Needed to do some Extreme Banana Plant Separation for multiple Dwarf Cavendish Banana suckers. Very tight and difficult separations to make, but I got close up and personal. Hope you enjoy.

This is an extreme separation. I just separated my banana plants and this is no joke. I actually broke one shovel. 😮😮

I've found that its ok if the pup doesn't have any roots when you remove it as long as it has a nice corm to grow new roots. It seems to me that many or most of the existing long roots get damaged and rot black anyway when I recieve banana pups in the mail. I recieved a 2ft tall Dwarf Brazilian pup with a very large corm but no roots at all, and it grew new roots in a couple weeks.

that is correct, you could just cut / trim all the roots off. when shipping most trim them all. when just potting or transplanting, it is best to leave some root on, especially for the larger size plants. the more root the more nutrient's and water that plant will have. if you looked closely I only left the nice roots on the corm. Thanks for your input.

I'm jealous your Dwarf Cavendish have buds! Mine have none yet, very close but not yet. You reminded me to go trim off some bottom leaves at sunset.

there seems to be a link with , if propagation is by water suckers only , over number of generations each new clump started becomes more dwarf , and with propagation by sword sucker only over number of generations each new clump started becomes taller . ( so two different clumps with the same genetics , express there genes differently as epigenetically they have different genes switched on and off )

that's interesting, first time I heard that. thanks for you knowledgeable insight. :-)

if you lowered the ground underneath the plants so it becomes lower than the ground or at least on the same level you wouldn’t have the ants issue because when the soil surface beside the plants is higher than the ground level it will be an invitation to the ants to come because it works as a home for them, allah knows best Thanks

How many plants do you recommend to keep on each mother plant for fastest fruit production? 3?

What’s up bro I love your banana plant!! Quick question I’m a new plant dad and I’m seeing how dynamic it is to actually have plants especially tropical ones when it comes to grow lights, humidifiers, etc and wanted to ask about electricity cost and how to keep them down because I can already tell this will take a toll on that electricity bill and wanted to see if you just have to bite the bullet or is there anyway to keep cost down. Thanks!!

If you give your chickens too many Banana leaves to eat, will their eggs start tasting like Bananas?
