Keep in mind by “average” they mean “in the exact middle of all humanity’s aesthetic variances”, not “5/10” haha So “average” can here be defined as “not marked by any real disfigurement due to exaggerated or undersized measurements”
@@corpsefoot758 a really good analogy here is a population where everyone is 7 foot or 5 foot except for one guy who is 6 foot tall. in this idealized society, only one person is average and everyone else is the maximum possible distance from the average.
People watch tv and social media now constantly bombarding their brain with images of supermodels and photoshoped faces that perceived average is much higher then before
Not everyone that gets their picture taken upon detainment is an ex con . That implies conviction of a crime. I’m just saying , no need to call everyone in a mug shot a convict because it’s absolutely untrue
Not really. Big lips while not to the degree of the USA, women go for an aesthetic with plump lips. You can see it in the magazines and makeup products.

This is what my husband has trouble understanding lol I've always thought he's really hot but he'd always say he's just average looking and that I'm exaggerating. He doesn't get that him being average is what makes him really attractive to me. I'd rather see his pleasant, warm facial features everyday than a guy with a square jaw or prominent brow.
That's not what the video is saying though. Him saying averaged faces are attractive is another way of saying when they took faces of entire populations and averaged them to give one face for each population, they were above average/attractive. Those averaged faces are not average.
@@sarah37452 considering my husband's facial features look very similar to many other guys we see on a daily basis in our city, he looks like the average guy, which is why he made that comment about himself looking average lol a computer program doing an uncanny valley mock up of all of the faces doesn't mean anything when it comes to opinions of humans doing real life comparisons with real people. Even if him and every guy that looks like him are considered unattractive on a large scale, many like myself would still consider his features highly beautiful because we relate it with familiarity, warmth, kindness, reliability, etc. of the "average" look. Even if the person doesn't necessarily have those traits, those traits are attributed to them by default in first impressions. That being said, symmetry is basically the main thing that ultimately determines beauty. Everything else is subjective.
Meeks landed a modelling contract cos he has the typical model look w amazing bone structure. Has nothing to w the fact he's biracial... If he had a weak/recessed jaw for example, or if it wasn't symmetrical, then there's nothing his "biracial features" could've done for him to get that contract.
While i agree his bone sturcture is the reason he went viral and/or landed the contract, it's fair to admit that other features he has could have contributed to that too (albeit to a lesser degree), such as his eye colour and skin tone. No one saying they are the only reason he got picked, just that they're a positive factor
that's not necessarily true either considering who was yapping their mouths about him in the first place. Had he been just a good looking white guy with blue eyes he might not have gotten the initial traction to go viral like he did. Meeks doesn't simply stand out because he's good looking but because he's "exotic" having those mix of features.
@@DrAlchem01i do agree w your point about his eye colour. Not often you see a biracial person w light eyes. However, he also has a top tier eye area that fits right in the the typical model archetype. Had his eye area been weak, there's nothing his eye colour could've done to help... so it all comes back to just having that typical model look one way or another.
@@BobbyJ529he's not just good looking though, he's extremely good looking. Had it been a white/Hispanic/asian/latino etc person instead w extremely good looks, people's reactions would've been no diff.
he is visibly black(ish) with blue eyes, that’s what OP is talking about & in that way it’s a unique biracial feature bc it isn’t even common in biracials + blue eyes are rare in any person of african descent.
Normal people don’t understand mathematical average. They confuse it with the common usage meaning “mediocre”. In short your friends are stupid - get some new ones.
I always find you dudes HILARIOUS. Why in the world do you think anyone cares about YOUR preference? AnnE (since you can’t even be bothered to spell her name correctly) is one of the most beautiful women in existence. And we all know that IF she even glanced in your direction, you would be jizzing in your shorts. What we ALSO know, is that SHE would never even glance in your direction. So. Enjoy your fantasy world where you - Mr. Joe Schmo SpanksAlot - rejects AnnE Hathaway “Iconic Beauty.” 😅
Nope, culturally determined. In ancient Maya, the highest beauty standard was for a sloped forehead, prominent nose and receding chin. There is no ‘absolute’ beauty standard or ‘sexy’ standard, it has varied wildly with cultures and historical periods.
