1. Don't do study groups if you'll get distracted 2. Get involved in extracurriculars 3. Stop procrastinating 4. Stop wasting time 5. Don't be nosy 6. Don't do something you hate
Speaking of procrastination I was in a graduate 500 level course (overachiever over here 🤪) and it was online and self-paced so we could do assignments whenever we wanted and just had to have them all submitted by the last day of the semester. Guess who put 90% of that class off until 3 days before the semester ended. Imagine doing a 3-credit graduate level course in 3 days. Biggest mistake ever lmao
If you struggle with annotations I recommend that you just summarize major events from the chapter/section in a numbered list somewhere near the beginning of that chapter and then mark them in the chapter with that number in case you need to find it again.
Bro, you are way ahead of the game. At least you have identified the mistakes you've made in your Freshman year. Most people don't even take the time to think about that. So, if you are not going to major in Bio, what is going to be your major ?
THANK U FOR THIS!!! GWU CLASS OF 2023 HEREE🙃🙃🙃. CANT WAIT TO ALSO FILM VLOGS AND VIDEOS LIKE THESE FROM A FIRST GEN STUDENT PERSPECTIVE WHEN I GET THERE😆😆😊😊❤💙💙
“ It doesn’t mean to not fight and push though things that are hard, But if you’re not feeling it 100% and your heart is not there maybe you should consider other options. “ I really need this. Fr.
I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about all of that time wasting and procrastination stuff. You were saying that you pushed through the year as a Bio major even though you were really unhappy doing it... if you hate what you're doing you're not gonna wanna do it, and that's probably why you always felt so unmotivated to do your work as soon as you got it and procrastinated. It was you unconsciously pushing away something you didn't want to do. I know that you'll find your passion in your major and then all of these time management issues will go away... anyways, thank you for being so honest in your vids and especially in this one; we need more of this kind of college content :))
*Varies by college but DO NOT BUY the whole list of books (smh) . Ask past students what books were actually needed. I literally rented a $200 chemistry book that sat in my dorm draw and never used it 🙄. My summer English course , all the books we wrote essays on was literally online and I wasted $30 renting a English book... again.
your videos are honestly such an encouragement, you put all my college hype in perspective and it's just great to hear all this from somebody my age p.s. drop some skincare methods(??)
#3 and #4 are great for people like we who have adhd! I’ve been taking meds since middle school, and making a schedule of when to do my work is very helpful for me :)
I’m going into college next fall and these videos are really setting the mood for me. Btw I like your yellow hoodie. Keep the videos coming 😫👏🏻 they slap
When you dropped Bio, what major did you switch to? Did you end up losing a lot of credits? Asking from someone who is going into a major with intentions to switch already
(disclaimer I don't go to gw this is general advice) have an English teacher proofread your essays, find out if you prefer the sat or act and just focus on that one, have fun with your essays- you're supposed to show your personality in them, apply for fafsa even if you think you're not gonna get anything, apply for any scholarships you can, don't constantly skip class esp in second semester, be nice to your teachers
Lol yes, if you don't come from a rich family you will be eating at the dining hall everyday. Campus restaurants are tempting and also going out with friends but start slow with a part time job and look for campus jobs (more flexible) and go-to career center if you don't have a resume.
