Just had my 7 year old diablo and maxx-d refurbished, back to A1 as new for a relatively low cost. They really are the best lights!

Sam, what was needed for both? I have both lights and they work great. My Maxx-D is making a battery thunk, I am thinking the battery got loose. Ever have that issue?

@@sunderhill999 Thank you so much. They are great to deal with. I had a battery that lost power pretty quick when sitting around. They gave me the instructions on how to reset the battery. Worked great.

Another thumbs up from me for Exposures after sales service - I needed a light repaired (Id dropped it several times so no criticism) and they dis a full repair, resolder, software update etc etc (basically would have been easier for them to give me a new one!) and total cost was around £12 including return postage. I was really pleased to find they were Sussex based as used this as an excuse to save the postage and cycle out there from Brighton!

I have a Joystick probably Mk2 or so from God knows when, and a Toro Mk4 from about 2013. Many tens of thousands of commuting miles and they are both still going. About time I sent them back for a refresh, but absolute quality. Who would expect an 11 year old torch to still perform!?

I've used and abused my Exposure Strada 1200 for 3 years 10,000 mountain bike miles (always take the light on every ride day or night and always turned on when mountain biking in the muddy woods. Plus 3000 miles on my folding bike commuting around London city (and always on day or night for safety). On the Mountian bike I hang upside down under the handlebars (the display auto inverts:-) and has survived numerous crashes and wipeouts hiding under the bars, and has been covered in mud, rain, pressure washed and even fell in a river once. The best feature is the main beam/dipped beam mode (high and medium). It's just like a car headlight, and on the dipped beam can see really well without blinding other road/trail users, and one flick of the remote switch toggles back and forth between main and dipped (no having to loop through multiple modes every time dipping the beam) This was my second Exposure light, the first lasted 10 years of abuse before the battery started to fade and now use as a backup low powered light/flashing mode. My third is an Exposure Axis MK7 helmet light to complement the Strada on the trails. My fourth, I've just ordered: a Strada 1500 Mk10 SB, so I can have twin headlights again (which in the dark muddy woods I find a lot better than one much more powerful light, as softens shadows resulting in an easier to see more 3D view, and is less tiring on the eyes) And can even angle the lights slightly apart resulting in a super wide-angled beam which is brilliant for winding trials. Exposure lights are amazing quality, very user friendly, brilliant illumination, and are worth every penny. Basically, they just work!

Happy with my 2012 Sixpack (2000 lumen). It had an early issue where it sometimes wouldn't turn on after a full charge but a free firmware update cured that. It's a great light.

As a bikepacker i wish that Exposure could update their dynamo light the Revo. It’s would be beneficial to have a USB socket to power other devices/battery pack. A on off switch for the light to choose either to power the light or the USB socket. Also to have a power input, so if you need better light on uphills you can power the light directly from a power bank. Every light they are making has been upgraded apart from the Revo, maybe make a basic Revo and a advanced model for those that want extra features. Thanks

dynamo's just don't put out enough power. You're better off carrying extra 18650 batteries, a light that uses removable 18650s (like the Fenix BC30), and a power brick that also runs on removable 18650s (like the nitecore F4 which can both recharge depleted 18650s, and also use those 18650s as a power brick to charge your other devices via usb).

The good thing w an external battery is that you can upgrade the head unit as needed, and the weight sits lower

@@royayersrules Hi dude. I bought something different and cheaper a while ago. I was looking fo these ones, but when I was looking at the video of Seth about these lights I was going for some sigma lights instead. Have fun dude and clear vision at the nights at all time👍

The basic rubbery ones that come with the smaller lights are a bit lame to be fair, but they work and I haven't had much problems with them rotating about usually. I replaced mine with the aftermarket metal QR mount with plastic C-clip though. They seem pretty good to me, never had a problem, put the light back right where I want it every time, but yeah, you then gotta fork out £22 more on top of the light. They also do the metal stem mounts too but they don't line up with my stem so I can't fit those and they also don't come with the Joystick/Diablo plastic clip part. Top tip: If you buy these posher QR ones keep the plastic C-part on your light if not using it, not on the mount. Otherwise if you do a trail that's a bit hard for you and hit a Christmas tree it may come off and you might not notice til you get to the bottom, then have to go back to the top and redo the same trail so you can stop and find it rather than fork out another £22 for the entire new mount!! 🤣 Thankfully that was uplift back up Bikepark Wales and it wasn't too hard to find, not 3 hours of pedalling back up! It just popped straight back in the quick release good as new (unlike the now scuffed paint job on my new bike 😕).

