You are one of the best groomers ive seen. Yes the dog was freaking out but he is extremely anxious. If you gave up he will never learn. You were brave to do this and clearly its better for the dog not to be sedated. Great job.❤❤❤❤

I agree with one of the comments that you should stop periodically to give him some water and a rest period when he is being good and calm . Also, It would be a good idea to tell him that he's a good boy when he IS BEING GOOD . That way, he learns positive reinforcement with good behavior. In other words, if he's good , stop and give him some water and maybe a treat or a few pieces of dog food and PRAISE HIM FOR BEING GOOD and try to ignore him when he's not being good. You don't have to go overboard with the praise , a simple, "good boy " with a pat on his head or belly will do. Overall, you did a WONDERFUL job with him and I respect the way that you handled him - even if he was a bit difficult for you to control. Also, thanks to your helper for doing a GREAT job of calming him down and controlling him .

@@ruraldoggrooming6662 as much as you want to give the dog the perfect groom, you must take into consideration the needs of the dog. I have seen other groomers that don't do too much the first few times, as the dog is not familiar with the process. You need to tell the client that too, just like they tell their client. They also use a lot of treats to win the dog over. Giving the dog the chance to take a breather and relax for a while eating their treats and sweet talk, before proceeding to groom. The dog is not a piece of furniture. Like I have pointed out, I have seen dogs who get so excited to go to the groomers and love the groomers over the owners and it has to do with what I said, treats and sweet talk to calm the dog down before grooming again. This dog feels like you are torturing him just to give him the perfect groom. I really want you to be successful and I love dogs, I want them to have the best life. They are sensitive beings with emotions and feelings and we must respect that. It is not all about the groom.

Our small poodle was very afraid of our groomer but we started taking him to the salon occasionally to get used to the smells, sounds and hardwood floors. His biggest fear was the floors and having his nails done. It did not take long before he became a favorite customer and we grew to love our groomer for her paitents and care ❤️ for our beloved Capi. I am a new subscriber and look forward to watching more videos. Great job!

Seemed to help having someone at the front talking to him and petting him. I’ve been in veterinary medicine for32 years. It’s my thought that he is scared. His owner should bring him back every few months so he adjusts to it. Also the owner should walk him for at least 30 minutes before to work off some energy.

So many other groomers would turn the dog away and then he would have nothing. Huge huge congratulations to you for giving this dog a chance. This dog bites its owners! They can't handle the dog but she can. If she didn't do the grooming the dog would be uncomfortable and unhappy. You are doing a good job BUT PLEASE USE TREATS FOR POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. When he was acting well you NEVER GAVE HIM A SINGLE TREAT. All he sees is that it is all bad. He gets nothing from it. I have seen dogs who love their groomers over their owners because of the delicious treats. You are only focused on the groom and not the needs of the dog. You can easily win him over with treats. Poor guy, he feels like you are just torturing him. You said you are open to suggestions. It is not always about the perfect groom. You must consider the needs of the dog. That time he takes to eat a treat or two will give him that much needed time to relax. And don't be stingy with the treats. And please advise you clients that you will be using the type of treats for their approval. I am just trying to help you be successful. And maybe teach others to be successful without stressing the dog and yourself.

@@ruraldoggrooming6662 you do need to have the best treats. And different treats as some dogs like certain treats over others. Give the dog the time to relax and enjoy the treat. Positive reinforcement is very important. You need to buy the best treats as it is worth it in the long run. The dog will want to come back to you to groom. I have seen dogs who love their groomers over their owners. They know they will get the best treats ever, and lots of sweet talk. You should consider that when determining the cost of the groom. Your extra time and the cost of the extra treats. Trust me, you will have lots of repeat business. And it is not all about the perfect groom, it is about the dog too. Let your clients know that they will not get a perfect groom until the dog is conditioned to grooming. Dogs are sensitive beings. They are not like pieces of furniture.

