With our new kitchen design and floor plan in place we are ready to demo the old kitchen, have a structural engineer out to devise a plan to make two small spaces into one big one and figure out how to give us the highest ceilings possible all while crossing our fingers that we don’t run into any hiccups that will delay renovations.

Those contractors are so amazing. Love how they talk and educate on the way, don’t get irritated by asking or telling your viewpoint, and clean everything before leaving. Hat off to such amazing professionals.

This reno is going to be amaze balls....I totally agree with you about your contractor , he is fantastic ( and he apparently has no issues working with a woman , he doesn't talk down to you , he explains what he's doing and listens to you when you talk to him ) , it's rare these days to find that good of a contractor.....and these guys are so clean , at the end of each day , everything is so tidy.....I'm so happy for you and Romeo.....it's going to be so beautiful....can't wait to see the rest....today it's Easter , so HAPPY EASTER

Yes, it’s nice to see him speaking to you with the respect you deserve. You know a lot and you can learn even more because you have the skills to learn too and he doesn’t talk to you like go make some cookies honey us men got this….. nope you help him do his job better and he lets you help him therefore he can do his job better for you. He acknowledges that you are part of the team and this is your home and you may be quite prayers but your brain still works you can still make decisions and comprehend what they’re doing, just because you are pregnant. Don’t be surprised if you talk backwards sometimes lol 😜🤣🤣🤣.

The choreography of those four builders manoeuvring those beams was a joy to watch! (I did worry for the guy at the back by the pool though 😱). Their progress is so rapid, amazing work. Also, shout out for the spring-day birdsong at the start of each day - a brilliant touch.

You have no idea the under qualified, unethical and just plain lazy people there are in the building world. I can't even express the amount of respect and admiration I have for builders and their expertise. I have a finished university education (in a field that also requires some practical work, but building/construction.. I can't even imagine!) and one of my biggest pet peeves is university students calling people in a difficult trade like this "uneducated". Builders have more education and skill in their little finger than most uni students will ever have!

It looks like framing for long glass non opening windows that were prevalent in mid century designed houses. Sometimes they were made with glass bricks.

Watching this episode of the reno was exciting and amazing. I'm so glad you were able to get Drew's contractor and his crew. Every step of the way seemed so effortless and seamless. I think having gone through what you did with the cottage has given you the confidence to really speak up for what you want. She doesn't have to speak up to them because it's a situation of mutual respect. She respects their expertise and accepts design changes that are necessary and they respect her design and try to create her vision as closely as possible. I'm sure they are extremly happy about building for someone who actually understands what is going on instead of someone who thinks they know better and cause problems because they want something that just can't be done safely or is just bad design.

Wow, just wow! There is so much happening & it’s so exciting!! You really did find the best contractor for the job. I did a bathroom remodel 2 years ago & it took the contractor I hired over 3-1/2 months to complete & there were no structural changes. It was a nightmare! I had to call & hassle him constantly just to get him to show up. I am so glad you aren’t having to deal with what I did!! xo

OK this is my favorite building team. Drew introduced them to you after he worked his magic with them and now you are also working your magic with the team. By the way I could listen to him all day lol. I am excited to see the next phase of the kitchen and also the true design of the new French doors. I hope your mom comes up during this project (yes I know she is in the middle of her own) so we can see you two shop for granite and other piece and Romeo's input as well. @@XOMaCennaI love everything but the brown cabinets. Being raised in 70’s with brown, dark furniture and then again having the trend come back in 90’s, now when I see them I kind of get shudder. Sorry, this is coming from someone who painted her cabinets already 3 times in last 12 years. On the other hand, brown is a good color for little sticky hands.Also, following you for last few years, I’m pretty sure you’ll paint them in different color in a few years 😏

I’m very excited watching the progress of your kitchen renovation. You have excellent design skills and I know it will be beautiful. It’s funny how when you bought this house I thought it was big enough for you. But as your family grows it seems to be shrinking. A few months ago I thought, well you can always build up above the kitchen if you need more space but not anymore after all this beautiful work has gone into your kitchen masterpiece. I’m wondering if a little casita will fit up in your hidden garden space. 🤔 That would be a totally cool Macenna DIY. 😊

I love watching these huge changes to your home! I already can image baby boy crawling around in there while you two are cooking or baking. The new space will be so beautiful I'm sure.
