Blade hand: " How the hell am I supposed to cut a 0.5:1 at the top of that 4:1?"
Me: "You just hold this here camera and watch you might just learn somethin."
Showing my blade operator how to cut steep slopes we are cutting sub-grade for the channel that the rip rap sits in on the slope there is a 0.5:1 at the top for 2.5 ft then a 4:1 for 80-110 ft (depending on the floor elevation) then a 10ft flat bench and 4:1 for 12- 24 ft down to the floor ( again depending on the floor elev.)

Never said it was difficult, just showing a guy how to do it he's still pretty new to graders. Let's see them I always enjoy a good grader video!

I used to push snow in a grader, graded roads ect. in Canada but never could cut to stakes. Now I fly a Helicopter deep in the amazon jungle and I can tell you that what you are doing is a lot harder than flying a Helicopter...nice work.

I cut the slope to grade in one pass I didn't cut more off because its counter productive to undercut shit and have to rebuild it. Experienced operators don't do shit twice they cut it right the first time.

Why not?
@PKKD1
@PKKD1 11 лет назад
Not from on top , from the level you are working on . If it is near vertical you are able to position your machine close in to the toe of the wall anyway . At 4.28 you can see how inacurate the method is because of the big bulge inward on the batter just behind the machine. Also excess material is falling under your right rear wheels causing another problem for the machine to react to. Done lots of this type of work myself. One batter I did was 2200 mt long 40 mt high on a horizontal curve.

you can't get the blade up that steep with the ass end on top and the back end would be running on about a 1:1 also I generally like to keep all 4 of my back tires on the ground as much as possible no sense in layin over a perfectly good grader...

I am curious about why the acrobatics. I can see the purpose but in this case the inside corner wasn't so sharp that the blade wouldn't have reached with all wheels on the same level without articulation. Saved the equipment from the prolonged stress and frame twist. Whatever happened to drive it as if you bought it? Awful lot of videos of folks bragging about machines then they abuse the shit out of em and complain when they break down. ROPS are supposed to work also, Yet rolling it on the roof isn't part of the pre day circle check.

@big04cummins
@big04cummins 11 лет назад
Huh? That made absolutely no sense at all. How are you supposed to cut that nearly vertical slope from on top of the road I've never seen a grader that would allow the moldboard to be swung where it would need to go to achieve what you are saying and I've run almost every brand out there. Also I'm not sure if you can see the gps masts or not but they tend to limit the range of movement on the moldboard.

With the age of GPS, it has really solidified graders as supreme snow plows. Do you know how much snow you can plow with a 6 wheel drive 772D? Another grader video of it doing work that would never ever be required in the real world. Send it up here to us in Canada we'll make it work pushing snow!
@breendon2354
@breendon2354 5 лет назад
slope grading dumb ass! "required in the real world" I live in canada and use the grader every day for multiple different tasks, I take it all your capable of doing is plowing snow
@kristenstephens6689

That would have been a lot easier to do with slope boards on that dozer.
@andrea198132
@andrea198132 9 лет назад
a grader can do those jobs always better than a dozer, because the grader blade is more moveable than a slope board :)

@PKKD1
@PKKD1 11 лет назад
The job could be done more efficient keeping all wheels on the flat, articulate to the right . This is just an example of an inexperienced operator. Blade should have more angle forward at the top , all you are doing is pushing the material off the batter , not cutting it.