Great lights. I seem to find with my Diablo it's superb on highest setting, but if it's freezing winter out (normally the time of year I'm using lights - dark after work), the battery doesn't last as long and I can rinse the battery in less than an evening ride. So half the time on an evening out I'm too scared to run it on full barely ever, else I'm forever poking with it, then I defo can't ride as fast without the brightest mode, and then half the time end my ride with most of the battery left! D'oh! I'm considering one of those 6-pack jobs as my mate has one and never has to worry if it'll last, and it auto dims and properly says how long is left too (and it seems quite accurate). Gonna be at least the summer with nice light evenings by the time I'd have spare money for one though as it's thrice the price. >_

Looks like the raw bars are delivered through that garage door, so floorspace in the current layout probably doesn't permit one. It's also a big extra layout for machinery for a small return on efficiency.

Could you also check out Lupine? In my mind they are way more useful and better quality. Have my Pico mounted constantly under the visor of my Fullface and just add the battery to the back when light might be needed.

I bit the bullet and shelled out the cash a few years ago after another brand of light let me down. I can't use anything else now. Expensive but well worth evey penny. The aftermarket service is also phenomenal if you ever need it.

They look great except for the charging port, I wish it used USB C or even wireless, especially for the high price. I'll stick with my helmet mounted Bontrager ion pro rt :)

I'd rather they had the one they do. Looks a lot more heavy duty/weatherproof and you can also power a rear light or run a remote from the same port (although I haven't tried that myself). I'm regularly guilty of hanging the light from it's lanyard off my bars and the charge cable just reaching it. I'd never risk that if it was USB-C.

No. There is no comparison between those lights and the high quality and extreme brightness of the Exposure. Not to mention the ability to program them and the convenience of built-in batteries. Yes Exposure are spendy lights but they are a lifetime investment and a joy to use if you do a lot of night riding on the trais

Quality is incomparable, but I will say the recent advent of high-power LEDs and widespread lithium cells has really closed the gap in performance between cheap lights and expensive lights. Back in the day of NiMH/NiCad and halogen you had no choice but to buy expensive lights if you wanted to MTB at night, and then along came expensive HID lights, which were not even as bright as cheap modern eBay LEDs.

People that complain about the price are riding Halfords bikes. Quality costs. Innovation costs. Keeping manufacturing in your own country costs. Buying cheap from Ali Express doesn't put anything back into the industry or economy. Think bigger. Save longer. Keep the wheels turning.

I agree with everything other than the Halfords comment. Let’s not be bike snobbish here. I think that the warranty isn’t always known, trusted or understood. If it is truly lights for life than, as you say, save up and buy as they should last as long as the company does this later part is where I agree with the rest of your comments.

@@GaryMackman As someone who's worked for Halfords, Evans and other independent bike shops, I'm no snob. You can get a decent starter Orbea MX50 in 27.5 or 29 for what you pay for a terrible Apollo with rim brakes. It's my experience that people who focus on the cost something never see the value of anything, let alone look into warranty or features. What kind of LED; CREE, XPG Etc? How many cycles will the battery take? Can I actually use this on a helmet due to its weight? Does it include all the mounts I need? Are the cables properly weather sealed? Honestly, I've sold hundreds of lights. I'd only buy Exposure or Hope currently for off-road use. Partially for the reasons above and mostly for the reasons in my initial comment. If you can't afford it new, buy it 2nd hand. The quality is inside the thing, the scuffs on the outside are irrelevant.

