Hey, just a heads up for anyone travelling, never confirm for anyone you are alone. No stranger on the street, in a lounge, in the airport lobby needs that information. They aren't just being nosy and quirky they are gathering information.
Absolutely. Wouldn't be surprised if that guy asking her if she'd found her friend uses that line with women to see if they're alone so he can prey on them. Be careful, ladies.
yeah, dude clearly came to her with the friend thing as a test to see if she was with anyone. huge risk to say she was there alone. she should've lied and said she was gonna meet up with someone because they were waiting for her
@@Ray_Vun she technically wasn't alone cause she was with her dad since it overlapped with CES but she didn't want to give too much info. she also was aware that if things weren't looking right, she could call her dad for help
There was a room set up in the Expo just for people who were coming to the awards show and nominees, to get their passes to the event, and thier passes to the red carpet. I only managed to find this room because i had a contact with someone who knew people at AVN. You needed to get this squared away days in advance as there wasn't like tickets waiting "at the door" (we had assigned seats in the theater). But there was really no way to know this, through any email contact or anything. Being at the Expo really did help but having a contact within the business helped even more. I'm generally really paranoid about things falling apart when I'm at events like this, so i double check and triple check to make sure i have the proper passes and stuff.
@@Jayfive276 iconic can be colloquially used to mean “iconic within the canon of media consumed by the individual” like… “iconic to me”. So there is no reason to call out the usage, it is correctly used within that context
I feel like the woman who asked if you were in the industry at the red carpet might've been making sure you were in the right place. Like "oh she's dressed up and surrounded by guys who aren't, and there's a lot of chaos with trying to get in, I'll go see if she's lost"
That whole “looking for you friend” interaction sounds terrifying. I’m glad you got your bagel and also hope you immediately texted your dad or something, just so someone knew what you were doing/where you were.
This is probably an odd comment, but I appreciate you being open and commenting about how Lisa passing affected your ability to get out videos and also not apologizing for it. It's nice to see people transparent about grief. And too many that do feel the need to apologize for when their productivity is impacted
@@__-yh7pn if you saw her video where she got a dna test for Hermes Lisa was the other woman in the video with her when Amanda did a dna test for her service dog

I know right? You're the person who has an extra tampon when the machine is out, or hands toilet paper under the door to someone in a stall who realized too late their stall is missing a roll, and you feel like a hero all day.
The moment of helping a stranger in or out of their outfit reminded me a lot of anime conventions. Also have done this for friends of course but that's just more normal.
@@rememberpickles My favorite moment recently was in Florida. College bar, everyone is wasted. One of the doors won't close, so I'm pushing my body into it. Another girl did the same for me so nobody barged in on accident. Then we all fixed each others hair. lol
I went to a strip club once and ended up sick in the bathroom. There were 3 girls working there looking after me, if i needed something, helping me get up. They were very sweet, and also had their titties out 😂
I was at this event! Both the awards show, and the expo. I was nominated and attended as talent, but I was not working with or representing any companies. I had to pay for my expo ticket, but my award show ticket was provided. As far as how did nominees find out? They didn't tell us, they just posted it and you had to find out by scrolling through yourself. While this was a great event for networking and meeting other stars, there's a LOT that AVN could have done to make it easier on both fans and performers. I don't have the best input as this was my first time attending an adult industry show since I'm new to the industry, but how I felt afterwards seemed to align with a lot of my friends who have been performers for longer. One thing I will definitely make note of is as a performer, I felt EXTREMELY UNWELCOMED by Resorts World. This was a recurring issue amongst a lot of performers. The treatment was pretty frustrating, especially when they were hosting such an event.
Was Resorts World staff unwelcoming or just downright rude? Found out at a few comic-cons how frustrating it can be when you're excited and there celebrate and network, but everything is going wrong and even the staff are unwilling to help sort anything out. Hope it gets sorted out at the next awards!
@@music_YT2023 It makes me sad to know that other conventions and expo attendees have had similar issues! They were downright rude. I understand that the nature of this expo was rather explicit, but I got kicked out of the hotel each time I tried to leave the expo for being 'inappropriately dressed.' My group and I had not only followed the posted dress code, but we even covered up a bit extra. I attended the expo for the final two days, and BOTH days as we were already leaving, staff was screaming at us to go back upstairs and told us we couldn't be in the hotel. My 'offensive' attire was a latex dress and a latex skirt and top combo. All covered far more than was required. The second day even resulted in me being escorted out.... AS I WAS ALREADY LEAVING. I will never attend any kind of event at resorts world again. This also made the event very inconvenient for us because the only way we could eat during the day is if we left the hotel and came back, IF we would be let back in. We were able to go other places dressed as we were with ZERO issue. It did not make us feel great.
