Big knobs. Tough casing. Formidable width. These Shwalbe G-One Ultrabite 50mm 700c tires pack a mean punch when you are riding deep on unmaintained and rough gravel roads. The aggressive tread pattern and build quality on these is top notch and a force to be reckoned with. In this video, I mount these bad-boys and take them for a few test rides while looking for any positive or negative qualities on different types of gravel, dirt and pavement roads. Spoiler alert. They are pretty rad. Please let me know if you have any questions about these in the comment below. - Cyclist Pete

Nice review. I just got some of these tires and it was the easiest tubeless set-up I have ever done. 2 shots with the blaster pump and they pinged into place nicely. I guess it all depends on the tire/rim combo. You are right about these being heavy though!

I have the 40c (38c on the label) version. I ride 60% road and 40% trails including easy MTB trails with several tree roots. I ride next to railroad tracks, mud, and everything between. in the city, I ride through glass, metal trash, and whatever else is on the road. Yes, these tires are not the lightest or the fastest, but they will not die! I have them mounted to a Surly Straggler with carbon Easton wheels. Survival is the name of the game for these tires.

Do you think the Straggler will take the 700 x 45c versions? I think the front fork definitely will but the rear? Maybe I would have to pull my rear wheel right back? How much clearance do you have at the rear with the frame with your 40c tyres?

I was one of the first fellas buying a "gravel" bike here in Spain, a '17 Focus Paralane. I had no room for flat bar neither I wanted to renounce riding fire roads. Despite geometry being pretty well thought, tire clearance was 35c... That's why I sold it. It seems manufacturers are going wider for '22. With Schwalbe, for good protection you know you have to go to the upper price ranges. Nice content.

Do you think these are bettter suited for offroad and singletrack than the vittoria mezcals?

Think I'm going to try an Ultrabite on the front and a Bite on the rear - should improve rolling resistance on the road but still give the grip up front where it's most important. Might sacrifice a bit of climbing ability on the loose climbs though.

Hello i have the same bike too! But he has stock complete. I wont to instal 29 wheels 2.0 I have 2 questions 1. What are the gaps on the 50 mm wheels in front and behind? 2. What kind of vilset do you have in 700c?

The schwalbe website says they are 28 and not 29ers? Are they smaller in diameter? Thanks!

@cyclistpete2090 Год назад
Yeah, I noticed that also. But these are 700/29er size. My bike shop said sometimes they are called 28

Beautiful. How do they roll on tarmac despite the tread?
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 Год назад
They aren’t great on the tarmac. But not terrible either. A bit slower and a little noisier compared to other tires with tread less aggressive in the center.

@@cyclistpete2090 Grand. Thank you! What about the TPi (or EPI) 67 right? Maybe for mixed use better the one Bite then 🧐

Are these good for up hill climbing?
@cyclistpete2090
@cyclistpete2090 9 дней назад
hey, yeah they are good for climbing. the aggressive tread helps a lot to prevent tire slippage on loose and rough gravel, especially on steep sections. however, they would be a little better if they were a just a little bit lighter. extra weight can add up on long days of climbing, but these aren't too bad