All the relevant info is on their site, what exactly do you think they are hiding? Doddy didn't do a great job differentiating between OMS and ITM, that's not quite how they work. On full power when not moving the ITM manages the heat to care for the LEDs and long term battery health. Once moving again the outer casing cools the body down as it's one big heatsink, it can do that because it's cycle specific and OMS knows you're probably climbing/fixing a flat/laughing at a mate who's fallen off, so don't need full power. $50 wouldn't buy you a bit for their lathe/router, let alone the man hours for a warranty. Someone designed them to do a thing well, that's worth money. It takes little skill and 0 respect to and reverse engineer and claim to be better, and it's a terrible business model. Coke is just a few pennies worth of fizzy water and sugars, but nobody can make it quite the same. I look forward to testing $50 Cheddar702 lights against my Diablo Mk11 Sync.

I see your point, in a way, however I don't think the issue is Exposure's fault: The problem throwing numbers around is that it's easy for a magazine, blogger or site to bullet point that and lead the consumer in that direction; more is better Etc. Look at people shopping for bikes now, kids who aren't heavy enough to get full travel from a trail fork demanding enduro length stanchions and adding tokens. All because they've heard it from a YT personality. Eliminating potentially the perfect bike from their shortlist because the head angle isn't 'aggressive' enough, even though they only ride XC. You see my line of thought. Looking at their (Exposure's) page they differentiate quite clearly between Reflex+ and Output, as well as have individual videos on each technology to explain what they do. What Doddy did was get carried away as usual and throw out an easy to digest tidbit. This is why a bricks and mortar bike shop with personal knowledge of what they sell is invaluable in a world of Wiggle, CRC and Jenson's Etc throwing flashy numbers and discounts at you for selling all your cookie data. Exposure, Hope, Orange have all been local employers to me at different times. The difference having an industry like that around for young engineers is priceless. I'll add Hunt to that list, though I've not had a chance to try their rims. Back to my point, a certain element of responsibility should be on the consumer to research what they are buying, especially at that end of the market. It's also poor journalism to present only the flashy numbers without context and explanation, though really, this video was just supposed to highlight the process behind the lights and the history of USE.

The reflex function doesn’t have to be used. I never use reflex, I choose the program modes that suit what I want. That’s the great thing with these lights.

For me they a British made and are a top quality dependable light, you might get a brighter light but yo get to a point in brightness where the “ extra “ does not make much difference and is therefore a waste of battery power, having a nit that responds to its environment is really what i need.

Try using them an maybe you'll change your mind. And if you bothered to watch the video you will see you can keep the light for life and send it back to them for a cheap service/fix if ever needed. I'm not sure many companies do that. But by all means buy a cheap light and go enjoy yourself with it.

sorry exposure, I'm loyal to Fenix. Maybe if you make something like the discontinued BC30 you will find a niche. I hate that all the new lights have built in batteries or separate packs. I will always prefer a light with removable 18650s, so I can carry an unlimited amount of extras in my bag if needed.

You can make your own battery packs with a simple 4mm DC plug that will plug into all their lights for extended burn time!

agree with this, look at the high quality flashlights out there that are 100% waterproof and just as bright with removable batteries. the only difference here is the mounting and gimmick electronics

Nice video but they so expensive. Sure they better than cheap Chinese ones but 5 or so times the price and lots super reliable ones out there. Plus external battery has so many advantages. Better to save on lights you use for few months of year and put to other bike parts ;-)

240€ for that small one? You what mate? Been super happy with my 10€ bike light + 10€ headlamp from Aliexpress. Super bright, great adjustments, battery powered.

I got one for 30$. Its a few years old, still charges fine and is blinding if need be. Far less weight too.

For those inexpensive lights you can easily swap new battery after few years, costs about 2€ each. LED can be swapped and soldered in few minutes and costs few euros.

Nobody needs 5,000 lumens on the trail (except for wow factor to show you have the brightest light in the group). All that does is produce insane amounts of glare off the surroundings back into your face. Sorry, but it's a lot of marketing gimmick. Want 5,000 lumens on your bars cheap? Try the BLF Q8 with a custom mount. (Active member of the MTBR Lights & Night Riding forum.)

That's horse shit. I've got the older Six pack / Diablo combo with 4750 / 1500 Lumens and I have zero glare from surroundings. More light makes it easier to ride faster, simple as. I find it funny when people moan about the price of something that they have not used or cant afford.
