34 year old ENFJ who is fully aware of his Fe (surprising for one to be conscious of his hero function). About being "cold," I can understand what Carl Jung meant after this video. My interpretation is that the Fe dominant is on autopilot, even after their own personal identity is lost in the tribe's values over time. At this point, the individual is burnt out from investing in the tribe's values and social norms, but continues to invest in that, and drifts from the original intent of why she/he cares about the particular value in the first place, or in this case, object. Thank you so much for this video!

I'm glad you touched on the aspects of over using Fe, how it turns into an almost robotic checklist and takes away from the warmth that a healthy Fe could bring to any situation. I just got off the phone talking to a friend about her ESFJ mother-in-law, and how I related to her with my ESFJ mother-in-law and how their over-doting can become unbearable over an extended period of time.

For me as INFJ, I feel like my Fe makes superficial shallow interactions awkward and that can definitely make us appear cold to other people when first meeting us. It is like I am a robot for the first 5 mins of meeting someone. The "where are you from?" "what do you do for work?" questions are painful. Not having any emotion or feeling behind the conversation leaves me feeling lost with something to identify with, so I will just default to the social protocol of the situation.

I got ENFJ but this is sometimes true for me aswell. When I have a conversion without any emotion behind it feels weird. It feels like I am not interested in the person, but it is sometimes just a default answering method.

I'm reading Jung in German, which is the original language. I find him rather difficult to understand because he doesn't give enough specific real world examples, so I keep repeating the chapters and learn something new each time I do so. Your explanation is very helpful and it's the same as my interpretation of the extraverted feeling type as explained Jung. Thank you!

Thank you for another great video! I can relate so much to the coldness you describe. I experienced this especially in my twenties, but also nowadays, when I am stressed or I overexert Fe, so to speak. I've come to embrace Fi a bit more during the last coupe of months, listening more to my values and feelings. It's clumsy, of course, but it's worth developing it a bit.

Very good video again. It strengthened my analysis about Fe. I really love the way you analyse and explain the things that Jung said after you read them. Otherwise It would be too difficult for me to understand anything here. Regarding Fe: My girlfriend is Fe Dom and it doesn't feel like she has the interest of others in mind with her Fe. It's more like you said. Te cares about being logically applicable for all society (in all situations) and Fe cares about values of the society. If someone is behaving different from those values, Fe can be very mean too. They just don't usually discus the logic behind it, since it is not logic based. Logic based argumentation is valued a lot in society though, so Fe usually values this too. Even though Fe doms could agree on an outcome of a logical conclusion of a logical discussion, their decisions however are still made value-based. I always thought my whole life that logical based argumentation and decision-making were the only valid methods. This is where Jung's cognitive functions were the most eye opening for me. I understood by reading into it, that other people are not "not smart enough" to be logical. They just value other variables more than the pure logic. And for me their decisions and behavior now seemed absolutely valid for the first time in life. And even though I'm an Ni Te dom, I can't see any reason why my logical type of thinking would be any better or worse than the value based type. It all depends on preferences. Especially in context of a socially structured environment, Fe's values usually beats Te's logic in point of effectiveness of it's wanted outcome.

Fe always wins (for better or worse). And it can bring unity and/or division. If you think of any division currently in the world, it can all come down to the Fe values of what *appears* to be the majority of people (but may not be).
@MichaWeidenfeld
@MichaWeidenfeld 3 года назад
@@lishayost44 You're right. That's why i don't like the world. It's not logic and often times very unfair just because you are a minority and don't fit in. The Fe types have the advantage that they connect more easy, since it's kind of the motivation behind the function. So they are a unity whereas Thinkers or Fi Users usually are not as agreeable and thus, less groups form. Smaller statistical probability of creating a group = less power.

@Indigo Rodent In a way, yes, but covertly, Fe people are the ones most likely to conform to the Te structure that's been laid out. Without all those Fe people standing behind the Te people, the Te plan wouldn't work. This is just my perspective though.

INFJs- Stop overusing Ti, Fe is a feeling, not a checklist. We are the most feeling type of the thinkers… or the most thinking type of feelers… regardless, Fe is all about the feelings of those in your environment, quit blocking it. Unless you’re very young, this is your second strongest function.

I can see where the "not authentic to self" part comes into play. But if brain functions are looked at as tools, and you are using the tool to accomplish something good, why not? My natural tendency as an INTJ is "default relaxed not-smiling face". But if this really scares others, it does not seem advantageous to keep doing it because it doesn't work, and that's not what I want. I can speak uncomfortable truth with a smile and it is received better than if I spoke it in a negative or frowning way.

At first, I think that it just depends on what you are comfortable with(different people are going to have different limits to how much they are comfortable with losing themselves momentarily, for the sake of the group), but eventually(no matter who you are), constantly reconstructing yourself to fit the group takes a turn for the worst. You just become a puddle with no opinions or values(which tends to make people see you as fake), and tend to slip into abusive relationships, and it becomes exhausting. Life isn't worth living, at that point. A little chameleon behavior(conscious word choice, conscious behavior choices, leaving information out as to not start things, ect) is fine. All humans do it. I think that INFJinxed was just saying that with Fe users, it can get out of hand(relatively easy) if not controlled. I know that you probably experience the opposite problem as an INTJ, so this might seem odd to you, but as an auxiliary Fe user, I can say from personal experience, that it is really easy(and all too common) for us to totally lose ourselves in favor of the group. So, whereas you might have to manually check in with your Fe when interacting, we have to do that with our Fi. I hope that I explained that well enough!
@anneh851
@anneh851 2 года назад
@@yesthatisababytoucan.youre6983 Thanks. It seems more to me like I'm just humoring the emotional ones in the group. I can also see where it looks fake. Since Fe isn't one of my top, always-used functions, I keep in mind "this is just a tool to navigate something I don't understand" and then I don't feel lost in the group, or that my feelings are being taken over by the group's collective feelings. It's very easy to be separate from the others while in the room with them, smiling and laughing. I just consider functions as if they were tools like a hedge trimmer or chainsaw; and it really doesn't matter if I use the tool right-handed or left-handed (analogy). I've even told people I understand logic but I don't understand feelings well; it's truthful and it tells them any confusion they feel is not their fault. Have a great weekend!

So just one more comment on your last statement about there being many different systems to understand the same functions through... I have a very hard time believing that all of these systems can be accurate. It's not possible to overlap psychological theories, because there is no theoretical way to understand how one theory would impact another. What are your thoughts on that?

FJ types have the least problem to undestand not only emotional evaluation of other people but also own emotional relation to anything. Do not loose themselves in relations - they control the degree of emotional influence of other people and where exist a match or a conflict. Emotions is their strong and good conscious function - adult function. The problem to understand something in yourself relates to weak functions which are lesser conscious. Besides social (objective) and personal (subjective) emotional evaluations, the difference of Fe and Fi is also that Fi types have higher attention to what other people like or do not like as persons, hence Fi types prefer be liked and emotionally comfortable for concrete people. While Fe types have more attention to general emotional state of other people as are they happy or sad, energized or suppressed - so when they see someone sad they may try to say something funny to improve his state, where Fi type would show a compassion and a sympathy to fix that. Where FJ types loose themselves is thoughts - they have higher conformism to what other people think (T), - this is their weak and most childish region. Weak regions have low criticism and where people have bad contact with own inner contents.

I see what you mean. I think, from what we have previously discussed, that you are also pointing out the Socionics perspective, where IXFJs have Fi and IXFPs have Fe. When I refer to FJs in this video, I refer to Fe types as described in the MBTI theory.
