Oh Mark so much to learn. I really like your comment below about the Blacks.... that makes sense to me. Something I have never used is the tint.......as I thought it was not good to use it. Once again will will have to watch this video over and over to get an idea as to what I can do. What you have done to the sky fascinates me. Needs lots of practice.

darkening down the well lit areas of your image made it look flat in my opinion. I believe having shades and highlights well is a must to give a realistic and a 3D look to images. But somehow you added an exposure radial gradient again and it's good

Excellent step by step video! One question though, I've noticed more and more photographers using lightroom are using radial masks rather than the adjustment brush. Don't you lose a bit of "adjustability"when not using a brush? And is there a particular reason why you favor the radial filter? Thanks!
@MarkDumbleton
@MarkDumbleton Год назад
Hi, thanks for the comment. I use the brush still, it’s a coincidence I haven’t made a video yet including a brush mask. My reason for using the radial filter will be to create a more broad adjustment in a circular shape, and then I will use a brush to create a more defined mask that is perhaps an odd shape that the radial filter can’t handle.

Hi Mark, Another great video, thank you. Can you please discuss why you prefer to take the blacks all the way up rather than using a black & white point to begin editing. Cheers, Garnet
@MarkDumbleton
@MarkDumbleton Год назад
Hi Garnet, thanks a lot for the comment. Personally I prefer softer blacks. There is nothing wrong with having a true black point in an image, but for me personally I like to have my blacks a little bit hazy. I often find in nature there never really is a true black, and for this reason I like raising up the black slider to increase exposure in the dark areas. I’ll make a video about this topic soon.
