In '92 I went to the movies to see Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act. It was Christmas Eve and I went alone, no one else came into the same theater, so I sat center middle. An attendant came in and laughed, I'm sure he wondered what all my loud laughing was about!! . Love Whoopi G❣️
I can't even imagine anyone other than Ken Jennings taking over the mantle of Alex Trebek. He is perfect for the job and a great host. Ken deserves the job - not just because he was one of its longest-term contestants, but because he reveres Alex's legacy so much and takes the legacy so seriously that you just want him to have it! Kudos to you, Ken!
Ken Jennings in his interview was so natural. He is not self-absorbed with his status as Jeopardy's host. Confident and genuinely enamored with knowing Alex Trebek and honoring him is honestly seen. Happy to answer questions and able to appear without wearing shoes. He will be a great long-lasting Jeopardy host. Well done, Ken.
Whoopi Goldberg has one of the most expressive faces in history. THAT'S why she excels in movies - because she's the conductor behind that marvelous face!
I’m with Whoopi. Tried marriage and truly loved being a mother but not a wife. Did have a significant other for almost a decade. But have been single since I was 45 and am now 81. I am more certain than ever that for me single is the only way I can be happy. I enjoy my male friends and just love meeting and knowing happy couples. But even dating stopped before age 50. Like Whoopiei know I’m cute.
Happily single after trying to date for 10 years and finding absolutely NOTHING left out there. All the good men are taken, or unfortunately passed on. I’m meant to only have friends from here on out, and I’m thankful for that.
@@Aquamary11 “…l’m meant to only have friends from here on out…” I hope you can keep an open mind and stay receptive to change. As Carlos Castaneda (via Don Juan) once said, “Life is more fun when you don’t know where the rabbit is hiding.”
I am a long standing fan but he’s not so funny anymore. I wish he depended less on his writers and more on his own wit. He’s brilliant, I want more from his own brain
To Bill Maher it's no stretch to ask anyone how they can vote for tRump, you know exactly well that it's not a sane or truly reasonable thing to do. We're talking about the presidency not a reality TV show.
On one of Ken’s first cameos reading the answer/ question , after it was finished , Alec tilted his head looked into the camera and said “ I like the way he did that . “ Yes ! Sounds like it was Alec naming his successor !
I,like Ken Jennings said every day expect to hear Johnny say your host Alrx Trebek.Cannot get Alex Trebek out of my head .Same with world news on ABC every day at 630 pm would listen to hear Peter Jennings rather than David Muir. But I like David Muir a lot too.
In the 1960’s and 70’s we embraced our differences, we have regressed comparatively speaking. Living in southeast Missouri has reinforced just how much the general public’s ability to be partisan has become so prominent, with religion being a very unspiritual experience.
7:02 - I love how Bill in the past called this what we see here as his "back yard", which to most of us is the size of a local town park. Just look at his "back yard". It is like a small town park. I would love to have that type of "back yard" in my home one day. Handy when you are a bachelor multi millionaire.
@@buelan.6525 Yep.... He earned everything he has. Worked long and hard..... many many years to get where he is today. He was first a comedian...and worked the venues and paid his dues....took his lumps and forged forward and found his niche in life. He still works hard with a passion and "yes" he makes a lot of money. He also donates money to the causes he believes in....that's what America is all about !!! (And choices and luck !)
I Never miss him. Bill Maher is the greatest. He says what so many of us are thinking. I don't agree with everything he says. Re: faith in any one religion- but I don't need to agree with him to on every subject. That's the beauty of the USA and freedom to express our own thoughts, opinions, and beliefs. I love that he features Republicans in the hot seat. It proves he can listen to everyone's side even if he doesn't agree with it.