Soo heyyy hiii ♥️ I’m a 🌽✨ who was nominated hahahaa I didn’t go but I would like to also mention I believe a lot of this chaos was def because this the first AVN since 2020 lock down but also it was in a completely new location. I had a feeling it was going to be so crazy 🫣 I’m sad now I didn’t go I would have loved to meet youuu💔
Oh and to answer your question depending on what company you go with depends on how much you have to pay so for example I don’t have to pay for anything including ticket to the show my only expense would be my hotel room which I get discounted. Most girls share a room and split the cost 💓
At this point we need Swell to go to the next one just to do a meet and great themselves so we can cause them to go through the most immense gay pan!c bless
I know this has nothing to do with your comment or the video and I know you probably get this all the time, but you are sooo gorgeous 🤗 sorry, I just had to put that out there lol
I don’t think you’re a bad person for appreciating someone’s boobs when they’ve clearly done quite a bit of work to get people to appreciate them! I’d be flattered personally.
@@gsesquire3441 you’re right. The only people who like the “don’t compliment strangers” modern rule are the people who never get compliments regardless of the rules.
Yeah can't say I blame em lmao I wouldn't be surprised if had someone approached her to film. I initially thought that when she mentioned girl on the red carpet.
"it's not that i don't think i'm hot enough. it's not that." this channel continues to be the place where i've seen the most accurate portrayal of what it's like when men think they're gonna be rocking your world by telling you that actually you ARE plenty attractive actually. like... so many men really just assume that women have a baseline self esteem of zero, and that when they compliment us they'll also be entitled to something from us just because they deemed us worthy of a compliment. and what i love about this channel's representation of that is just the matter-of-fact ways in which these anecdotes are relayed. cuz yeah, it's just part of everyday interactions for so many of us. just girly things 😊✌🙃
Your ability to just pass over the whole "stilted dialogue" and "awkward line delivery" bit without making the obvious comparison is actually impressive
@@Gel677 of their porns vs their presenting at the awards. Yk how acting and writing in porns is often described the same as the show’s presenting was. Basically the obvious comparison = obvious joke
I couldn’t relate more to the “I don’t drink, I can’t hang past midnight” because I’m literally excitedly watching this in bed, super happy because my friends had wanted to go out tonight but forgot which meant I got to be lazy and watch RU-vid 😂
And how many years has AVN been doing this? *one Google search later . . .* Since 1984? You’d think 38 years would have been long enough for them to get their shit together.
Went to the convention in 2007 and the first day it took 75 minutes to get in the next day 45. Can't remember the reason exactly for the delay but it was definitely fubar so bad that they had to change the whole plan for admission. Other than the the hot dogs and popcorn choices for food (not kidding) we had a great time. We vetoed the awards show
Ooohhh boy. I attended as a model every year for 10 years and this year i skipped.. I cannot express how terrible the event management is year after year. The worst was the year they gave us talent badges with QR codes for the expo. We had to wear these around our necks. The QR codes, when scanned went to a plain webpage that simply listed our model name next to our real full legal name. Fans could easily scan these in the crowded expo hall. This is beyond dangerous. It took 3 days of me trying to warn every model quietly via my network but also not let it get out publically to fans and also contact the management. It started wed. They fixed the leak FRIDAY. Models were using sharpies to hide the qr codes.
To answer about talent getting in: it depends. The studios with booths typically cover your tickets to the expo. But you may need a certain level of fame or earnings or commit to working a slot at the booth, appearing at events etc. The awards: again if you're working for a studio they may get you in but it will depend on your fame level. Some camsites have areas for their models. The year i was nominated i would have needed to pay but I was able to go with a site i have a camming account on. However i was turned away from red carpet and my name was skipped on nominee list. (For context I am an independant model, white with a chubby/curvy body type for the adult industry standards) Also avn did not contact me to tell me i was nominated. Fans told me. Avn took a random photo from my twitter and misspelled my name and there was no easy way to contact them. I was able to email someone but had to lean on my network.. there was no official contact page or email
I hope they address the racial disparities and recognition in the industry. Too many demographics are made to feel othered and fetishized. Still, happy you went and had a good time. GJ to William for sorting out the tasteful blurring.
@@designereyebags dude for someone who said their skipping this one you spent a lot of time in the comments shitting on people for just talking about the industry…it’s fine you don’t like porn and take issues with it but going in a bunch of comments getting pissy about people who arnt against it but think the industry has issues isn’t “skipping it” we get it you have opinions but I’ve seen you get defensive almost immediately when someone dosnt agree with you. Just move along like you said you were
Yup its extremely disgusting how a lot of POC are fetishized even among one another. That's a whole person that you're attaching nonsensical stereotypes to to get your rocks off 🤢
I think having a ticket, band, and being on a list is good in terms of security and ensuring the proper people get in but the lack of ensuring that the actors and actresses getting in is wild. 9:17 that timing was beautiful It seems like the people in charge wasn't as prepared as they thought.
I would have told security about the "I come to your room" guy. Awkward social engineering and forwardness was a huge red flag in a environment like that. He sounded super creepy if not potentially dangerous. As for the rest, award shows always bored me. The boobs probably would have made it slightly more bearable but only for a little while. I might have stuck around the after party for a little bit but yeah, no food, no point. I would have gone out to look for a buffet.
"I don't have plans to go into the industry at this point in time." I totally know Amanda would never work that way, but my mind had the reflex to read that as "Once this ship sinks maybe" or "For a price, I'll do almost everything".
