit that anime is the reason I started liking Japanese culture. It's nice to see that even the older Japanese would like to hear it.

This video just reignited my want to live in Japan. I ended up giving up on my Japanese study's because I was one of those people that had the massive misconception about the work culture and basically scared myself out of wanting to live there. Due to this, I figured what I had already learned would be enough to visit and just stopped studying. Thank you Sora, you've basically just reignited my passion to learn the language and move there in a mere 5 minutes. Time to start my hellscape of kanji again :(

unfortunately the robot restaurant in kabukicho shut down. I was fortunate enough to go there before covid and the show was super wild. it felt like a rave party and I had no idea what's going on but it was awesome.
