Severe Winter Snow Storm in Toronto Blizzard Create Mess - Cars Stuck in Snow and Blocked Highways. Winter Snow Storm in Toronto Canada. The City of Toronto has declared what it calls a "major snowstorm condition" to ensure its crews can remove the snow on city streets left by a winter storm on Monday. Downtown Toronto had received 36 cm of snow by 2 p.m. on Monday, according to a summary from the Ontario Storm Prediction Centre. Ottawa, meanwhile, received 45 centimetres of snow. It was biggest winter snow storm in few years.

They were just shoveling to a few metres until less congested lane they can get to. I had close calls on this day, but I really appreciated my new Mazda C30. It did its job. If I had my old car - Kia Rio - as I did six weeks prior, oh, Lord have mercy.

I immigrated to Canada for 4 years in the 1970s after serving during that Vietnam thing. Worked 3 winters in the bush doing seismic (oil exploration) work in far north Saskatchewan and Alberta. Really a beautiful country Canada is with a LOT of wide open country. But you've got to be tough enough to handle those winters. Experienced more than a few "white-outs". Met some good folks up north there..

I was 18 when my parents decided to immigrate to Toronto, Canada in 1990. I have seen a few really bad winters in the last 32 years but I gotta be honest it is not as bad as some folks think. Yes there are days where you cannot leave your house but then we always have clear blue skies and sunny days in winter. I love the Winter season and cannot imagine living anywhere else in the world. Canada is truly the best country in world.

I'm glad I stayed home. Some cars and trucks on 401 were stuck for over 8 hours. Probably still there. TTC said 540 buses were stuck in the snow. Lots couldn't make it up hills. So, boys and girls. What have we learned? Hmmm? 1. Stay home if you can 2. Put damn f...king snow tires on your car 3. Put a shovel in the trunk 4. Stay home even if you can't. Because you're not going anywhere anyways, you're going to be stuck on a road or highway for HOURS!

Toronto is so used to mild winters and little snow, paved flat roads with everything conveniently located they are easily led into false dependent reality. As soon as I left I quickly moved into prepping for everything and stayed with that perspective. Down side is that I have to take my garbage to the dump pick up mail at post office. Upside is going to the dump and PO catching up with neighbors and local news. Whole other reality of more self responsibility.

When I grew up in Nova Scotia my dad always carried four small sections of plywood, big bag of gravel like kitty litter ( we didn't have a cat) chains and a tow rope. The only time we got stuck was an Xmas Eve during a windy blizzard. The engine kept cutting out from the wind . Once we turned around and the wind was pushing us we made it back to my parents' friends place. I would imagine the snowplow drivers are short staffed due to Covid / Omicron. Why so tall? Thyroid issue? The Netherlands has the tallest people in the world. If you could go to school there , you wouldn't have to help anyone. Plus , I believe they give you one free pair of snow shoes once you pay your tuition fees. Wish I was tall though tbh because they always put the food food on the higher shelves ( which I have to ask a tall person like yourself to reach for me ) and I appreciate that..But , they always seem to put the pet food on the middle shelves ( which I can reach) and I don't have a pet. We had a Great Dane when I was younger I was able to ride him like a horse until I was about 17 when he died . Well I hope you get rid of the snow soon so it's easy for you to walk in ..👌🤜🤛

Excellent video. I love seeing people who have slicks on there cars trying to drive through snow. Oh and 4 inches of ground clearance thinking they are going to plow through 24 inches of snow, just makes you shake your head.👍🍻

That's true. These people are usually the ones that give you a dirty look as your driving by in a 4x4. Even if you stop to help pull them out, they are more than likely to be stuck in the next minute.

Winter tires, full tank of gas, traction control off , no speeding and no excessive braking. Keep these in mind for the next blizzard and you’d be good.

Agreed, and the right type of automobile. If the snow is over your front bumper, chances are your not getting very far.

@@RH50M I’ve gotten out of deep snow back when I had my civic and even pulled a few cars & trucks out of ditch simply by having the right tires for the season and not flooring it like I’m on a drag strip. Unfortunately our driving schools don’t teach the important stuff such as how to drive in bad weather conditions.

In BC, winter tires are mandatory. You’d think they’d be everywhere.

I'm in Missouri USA; be careful shoveling. Some winters ago, I had a strong neighbor who went outside to shovel his parking area. I could see him from my patio door. After awhile of shoveling, he opened his car door and sat in the driver's seat. He never got up. Slumped a bit, and died right there.

Thank you for this video. So many vehicles stuck on the roads but you drive with no problem. How is that? Why can't people stay at home when it gets this bad?
@lvfreeAdventures
@lvfreeAdventures 2 года назад
I tend to think that people sometime overestimate what their vehicles can do. I always encourage people to learn about car that you buy and how car drives in different weather conditions. Unfortunately, driving school don't teach that

Nice work on your part Lvfree. It would have been preferred to explain or detail your locations/routes in your video as they happened during the blizzard. It was a monumental snowstorm for the GTA nonetheless.