For a former worker of a pornshop, I'm surprised AVN Awards even exist anymore. So much has changed as far as how porn is consumed now that I don't have the same enthusiasm to watch porn like i did when they were sold on DVD and Blu-ray only
Racism, transphobia, and other discrimination is something that is really a huge problem in the industry. When I was putting videos on ManyVids between 2017 and 2020, I remember having friends get nominated for their award shows and being excited but when the show came around, the same like 5 cis white women that earned the website the most money swept almost all of the awards. And same thing, the nominees weren't named, only winners. These same women also were caught again and again for dressing up in racist or other problematic costumes or making videos around really problematic topics and never seeing any consequences and in fact getting rewarded for the same behavior via these awards. That's just one website and how it operated, but I'm sure similar trends prevail at other places.
@@gsesquire3441 bruh it’s not modern “pc” nonsense people been demanding change in many industries since the beginning…just because it’s never affected you dosnt mean it didn’t exist before the internet and sitting on your hands and being like “things never change so everyone needs to shut up about it” is dismissing and shitty as hell. Glad your down to watch RU-vidrs who very strongly don’t agree with you tho since Amanda is pro sex work as well as fixing up the industry that literally wouldn’t exist without all these models and workers making the content that makes them money
This is a great video, man the AVN as a whole is a huge mess & the communication is the 1st of their problems & thank goodness you highlighted more than the communication mumbo jumbo, also its true certain performers of the adult film industry especially on Twitter is either shadow banned or banned altogether
Well gen con in Indianapolis also host the ENNIE Awards, which are like the role playing game awards. They also host a film festival that has a big sci fi and horror Bias to it. We tend to enter the film festival every year because it gives a massive discount for tickets.
I really appreciate your videos about these cons and expos that I would have never thought existed, let alone think of visiting. For wallflowers and sticky beaks everywhere, I thank you for your service and thoughtful recounts.
I had a ticketing nightmare also. I paid for the Expo, and they sent me a ticket for something on Saturday, having to do with AVODADOS!!! Totally serious. They told me I only had a ticket for Saturday, thinking it was the awards show. So I bought a new Expo ticket. On Saturday, I could not get into the Awards show without buying yet another. On a better note, I got to interview a ton of the stars, and they were, almost without exception, magnanimous, generous with their time, and very kind. I'm assuming they flirted with everyone, but it felt good, all the same. 😁😄
This was the exact same shitshow, yet again, just days ago for the 2024 AVNs. Some people were given passes, some bracelets, some just tickets on the phone. Mind you we were not only VIP, but we were guests of a nominee, who became infuriated after she heard what we dealt with. We did have one angel-in-disguise, who was one of the show runners who eventually just escorted us around with a few other VIPs. By far the most disorganized event I have ever been to, but all aside, it was still an absolute blast, albeit draining.
Regarding women's bathrooms... You're so right, it is a whole different world in there, I have also had many interesting conversations with strangers!! 🤣
Fr! If it weren't for the atrocious mismanagement and frankly excessive price tag, this would be a very fun event to attend (and be in a constant state of bi panic)
I was wondering at what point someone was going to try to pick you up 😂😂😂 I almost went this year but can’t stop getting severely ill so thank you for the coverage about it being difficult to figure anything out even for the models- there’s no union to talk about these things and everyone is their own entity/sole proprietor of their business, so I’m not even sure how they’d unify properly to work things out other than the actual planners having someone help them relay the messages to all the different companies and those companies telling all the sole proprietors?
Never thought I’d see Amanda reviewing an Adult Video award show, but here we are. Really curious how many more patrons she got after these videos lol. People gotta see that B-Roll.
Hey, well done. I hope the award organizers have seen your review and have listened. Not only regarding this event but for the others you have attended. You do a wonderful job. full disclosure. I only started watching your channel a few days ago after it was repeatedly recommended by RU-vid and after I had initially ignored it I am glad that I did watch (binged). so congrats. I do luv the intro and haven't gotten tired of it yet.
I would guess people might dress differently for an awards show and school, but admittedly I haven't even been keeping up with Euphoria so I don't know what the vibe is.
I live in MI and 42° is when I see people in jackets but with open sandals and some people in t shirts only, of course the sane people are wearing 2 layers but some people are not cold at 42° or do not care they are cold.
@@seanthebluesheep -17 feels like you're gonna die because you're outside unless what you are wearing costs several thousand dollars but in these states that get very cold they are expecting small children who tend to throw a fit about being asked to wear their gloves waiting possibly a long time (especially if the roads are not plowed, could be 30 minutes+) for their bus and walk in the cold I remember being taken outside for recess and being so inundated by cold I could not play, just found somewhere a bit insulated from the wind. I was pretty thin as a child which did not help. And I also remember school being closed more often as we had a different superintendent, and having recess inside due to extreme cold. The new superintendent had us going to school in polar vortex and it was very difficult and sometimes my dad would just decide we were not, in fact, going to school and I think mass absences ended the era of excessively keeping school open a bit. Like you were expected to go to school but your car got stuck or didn't start and your bus had you waiting at the stop in the cold for 40 minutes for several days, it was not easy to learn in this environment especially in high school where you crossed campus, outside.
