7802 only had to retire from mainline running because it didnt have OTMR fitted and at the time they were also trying to finish off the overhaul work on 7812 Erlestoke Manor. Sorting both out was too much so they withdrew it from mainline operations, however once a solution to the ERTMS system for steam locos can be sorted then we may see a manor on the Cambrian network again. Provided gauging for them can be done.
Defiant is currently awaiting its turn at tyseley for the overhaul because betton grange is almost done with the overhaul and then they will start the overhaul to the duke of Gloucester and then kolaphur and hopefully fingers crossed for defiant to join with clun castle for mainline running once again
Duke of Gloucester's overhaul is ongoing so it isnt waiting to start. As for 5080 it's only the tender which is being focused on at present but once 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe is back in traffic they should make a start on it or 5593. However I doubt 5080 will be running intime by the time 7029's ticket expires.
9600 like 9466 and 7760 and 7752 are mainline panniers but only 9466 is the only pannier out there the other three 9600 7752 and 7760 are awaiting their turn for the overhaul
7760 & 9600 are both presently awaiting their turns in the overhaul queue but 7752 still has a valid ticket, however it wont be going on the mainline again until it's next overhaul is completed as the tyres arent to the legal standard for mainline running. 9466 however will be making a mainline return next month for the banking trips with 7029 & 6233.
5029's overhaul actually has started but main focus is on 60532 Blue Peter & 70000 Britannia. When I saw it previous the engine was just a set of wheeled frames without a boiler but some progress has been made on it & once 70000 has been finished it should pick up.
It started ages ago but was on the back burner for quite sometime as they were mainly focusing on 60532, however some progress was made but after 70000 was withdrawn for overhaul main priority went towards getting the Britannia back in traffic as 5029 needs much more work than 70000. Once either of those are back in traffic with 70000 being the more likely engine they will then focus main attention on 5029.
Center cylinder block needs replacing aswell as a new tender tank plus other major work to get it running again. Could be a few years as a result before it runs again and that depends also on when 34046 Braunton & 46100 Royal Scot are withdrawn for their overhauls, 34046's ticket I believe is next to expire and 46100's mainline ticket is either end of next year or year afterwards.
Work is now underway to get 6024 king Edward l to return to the mainline and they thought it would be a great idea to have both 6024 and 6023 to do mainline running but unfortunately plans were dropped and 6023 was then not available to return to mainline
It was the bloody draughting which caused issues for 6023 as it unlike the other two has an original single chimney fitted rather than the later double type. The cutdown height of the chimney caused issues with the blastpipe draughting so they had to find a solution to it and by the time they had got it sorted out it was too late in the ticket to have the loco mainline certified. What was hoped to be the return of the final king to the mainline came to nothing & now unless Didcot have a change of heart we may never again see 6023 on the mainline.
