Here' s how to clean up old hand, dried up paint in your brushes. Extreme methods! Works though. Thanks for watching and please subscribe. / @onedudeonehammer
@@onedudeonehammer Got one brush that doesn't need cleaning, much cleaning anyway. The brush I use for the leather antique I made out of the leavings of an empty can of roofing tar. Scrape some tar out of the "empty can". Put it in a small empty die bottle. Fill the bottle with vegetable oil. Shake well. Shake well every time you use this type of dye. The color of the dye I made is like a light tan. Like the color of dirt in a desert. I liked it. I don't know if different types of tar give different colors. Also i drained the oil out of the bottle and put it in another dye bottle. It suspended a measure of tar. I use it for light stain. Also the dissolved tar left in the drained bottle is very good antique for leather the way it is. In my opinion. There is no smell of tar once the dye and antique dry. The only smell left is the leather smell.
Well that's one I never thought about! LOL. I usually use ond paint brush handle's to make other tool handles. Like an old credit card or piece of sheet metal for glue spreaders. Stuff like that. What kinda anvil do you have? Mine is a Columbian about 125 years old. I never seen an anvil with a hole like yours has, any idea how that happened. Back when I got my anvil it was only a hundred bucks. Now they are crazy expensive. Also the post vice. I will probably give mine to one of the guys or gals in our blacksmithing club when I'm gone. Thanks for the video, please keep them coming. When an old man like me can learn something new that's saying something. Sure wish you lived closer
Thanks Will! The anvil is just some cheap anvil I bought at a flea market years ago. $55 The hole is a flaw in the casting. I sold my post vice when we downsized to our smaller house. I lost a lot of good stuff. Just no where to keep it. Have s great weekend!!
You know? I just throw brushes like these away because it's America and that is what we do in a Capitalist Society. But this was helpful to get some extra life out of them. Much Thanks!
@@onedudeonehammer I wasn't accusing you of anything or saying you were doing anything wrong I was just reminding that person that it's fed up so it is a good method but it's not as fast as it looked in the video