😂 Girl! That’s the f-ing POINT! Beauty standards are directly connected to those in power. Who has been in power since the Enlightenment? White Europeans. They’re most dominant in the U.S. now. But that’s it!
There is indeed a natural standard, but it can be subverted through heavy social conditioning. Most of the work we see on the beauty standards of ancient societies almost exclusively reflects what the elites thought was beautiful, as they were the only ones rich enough to comission and store art pieces, and the elites tend to have their own peculiar preferences.
@@caralho5237basically the same now- the rich and famous, or “elites”, decide the beauty standard, and slather it all over social media and every other form of media
Don’t we know this though? And honestly I wouldn’t say Angelina or Brad Pitts faces are average at all. Especially Angelina’s features are all pretty unique
When they say average, they mean their facial proportions are not too big and not too small. Like, say for Brad pits jawline, it's not too big and not too narrow, it's just right or (average).
depends on your age. Baldness is a sign of aging or bad genes so usually a minus but not as much as men think. The facial structure is way more important than hair.
These new young starlets are here and gone in months. They are the it girl of the moment and never heard from again within the year. They don't have the longevity that former stars did, in my opinion, because I can't tell them apart. They need a heck of a lot of talent to stay relevant in our current world of fast trends, because there is always another younger pretty thing waiting to take their place. Industry people told Keira Knightley she needed to fix her nose and teeth to make it. The director of Pride and Prejudice thought she was too pretty to play Elizabeth Bennett until he saw her in person. She is unique and, in some ways, unconventional. She is one of the prettiest women, to me. And her features (and talent) make her perfect for period dramas because people used to look real.
My ex is very similar to the young woman talking about her ex. He claimed I was so beautiful and blah blah blah and I don’t need surgery. But he only spoke to above average attractive women in friendships. He dumped me because I wasn’t attractive to him anymore plus I started noticing he was predatory to young girls in public. As soon as he split he’s back to following hundreds of accounts of teen girls who are 15 to 20 years his junior and they’re all heavily worked on for filtered. The double standard is so annoying. I’m now so heavily damaged emotionally from this, that I too, am considering plastic surgery because I’m 35, can’t find a decent partner and don’t even want to look at myself anymore. I’m repulsed by my own image. It doesn’t help either that my mom is significantly less attractive than me but always compared her looks to mine. Which was always insulting and even her close friends have said it’s mean because I’m much prettier
Focus more on the inside and find a way to love yourself first. It probably sounds corny and cliche af but it is so true. Trying to find someone else when you still don't feel good enough for yourself isn't going to help in finding you a good partner. When you really love and accept yourself for who you are you shine. And that is when you will meet someone. Try not to worry so much about your appearance and just know that the beauty standards of today are complete bullshit. Most of these girls today that fit this standard either didn't originally and got procedures and surgeries or they're using lots of makeup and filters. Yes there are naturally beautiful people, but I'm talking about a huge majority here. Fixing the outside without doing the work within will leave you feeling empty inside even if you attain these things. Not to mention the risks. Be kind to yourself. Love yourself and know that you Are Good Enough. ❤ I hope you find your peace and contentment and one day the love of your life.
@@wolf.eye._- the inside can’t change how unimpressive I look. Face it. There are tiers of beauty. A famous tiktoker even said on a video recently a man told her she’s a “natural beauty “ and she was like uhh I’ve had tens of thousands in surgery and extensions. I’m not getting any younger and men’s standards are so high, all I attract are weirdos.
@@Saranewberry0599A quote comes to mind that I can't put a name to right now, 'Pretty is not the tax you pay to deserve to exist in the world.' Forget inner/outer beauty, and aim for total detachment from beauty ideals. Get used to living only for yourself, and the people who actually matter to you.
I mean, if they look good they look good lol Everything here is on a case-by-case basis, averages are just to establish the baseline template of bone structure
Describing what you look like is not enough info. We should see what you look like in real time since facial pictures are 2d which looks different from 3d & 4d of the same person. Some people are photogenic but are average in person. Some people are ugly in pictures & videos but are gorgeous in actual. Being biracial doesn't give any added advantages because I've seen ugly biracial people as many as there are attractive ones.
