@@rocker4577 A fellow pedant! That phrase shall no longer be used. The quid pro quo is that you must never use the word "off" when you mean "from". Deal?
@5.53 "what do you want us to do?" I don't really know mate. but apparently it's not play rugby. What a shocking decision. I'm all for safety, I really am, but you CANNOT be handing out yellows and reds to tacklers when the attacking player dips into the tackle. Hooker is squat, he's squared up to his man and hits him, but because the attacking player drops his body trying to bump the man off, and takes a shoulder to the face for his efforts, this is the tackler's problem? Head into the contact like a big boy and don't lead with your face.
God rugby has changed since I was playing ! You can't tackle anymore ? This has nothing to do with a high tackle, it's normal contact and it's the attacker who goes into it. High tackle is (or "was" ? Freaken nonesense of this pussies society to want to make violent sports "safe") with the arm not the shoulder.
Hé Bo tackle technic, yes things have changed! Guessing you took a few knocks to your head in your time? Modern players are much bigger then "your day" TBI is not something to laugh about and if we want to continue playing "this game" then the changes need to be made. Your opinion is "yours" world rugby make the rules for the future of the game. Maybe you can start your own game and make your own rules and we will see how that goes👍
"125 kg of pure Irish beef, charging towards the line. Almost impossible to stop!" 😂 6:34 I'm proud of what our Irish team has been able to achieve these last few years. But hats off to Japan, they are really strong too.
@@AlexBrown-xp7mt Sure. Fiji 🇫🇯 have always been the strongest Pacific island team imho.... and they had moments of being really good. But lets remember that they lost to Uruguay 🇺🇾, and they are out..... failed to reach the quarter finals.
@@Sabundy Not really different from the last few world cups. Hard for these teams to be competitive when a lot of their best players can't play because of club contracts, and they get less time to train together. Actually they often deliver their best performance during the last pool stage matches.
@Damian very true. The point of my comment is that its sad since they produce a lot of talent relative to their very small populations. But lack of money, and as you say.... losing a lot of said talent to other countries does make it very difficult for them.
@@thibautmerlin2376 Right. They do have many obstacles. But they have won more games, and at least gotten to further stages before. This year they were mostly a bust with the exception of some good Fijian playing imho.
I agree. It could be easily abused to get penalties and cards against the opponents. The attacker can't be protected at all costs. Just ask Bismarck du Plessis.
Oh that would make the game exciting wouldn't it? The attacking player has the right to run how he wants(we'll sort of no knees elbows or head buts) if we start making rules about how the attacking player will run there will be less try's and we don't want to end up like bloody soccer where we wait 80 minutes for one try or teams wining 9-3 and only penalties.
@@abcd1234jason There are already rules to dictate what an attacking player can't do when he/she run the ball. This would just be another add on to that list. Running into a tackle head first is just asking for unnecessary injuries.
The yellow card should be issue out to the Irishman Aki, as well And the yellow card for the Samoa player shouldn't be Because the Irish player dive down towards the tackle by the manu Samoa player, which is wrong for the referee to yellow card the Samoa. Too much confusion among the referees
Rugby is turning into a game of ballerinas with the tackle rules. If I was a coach I would be training my players to duck into every tackle in hope of scoring a free yellow or red card. The All blacks will be training for this..... watch this space, they will end up playing against 13 or 14 men in the final.
@@morneadsense I don't understand. Are you not saying that All Blacks will be intentionally ducking into tackles to get a yellow or red card for themselves?
Sinelungelo well don't complain, shoulder to head is auto red card, attacker lowered himself so it's a yellow. True rugby players agree with it same is happening in league now, if we didn't change our kids wouldn't have a sport to play
RED CARD????? If you watch it the Samoan player actually runs into the Irish player. So now all you have to do is run into the opposing player to get the yellow or red card. This game has really gone to shite.
@Johnny Rabsolutely correct but there is only one solution to the problem is just playing touch footy. End of the day is a contact sport, doesn't matter how hard they try head injuries cannot be avoided, accidental contact can happens so qiuck in a split second, which is something no coach in the world can teach or find a way to mitigate it. Aki's tackle was accidental, was happenning very quick, no way he can pulled out already committed and our 5/8 was falling on to it also on his knees. Finally, the ref got it right, means the card system.
@Johnny R sorry I was talking about Japan and Scotland's game, the collision between the Scottish 7 and Japan's prop, the ref didn't issue a card. Finally this card system ruining our game been fixed.
The samoan players right, wat the beep else are they spouse to do?? Tackle their legs, they'll just get yellow carded for tackling too low, wattaya do?
Buttahewaa _81 if you don't like it don't watch it. If you want these players to remember playing in the 2019 World Cup in 5 years time you would recognise that the changes being made to the tackling technic is needed. Otherwise go back to your arm chair old man👍
There's always Hope, but it's the Hope that kills ... Ireland have defeated New Zealand twice in the last 2 years, but the All-Blacks have looked in foreboding, imperious form in the pool stage!
@@ElMaestroGordo Ireland always have one big game in the world Cup... Previous years it was in the pool stage and we peaked way too early. We play better as underdog so bring on AB's I say
Samoa needs to spend less time in the gym lifting weights and more time on the pitch and running. Maybe a little less rice, pizza and ice cream would help them too.
Malo uso le ogosa'i malo le lokoguu malie mata e vaai faafetai malo le tamafai manuia outou uma uso manuia fo'i si o tatou atunuu pele o samoa alofa aku next time we win the world cup faafetai malo le taalo malo le faatamalii
Ref hands out red card to player who protests. Player: But... he tripped and then fell?! Ref: Doesn't matter, your boot hit his head. Player: But... But... I wasn't even running towards him. Ref: No matter, off you go. Intent, although hard to judge, should be considered. The cards at this WC have been ridiculous. Like a few years ago the Super Rugby final was ruined by a ridiculous red. This WC may end up the same way.
Good display against a very poor team. Ireland still lacking flair, and that bit of magic. Can’t see Ireland coming within 20 points of the all blacks. All blacks are at a different level.
You South Islanders are sore losers. May the best team win. NZ are beasts, but Ireland do stand an outside chance if they can bring their A-game on the day.