@@ruraldoggrooming6662 I have a grooming salon in area where high charges (aka prices which actually pays for our job so it isn't undervalued) are problematic too. But if I have matted dog, I charge higher price. I'm not going overboard with it, just add 2 - 4 € / $ to total cost (depends on how bad is it). And I actually explain what that additional fee is for (unbathed dog, matted or VERY tangled coat - things which owner CAN fix for their next visit and influence the total cost next time. They often doesn't so I charge higher price. If clients can't / don't want to take care of their dog properly so be it. I had a customer yesterday with yorkshire terrier... Their last visit was in October. Poor dog was matted with very LONG hair and it's owner said they'd come even later if that dog wasn't BUMPING INTO FURNITURE. They didn't even made him a ponytail so he could see something... Poor dog had red, irritated eyes because of it. I was MAD and should charge them more. If they're willing to let it go THAT FAR, they should pay for it accordingly.

It’s always the small dogs that behave so poorly. Very rarely do you see larger breeds act up. No groomer should have to manage dogs like this. The owners anger me as they have clearly done nothing to train this dog to act appropriately.

Also, I would recommend you stop every now and than to give the dog a rest. Proceed when he calms down.

Overall I would say you did a very good job with this difficult dog. No dog should be sedated to be groomed. You were good at calming him down. I would have put the muzzle on him as soon as he was on the table and restricted his movement. If he behaved himself, I would have loosened his restraints. I would have removed them only when I needed to groom that area. I'm sorry you were bitten. That shouldn't happen to you. Finally, stop accepting intact male dogs. They are the ones who are overly aggressive. They also run a higher risk of getting certain cancers. They also are more likely to be seen in shelters, emergency rooms and dead by the side of the road. Neuter your dogs.

Totally agree with you! You should neuter your dogs, it's healthier and the dogs (sometimes) get easier to get along! Thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot to me 😍 Well with this work, by this time i'm used to get bit 😄💁 so tha't okay for me...

You are doing a GREAT job......I would let the dog bite the clippers maybe it would stop trying to bite....so the owners don't want to sedate the dog because it costs more.....you should charge more for aggressive dangerous dogs....alot more

He is a cute guy but naughty. He does not know you are helping him. Try to win him over with lots of nice treats!! I have seen dogs that love to go to the groomers because of all the great treats they get at the groomers that they would not get at home. Charge extra to cover the costs of the treats. Trust me, I have seen dogs get so excited when they hear they are going to the groomers and they even love the groomers more than their owners!! Please buy lots a great treats!! I didn't see you give him any treats when he was good. I thought they would have taught you guys that. You can guarantee you will have repeat service because the dog will love to come back!! When I used to travel with my dog in my truck, the lady at the bank used to love to give my dog some expensive treats and so whenever I would take the route to the bank, my dog used to jump all over my truck very excited, because he knew he would get those delicious treats. He just loved the bank lady. She loved animals and so she always had treats for dogs at work incase someone came by with a pet.

Anyone who has a Bichon needs to understand they need to be brushed and combed every day. Their fur mats so easily and then it pulls the skin when they are groomed. This painful situation is 100*/, the owners fault,!

The scissors you are using are dull. Sounds like they need to be sharpened. Also have you considered the curved ones to do the top notches? You are the only groomer i see that cuts with scissors in between the paw pads. It would be better to use the clippers to get them cleaner. This is important as this helps the dog with traction. It's frustrating when viewers cannot see what you're doing, we are here to see the groom. A lot of the video all we heard is Lindddaaaaa over and over plus other words your viewers don't understand. May i suggest moving the camera so we can see the dog/groom?

Thank you for your comment. I didn't wanted to force him too, but he doesn't not let the owner to brush him or even try to groom him, so he has to go under anestesia on the vet and that's not good for the animal's heart, so the owner ask me to try to shave him.

@NonArigatou

It actually depends on situations. Sometimes it is owner's wish (occurs very often - owners are either lazy to take care of their dogs, or because they don't want to stress their dog so often so they want more time between grooming sessions). And sometimes it's because dog's coat is matted and brushing it out would be more stressful than clipping it. If it's VERY matted it's actually healthy to shave it down. Matted coats can lead to skin problems.
