Guys... this was fkn great!!! Now to let you all know an interesting little fact ... I served in the US Navy with VF-103 (F-14A+ and B aircraft) onboard the carrier USS Saratoga during Desert Storm. We went through a hurricane and that ship was pitching and rolling just like your last 2 rounds. You couldn't walk a straight line and ran and damn near crawled too. No aircraft would fly in that kind of weather but damn this was entertaining!! Thank for the memories and laughes!!!
I'm not really sure how amusing this would be, but I've been thinking it might be fun to see a comp where you have two carriers abeam and two teams of more than 6-8 or so starting 10-20 NM out. The goal would be to all get on deck before the other team does. Perhaps best of 3. Sounds simple, but withe the pressure on, I'd imagine something would not go to plan for someone :D
Being a person who loves piloting fighter jets, airliners and helicopters, I wish I could join a group such as yourselves, to finally put myself to test, and to be a part of a friendly, happy and in all honesty a team that doesn't get butt hurt about fails. Because the fails are funny as haha.

It's funny because they're shit at flying. They do not ever use rudder when they roll and the nose of the aircraft is dancing all around. Not to mention that they're throwing out aviation terms without knowing what they actually mean.

In today's short-attention-span world, I can't believe I just watched a 1:53:47 video..... and was completely engaged the entire way. I just got started with DCS, but someday.... someday I'll join the Grim Reapers and start kicking some ass. (Except for Whistler and SkillGannon. Those guys!!!!) Keep up the good work, guys.
As a rule of thumb, you always want to shoot for the number 3 wire. You guys do landing pretty nicely and the bolter pattern as close to what real Carrier pilots do minus the fact the some almost hit the island but thumbs up from a former squadron guy.

These guys suck at flying. To the untrained eye, maybe they don't look to bad. But as someone who has 1,400 real flight hours, these guys are terrible. That's what makes it so comical to watch. That and them throwing out random aviation terms without knowing what they truly mean.
The velocity vector is there it's just blown off the viewable area of the windscreen in strong crosswinds. There's a little arrow on the right side of the HUD to indicate "hey Cap, the TVV is way over there somewhere".
The perfect mix of serious and casual group play. Both teamwork and coordination but also jokes and banter makes even as a viewer feel like you are part of the lively community.
Loved seeing f14s become Harriers in that crosswind. Such an awesome simulation. Lol no one would be crazy enough IRL but just that possibility of that to happen is just cool lol.

When I was playing with MIcrosoft Flight-Simulator 98, I got bored of landing the Cessna on the carrier. So I did it FROM THE FRONT. Twice. With a tail-wind, of course. Another fun thing to do was flying THROUGH the hangar by the rearmost doors. Next challenge would be to land on the hangar, but I don't think it could be done. Lotsa fun I had then. :-)
i landed the lear on the carrier, but i'm sure something was a bit off in the game physics as hard as i had to slam it into the deck to get it to stick.
I thought this would end with tomcats on full burner and wings swept back fully just to reach the carrier :P Alternative sudden death mode idea: both start at the same time and the first to land wins, and if they crash the other one wins.
To be fair (and honest), setting a "left crosswind to the deck" isn't realistic for carrier ops as the Captain always "turns the carrier into the wind" for Launch and Recovery operations. Therefore, there would always be a slight "wind from the right" for Recovery Ops. For future reference, if you want to create realistic difficulties, only adjust wave height/frequency, gusty winds and/or turbulence along with decreasing cloud ceilings and/or visibilities.
I guess that when you return from a mission you need to land on the carrier anyways, so a bunch of pilots had to land on a carrier with these conditions. That's crazy, man
