This video is about a technician repairing an air conditioning unit and exposing some misleading practices by other companies.
The customer called John Moore because they saw their commercial advertising a free service charge. The technician from WW HVAC, the channel that made this video, says that John Moore likely charged a very high price to make up for the free service charge.
The technician also mentions that ARS, another HVAC company, charged the customer $49 for maintenance but then tried to sell them $1,800 worth of repairs. The technician from WW HVAC believes that these repairs were not necessary.
The technician working on the unit in the video says that he normally charges a $150 service fee, but he waived it this time because he was already in the area and the job was quick and easy. He was able to clear the drain line and add a cap to the vent pipe in less than 20 minutes and charged the customer $207.
The technician also recommends that the customer install a larger drain pan and a float switch. These parts will help to prevent the unit from flooding if the drain line clogs again. The video ends with the technician complaining that he cannot compete with companies that advertise free service charges because he cannot afford to run TV commercial