One of the happiest experiences I had was at Radio City Music Hall when Jeopardy broadcast from there & I got to ask Alex a question. Ken Jennings is great, but I still mix Alex. 😢 RIP, Dearest Gameshow Icon ❤❤❤
Whoopi is so amazing!!! I am happy that she appreciates herself and her life. She has the confidence to say that she is who she is and if you don’t like it, well, that’s your problem. Frankly, I don’t know how anybody could not like or even love Whoopi. She IS singular, one of a kind ❤
Thank you for saying that about college! I’ve been saying this forever because I’m smart, and I didn’t go to a four yr college out of high school. I know so many bright intelligent people who couldn’t make the same money and more because they didn’t go to college. People who went to college given jobs with no experience. College is good for special education, medicine, law, science…. but…..
Working at the UN, I had responsiblity sheparding around a group of Angolan human rights activists attending a Security Council meeting. Then Whoopi showed up in the aille. I went over to her and asked if she would be willing to meet the Angolans. Yes, she said, where are they? So I went over to the Angolans, excited, and said Whoopi Goldberg wants to meet you! Looking at blank faces, I realized they had no idea who she was. But, BUT, when they met her, it was like a family homecoming! A credit to her and to the Angolans.
Maher is like, oh if you're not this, then you're absolutely that. .... obtusely ignoring the subtleties between. I can't suffer anything he says anymore.
Discovered Ken Jennings' real personality: he's insightful, smart AND funny! Too bad he reveres Trubeck so much; it might be a better, livelier show w/ Jennings hosting as himself. Either way, he's the best host!
Great interviews ..love Bill and Whoppie! @whoppie I've heard you are a cat lover. Please come and see us next door at the Montclair Township Animal Shelter! We'd love to meet you and send a fur kid home too!
Hello Mr Bill😊. I love your show it's awesome and I would love to meet you someday you're just a cool cat that smokes some greenery and I think that is just too cool 🌹
My 3 year old likes jeopardy. For me is very difficult to understand. I am from Brazil but I love to watch it any ways. I like him very much and I loved to watch Amy schneider! She was my favorite❤ the show brings families together like Family field!
I listened twice to make sure I got this right…bill says college not necessary and then finished with “people with college degrees just make a lot more money.” is that all there is, Bill? “Just a lot more money” wouldn’t be half bad for a lot of us…
Bill is correct. No matter what side of the isle you're on you can find a news network willing to tell you what you want to hear. I really would like to hear the whole story.
Bill, you're wrong about college/education. If you think that an educated society is a bad thing, then you don't value critical thinking. Then you value ignorance. Is college for everyone? No it's not. We need a diversified society, including blue collar jobs. I loved learning, and as a counselor I needed education/training in order to work with people needing to learn about themselves, and heal patterns that lead to dysfunction. So, don't tell me that college doesn't matter. That statement just isn't helpful.
Bill Maher was two years behind me in the same high school in New Jersey. I don't remember him being very vocal or public with speech or actions. In my yearbook, they photographed all all the classes---frosh through seniors. Frosh got the tiny pictures, sophomores in their gym classes, juniors standing in groups inthe lobby and seniors individually in large squares in the pose of our choice. So, Bill's photo is in a row of boys in shorts and t-shirts. I wish we could display photos in comments here. BTW, I guess there is hope for late (Boomer) bloomers.
I believe a great many of people knew what she meant when she stated what she had about being Jewish and German. They just wanted to make her words malicious, just like the justice system, were we're proven guilty even when innocent.
Great guests! I don’t always agree with Woopie, but she’s relatable. We’ve all stepped in 💩. The true character of a person becomes apparent when we can admit our mistakes and move on. ☮️
I enjoyed Ken Jennings the most out of these three interviews. He seems the most centered, unlike the other 2 who are seemingly still looking for a sense of peace and can be easily agitated.
Totally recommend Whoopi's book. (Audio book is Whoopi reading.) Enjoyed immensly the descriptive moments of happiness, laughter, times of thoughtful reflection, things learned and even sadness. Wonderful story, worth it all the way. Thank you Whoopi for sharing!
