It works the other way round too though. With an OCD parent or someone who doesn’t let you keep anything as a child, you may grow up to be a hoarder or have some hoarding tendencies to make up for what you couldn’t have as a child.

I think mental illness is an internal selfish disease in and of itself. Many people with depression OCD and what not get help because they don't want to continue to hurt their loved ones. I understand what you're saying

@@CC12398 Totally agree with all of that comment. It’s really tough when people don’t get help and I won’t even visit my parents house anymore because now it’s everything I said plus a lot of dirty dishes and trash laying around. They’ve just gotten to the point where they don’t care

@@CaptchaNeon yeah I definitely would meet them somewhere outside of the house. The thing that would really stick with me as a child if my parents were like that is that they didn't give a s***. Kids don't care if it's mental. Even if they could understand that it's going to shape you as a person. Deep down as an adult I will go around feeling like no matter how much someone told me they wanted me or cared about me I would never believe them. Sorry I'm not being encouraging. Personally my mom was a super mom growing up. My dad, you could count on. He was a super preparer. But even us as adults have our little s*** from childhood. Every family has some amount of dysfunction, there is no instruction manual. That said my heart goes out to you and you really put things into perspective for me. You sound like a person with strong character who is able to bounce back really well :-)

How is that any more wasteful than the people who buy those disposable toilet wand things? It's all the same. Toaster ovens are notoriously hard to clean. She didn't say she *never* cleans it, but that when it gets to the point she can't clean it, she throws it away. A LOT of people do that, they just don't think about it. I'll ask you: HOW do you disinfect a toaster oven. Just tell me because I have not found a way. And even with oven cleaner, they are impossible to clean very well. They're cheap, you can get one for twenty bucks. That's the price of a few cans of oven cleaner.

I really wish they would make more shows. I’ve seen every OCD Cleaner, including the season about British Estate houses. I’ve watched Kim & Aggie on How Clean is Your House. Wont get anymore out of those 2 (there was a “falling out). Even Kim’s Canadian show, Kim’s rude Awakening. The American Hoarders show isn’t nearly as fun. I would be happy with more OCD Cleaners.

Send her your address, she can forward the dirty one to you. :) You'll both be happy. How about doing something about all of the disposable diapers in land fills? They are non recyclable. Think about how many MILLIONS there are every year, wrapped in plastic.

@Dani Fairyadin You cannot clean a toaster oven. It's impossible. You can't clean a toaster either. You can shake them out, vacuum them, wipe them out, but they will never be clean. They are one of the main areas where roaches lay their eggs to hatch.

They wash everything in u.s. charity shops. ..high heat, hot water...to kill bugs

Just send it to the recycling land fill and start fresh. All societies are wasteful EASTERN societies are the cause of almost all plastic pollution, particularly in the oceans. they do not abide by international agreements.

There's a glut of stuff out there. Charities today only accept clean and sealed stuff, otherwise it would be just hoarders looking to transfer their junk.

If you want to change the world, start with DISPOSABLE DIAPERS, one of the largest NON RECYCLEABLE items in land fills. These people are trying to change lives.

No. It's so spotless already that is whyit is an easy clean. All surfaces are already clear, there is no clutter, there's nothing to scrub because she cleans daily.

Toaster ovens are notoriously difficult to clean. I worked at a place where we threw the one in the workroom away every 3-4 months and bought a new one. You cannot get them clean, they harbor bugs, and they only cost $20, not much more than a couple of cans of easy off.