Beauty/attractiveness is primarily about overall facial harmony - how your features work together to make an attractive face. The traits you've described do sound attractive in a vacuum, and large foreheads are often attractive (e.g. Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Zoe Saldana) but if you have a large forehead with a recessed jaw for example the overall look might not be as attractive as those examples. Truthfully we wouid need a photo to properly judge
Please don't base your attractiveness on what other people might think of you on the Internet and do not send them photos of yourself. Their average of beauty might not be yours, and vice versa. If you do not have any birth deformity that impacts your quality of life, you must look fine, no worries.
you didn't take into account Angelina's numerous correcting plastic surgeries from lips 👄 to eyes 👀..give them more of a cateye like feature. Hence it's unfair to use someone as an example who has be cut and recut .
It isn’t though because even if she had surgery it doesn’t make her unattractive and his points still stand regardless if the features are natural or not. Having plastic surgery doesn’t negate his argument, it’s not even relevant
@@chichilafemme6336 there's no doubt she had numerous corrections to her face. She had a V-Y mucosal advancement, which reshaped her upper lip. Do your own research and compare the photos before she acted in in the Tomb Rider. His argument doesn't stand in the face of Angelina as the nose was reshaped to make it look much smaller, in turn making lips stand out eve more so.
Can someone explain how can I find good looking people from other population who I have not seen or how young kids also know who is good looking and how our brains know which one is average face of a population ?
Well you dont. If you judge people from a foreign population that your not used to. Youll have a warped perspective. Its partly why eastern and western cultures have different beauty standards.
I usually think many African or Indian (or Asian) women stunningly beautiful and people from their area say nah, she's average and boring and when it comes to Slavic women many people are so in awe I'm like: hey, they are average, boring faces... I think we appreciate different and a bit exotic features more then what we see around. :)
@Izabela-ek5nh this is my point. Foreigners cant tell what is average in a foreign population. So Foreigners and locals will always have different perspectives.
That explains why some people when younger look average to other people but when they hit adolescence, they suddenly become aesthetically appealing. In the end, being average is not bad at all. Being raised by my grandma who was reared as a classic beauty, some of her friends even said it would be nice for me to look like her in front of me (Asian ladies just don't care what they say or who they say it in front of). My grandma just said 'My granddaughter looks good as well'. Growing up, I felt that I was nothing special, just an average-looking person. My features didn't change much in my teenage years and I realized people started viewing me differently. Now I am in my 30s, still having strangers think of me as a university student.
At the end of the day, attractive is attractive. The video states that non-average features can also be attractive if they land in a way that exaggerates a sexually selected characteristic and doesn't destroy harmony. Also, outliers exist, so maybe you are an outlier, but most likely you're just referring to attractive people with favorable non-average features
I’d be really interested in a video on whether/how biracial or mixed race people are more attractive than the average person of either of their backgrounds and the general population. Being mixed race, meeting other mixed raced and seeing mixed race people and celebrities, there is definitely truth to it despite the unique combinations everyone has and no one looking the same. It’s like the gene pools access new top genes and those get chosen. It would be interesting to see what the research says about it
As someone who is White/SEAsian who has many cousins / has seen many people of this mix growing up, based on my own thoughts I would say no. There are some really weird looking ones and really pretty ones. I just think people have this perception of mixed raced people being "more attractive" because pretty mixed race people generally stand out more than non mixed race pretty people due to their more unique set of features.
He's already made that video and I disagree with the theory. Here's why. The four main races are white, black, asian, and native American. If you're not either of those, you're mixture of races. "Latinos" for instance tend to be native American and European, but they're not considered more attractive because there's so many, so the uniqueness factor is gone. It's about being perceived as mixed rather than actually being mixed
I’ve always felt adverse to Anne Hathaways features, with the eyes, nose and lips all being pronounced, she looks cartoonish to me. Generally I find larger or more interesting features attractive, Anne’s are too much, almost abrasive imo. Think she’s a great actress though and seems super nice.

I have always found Anne Hathaway rather odd looking. I can appeciate her uniquenes for sure, interesting though if I got to know her as a friend, knowing me I'd think she was a raving beauty, as beauty comes from with in as well. It's certainly not just facial features that define our allure.
