Welcome to Sailing NV, we’re a family sailing around the world on our Open 66.
In this episode we find ourselves on the shores of Pentecost, an island in Vanuatu, home to a tradition that surpasses the boundaries of what we imagined could be humanly possible. Known as land diving, this extraordinary ritual involves men plunging off 20-meter wooden towers with only 2 tree vines wrapped around their ankles to break their fall.
One could argue that this is the spiritual birthplace of the extreme sport we now call bungee jumping.
This daring leap of faith not only showcases the profound connection between the people, their land, heritage, and beliefs but also offers a mesmerizing glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of these indigenous people. The towering structures, rhythmic beats, vibrant colors, and the entrancing leaps into the unknown create an experience that far exceeds anything we could have imagined.

Caio! We're a sailing family pursuing an unconventional dream of converting an ex Vendée Globe Open 66 race boat into a fast family cruiser. We're an English (Jo) & Italian (Timo) couple with countless ocean miles under our belts plus our son Nemo & furry son Solo.
Our sailboat NV was originally designed, built & raced by famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa. He competed in her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), finishing 5th, becoming the first non-frenchman to finish.
We're giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser. After a 2 year refit in Fiji we're now continuing our circumnavigation and refit on the water!
