That’s the first step! Try to find extracurriculars that you enjoy and remember to take action! And yes great suggestion, I will be making one once it gets closer to interview season :)

Wow! I'm so happy that I found your channel!! I'm a second year pre-dent in Canada and I was kinda comparing myself to others on how I wasnt competitive enough and that made me so sad. But this video proved me wrong about my worries! I'm the Vice-President of my pre-dental student society of my university . I'm appart of my school's Emergency Response Team, a note-taker for disabled students at my university, a tutor in English for children who are preparing for exam entrance or just having difficulties , I also volunteer in the ICU in a pediatric hospital and at McGill U summer dental clinic. All that in my first year!! My goals for my second year is to 1) do research and 2)create an non-profit organization. I'm still looking for topic idead for my non-profit. Any ideas lol?
Hi Grace! I know that most Canadian schools do look at grades more than American Schools.That being said, I dont think you should be worried because you are REALLY ahead of the game when it comes to extracurriculars! Wow that is a really tough question. My best advice would be to create a non profit for something you are passionate about and you would know that better than me! :)
No wonder you got accepted even with a low GPA (that you eventually remedied), you have an obviously great personality and this is an insane amount of extracurricular and volunteering activities. Congrats!
Hi Kayley! One summer I did research, took a nutritional science class and audited organic chemistry. The next summer I studied and took the DAT. And one summer I did not do much!

Do you think being a dental assistant, being in a pre dental club from my university, and basic volunteering and shadowing is weak I'm wondering what other activities I Should try and do.
Hi jack, I wanted to know how you were able to get shadowing opportunities. It’s much harder for me now during the pandemic, not a lot of clinics are accepting.
What I would do now is to first exhaust all of your personal resources first. Ask your dentist, your parents, friends, if they know anyone that they could ask. then just cast your net wide and call a bunch! Good luck :)
Do you think it matters "how many" different research projects that we take part in? Or do you think taking part in one research is okay too (in regards to applying to a research based dental school like UCSF)?
Hey man honestly doing more in one research project is going to trump you doing multiple. Dental schools and residencies even more so love seeing the constant dedication into one research project hopefully leading to a publication. Good luck! :)

Hey Gary! You could start playing instruments, or sports, or art, or jewelry, or finger boarding. There is a lot! I use bedhead, a round comb, and blow dryer after towel drying! :)
Hi Noe! One shadowing opportunity was a connection from my dad, another from my pre health advisor, and another from walking into dental offices and giving them my resume. I completed 360 shadowing hours total. I will make a video later on going more in detail about shadowing!
Great question Tiffany. I actually took all of these examples straight off the AADSAS application! Definitely include even the 1 day events, it is a positive!
Hi Jack I have a question in one of my universities applications I have a question " explain any other responsibilities you may have outside of being a student" so here they want to see extra curriculum activities, but this question is more about "responsibilities" do you think talking about the extra curriculum activities is actually talking about responsibilities outside being a student? do you think this will still apply. I have very similar activities like you but im not sure if I should answer this question about "responsibilities" and talk about the activities i have been doing while in college? i want to enter dental school and i am in the process of applying so what are your thoughts about this?
Hey that is a good video idea! It was mainly just searching up different professors to see if I am interested in their research and then LOTS of cold emails to see if one hits! I think I emailed around 30 different professors for the opportunity at UCI! :)
To be honest, what you do in high school will count for very little. But of course getting started is only a plus and you will gain EXPERIENCE and might catapult you into meaningful experiences later on. You never know who you will meet and what you will learn. For now just focus on improving your life from all aspects and dabble in some dentistry! :)

Hey! I did my undergraduate at Clark University. I am actually starting dental school in September so I can give you an answer in a few months from now haha. What is your GPA if you dont mind me asking? Remember that is isn't just your GPA, you can get in with a sub 3!

My ideal scenario would be to get into a Canadian dental school (bc of tuition) but it’s super competitive here so I would need a 3.85+ ): Do you also know about American dental schools that are friendly to Canadians but also aren’t wildly expensive? @@hamamathepotato8898 My GPA was only a 3.54 when I applied! Definelty apply to UBC because they just got an American dean of admission that is looks at applications more holistically. Check out my 30 dental schools I applied to video! Should help you decide where to apply. Pretty much the schools I applied to but check the tuition.Thank you!
