UK company Exposure have always pushed the pioneering tech when it comes to MTB lights, but that also means premium pricing. Is the latest version of their Diablo helmet light worth the extra money compared to other brands?
Thanks to Giro, Peaty’s and Crud for sponsoring the channel, Exposure for sending the light in for test and for my Patreon supporters for their monthly pledges. Freaking Fantastic no BS review. Done by someone who actually rides more than a couple hours a week. Thank You !!

Why doesn’t anobody mentioned in this day and age do you have to deal with a proprietary charging cord. Can’t believe I can’t get USB
@chadwells7562
@chadwells7562 7 месяцев назад
It’s not that simple. Exposure has been using this plug design for over 20 years, before USB was mainstream. Common USB connection standards have also gone through 3+ iterations since that time. Exposure has also sold many expensive accessories in that time period that would be made uses by a connection plug change. USB has also only become the charging standard for most consumer devices in less than 10 years. Before that most non-computing devices had propriety chargers. Modern USB-C connectors are also prone to breaking when any torque is applied. Not ideal for fitness devices. The Exposure connector is much more robust. Given the durability of their products and the continually changing nature of USB, Exposure is right to keep their proprietary plug.

@@chadwells7562 thanks. It’s really is pretty simple. Basically every manufacturer of battery powered devices has switched to usb. Also I know all that about usb cords. Thanks for mentioning though. They need to make a change at some point. USB c for example, would allow the fastest charging and allow users to carry less cords. I do a lot of bike packing and bike touring and would never buy one of these products because I would lose the cord and wouldn’t be able to use the light anymore (ie hard to find a replacement)

Features no one’s asking for, they are far too big aswell , that six pack one is a joke , coke can on your bars . I’ll be sticking with magicshine lights 2hours at 8000lumens much better beam pattern and better warranty service

Fantastic customer support. My joystick was over 3 years old when I dropped it and it stopped working. Sent it off to them on a Monday and Exposure repaired it f.o.c. incl return postage and had it back to me by the Friday..

Exposure do look after you well if you have a problem. The build quality is fantastic. The rubber port plug is a sod. The switch is finicky. The battery life is cack if you run them at full bore, but if you drop back to medium or even low you still have lots of light with many hours runtime. Best of all no cables and really good mounts. Chilli tech is bloody good stuff for the money and the support is also very good. Thank you all!

I think 1800 on your head is overkill personally. 1000 is ample. I have a magicshine 1500 helmet light currently and it’ll easily last me a 3 hour night ride when switching between modes, with juice to spare. Lights have come a long way in recent years and you no longer need to spend £500 to get a basic set up! Exposure are overbuilt and overpriced IMO.

Magicshine knocking it out of the park ATM IMHO. 6500 on the bars, 3500 on the helmet, Garmin mounts both, £400 all-in.

They are going to be left behind by lights that are brighter, more simple and cheaper. Chillitech for example. Just saying "factory support" a lot makes me think I'm going to need it!

I've had the six pack and diabolo for years, use 4 time a week and never had any problems. I think the secret is to keep them charged up after a ride.

Enjoyed the video, but was actually interested in the Mount, and whether or not it may work with the Fenix P36 (or something like that). Many thanks. Cheers

Do you know what the diameter of the Fenix is and I can check. It'll take any torch style light if the size is right

Thanks for a great review; I have a Zenith. My concern is the helmet mount and how it prevents the MIPS system from rotating. After experiencing a concussion in March this year. I purchased a Fox Speedframe helmet with MIPS, as it is now the season for running lights I fitted the Zenith to the helmet and noticed that internal MIPS 'sleeve' does not rotate. Not something I want to see, particularly as we are now experiencing icey roads up here in Aberdeenshire.

Flipping heck, I had a USE suspension seatpost way back in the '90's on an old hardtail Kona Fire Mountain....Alas, this bike was stolen in a burglary many years ago.... As for Exposure lights, I use a Sirius Mk 9 on my bars....it's alright and does the job adequately....Way too expensive for performance in my view though.....I've got other lights half price with better performance in length of brighter burn time (Lezyne 1300XXL), but time will tell though.....I have had a few comments from walkers regarding the Sirius in flash mode with very reports on the trail....That is a plus point for the light in twilight conditions....It could be a good helmet light but it'd way lower lumens thsan the one your testing.....

Purchased this light because I've had Reflex for years and its been perfect! Diablo is a good light but is too expensive and just wish the run time was longer on full power. I'm sure it will be reliable for years to come though.

I tried a Six-pack a few years ago now and it would always be auto flicking to different settings, I had to return it and tried a different model in the range but that suffered with the same problem. I went with a Hope R4 in the end which has been faultless. I never heard of any other problems at the time but I believe it was definitely a faulty batch off control pcb's. Would be interested if anybody else suffered with the same problems.

2 things need to change on exposure lights. USB C instead of the current power cable/port please. And a USB power adapter on the Dynamo Revo light to enable people to power their devices. Apart from that, good products.

Is the Diablo or Zenith more suited for a helmet spotlight only?
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV 2 года назад
TBH you’re not going to notice the extra 200 lumens of the Zenith or the wider beam (which I’ve not verified) on a helmet. Spending the £50 you’d save on the extender battery is much better idea overall.

Hi have a Diablo, the light is great but the mounts are awful. Basically end up using it as a rather expensive torch
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV 2 года назад
You using it on bar or helmet?
@rsmithuk
@rsmithuk 2 года назад
@@GuyKesTV the helmet mount specifically, the ball joint keeps popping the torch holder part off. Also it's not that stable in the way it interfaces with the helmet (Oakley DRT5, although not the greatest helmet I'll say) and the screw isn't long enough for it to mount to my Giro Switchblade
@GuyKesTV
@GuyKesTV 2 года назад
@@rsmithuk it normally only pops off if the screw pushes through too far?
@rsmithuk
@rsmithuk 2 года назад
@@GuyKesTV I don't believe the screw is pushing too hard into the part with the ball joint but that could be a possibility.......that would introduce another issue though around mounting it. I know the typical Velcro strap mounts aren't the best but they do tend to be secure and fit virtually everything

An hours runtime is a BIG BIG drawback, there are loads of other more powerful longer lasting lights out there with decent helmet mounts.
@JamesBond-wy6sb
@JamesBond-wy6sb 2 года назад
It's only one hour runtime on when on maximum power. It's easily switched to 2 other far more economical settings which are more than powerful enough.
