Yeah I was bothered by that too. Rhodium is a member of platinum group, yes, but it's not derived from platinum. It is its own element with atomic number 45, platinum is element #78. That means rhodium has 45 protons, and platinum has 78 protons. There are six platinum group elements: platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, osmium, and iridium. They have similar properties but I wouldn't say one is derived from another.

Trax is high quality. But man does this dude over exaggerate how hard it is to design a simple pendant that looks like a double sided bullion bar. Acting like he’s carving this by hand. 10 year olds can do this with CAD. Also why would anyone pay 7k for a little over one ounce (pendant only) when you can buy a 24k pamp for 2.5k and have a custom bezel done with VS stones out the door for another 1k in 18k and still get a 24k chain for another 2-3K now that’s worth 7k. Try to sell this pendant they made and you’re only getting 1715.00 back if they pay 100% of spot. Before anyone tells me I’m tripping and what about labor I make jewelry myself. Try to sell that 24k setup I brought up and you’ll get easily 5-5.5kk back after spending 7k

12:30 That isnt quite correct. Rodium is a platinum group metal. The second most expensive one, after iridium. It is found mostly as an impurity in platinum/palladium mining. Rhodium is harder and more scratch resistant then other options for white gold so it is used to finish the piece. Furthermore like all metals when used for plating the metal must be in a liquid state.

I was in the jewelry industry for 28 years. I assure you the issue wasn’t finding a setter. Most likely the problem was getting the 39+ trillion (triangle) cut diamonds that were of the exact same measurements and quality. Whether these are natural mined diamonds, or lab grown diamonds-they would almost certainly have to custom cut that many of them to be a perfect match. In lab grown-you’d be talking about cutting them in India where most of them are produced-and in natural-most likely Antwerp. That’s most likely the cause of the delay.

He said he can do a ring in a day or two as someone who's in the industry of course you could do a ring in a day or two but depends what ring if it's something that is available you could do it in a short time but if you need to cut the diamonds special for that ring it's going to take a while. Basically what I'm trying to say is that it really depends on what the customer wants sometimes you could do it in 1/2 days and sometimes it's going to take a while

⁠⁠@@idontno0 pretty sure they don’t use rhodium in platinum. They typically use ruthenium or iridium to bring platinum to a 95% purity. Sometimes they use cobalt. Maybe he meant rhodium is in the metals group with platinum as it does have similar characteristics, but rhodium does not derive from platinum. Rhodium is essentially a natural white metal which through electroplating process bonds to white gold to give it a whiter look.

Rhodium plating is done with electrical current flowing through a solution that is concentrated with Rhodium that's been chemically dissolved. All white gold pieces are Rhodium plated but the metals alloyed with gold to make it white are from the platinum group u guys r all right! Also ur correct in the fact that he couldn't do this himself! Lol he's definitely a good jeweler, he didn't know much at all when they hired him and I've watched him grow lots, he's cocky af but it comes with the territory.

Wow, what an understanding customer. It doesn’t matter what it is, if I was quoted “ a month” for something, I’d be understanding if it was a little late by a couple days, a week, maybe two more weeks depending on circumstances but multiple months beyond??!! I would’ve looked for a way to unwind that deal. Makes me wonder why Jewelers would allow their supplier to be so behind on a project and in possession of something that’s quite expensive. Especially if they were local in the diamond district, why didn’t you show up to their office wondering where the ish was months ago? Don’t you guys have a legal department? Ida told them ay you have until X date to either get me back the diamonds or complete the job or else you’ll be getting served and I’ll see you in court.

$7K for 34 g 18K is completely ridiculous (It's 330% of gold value). In EU you buy mold gold items for 30-40% over the gold price, which for this piece means slightly below $3000. I have been a jeweller for 32 yrs and know what I'm talking about. This is some of the worst extreme overpricing I have ever seen

@@TheAwkwardSiilencerhe’s talking about getting the watch from a Rolex AD they won’t even let you look at a Daytona unless you bought 3 or 4 less desirable watch models and that isn’t just Rolex Ap patek etc all do it no regular person can just walk in and buy a Daytona at retail hence why people would rather go through Trax and other companies pay a slight up charge for the watch you want is better than being forced to buy 4 watches you’ll never wear or resell just to be able to purchase the one you originally wanted
