EXTREMELY Distressing Hike in Vermont Forest | +SOLO Tent Campout 

I’m from New Hampshire. I’ve lived in Wyoming, Washington State and Oregon. I’ve done a lot of hiking, hunting, mountain biking and fishing in the backcountry of all these places. I’ve logged countless miles hiking in New England, more so than anywhere else. Of all the places I’ve been, and I’ve been way out in many, it was in Vermont on the Long Trail I had the creepiest, most frightening experience of my life. It was in the summer of ‘94 while sleeping in a bivvy sack. What was it? Never saw it. But, it touched my face through the bivvy, woke me up, terrified!! I completely lost control screaming. It took off like a freight train, down through a steep slope of ledge and trees at a speed that was unbelievable. I heard it for a long way. Down to the bottom of a canyon of 6 to 800 feet in elevation drop and up the other side, across from where I was at least a quarter mile away. It went up that mountain as fast as it went down the one I was on and I heard it the whole way. Massive, powerful , and, what’s never left my mind was it was on two feet. It was unforgettable and terrifying, and it happened in Vermont. Your story made me relive it. I’m glad you and your aunt got out with nothing serious happening. Thanks for sharing.

My story!!! 💜💜💜 Thank you for sharing it Chris! I was able to hear you well through the rain too 😄. This is just one of my many, MANY creepy/unexplainable adventures. I can't stress how bad it scared me when we heard those footsteps start back up again after she fired the gun. And yeah, Primal: The Night Feeder. Aside from when they're fighting the thing by the end that's how it pretty much was and I still feel creeped out whenever I watch that episode. I've been out there since and nothing like that has ever happened again. Auntie thought Bear, I thought Cougar, but knowing the lore, a ley line running through the lake and native history of that beautiful place, I rather not know what it was to be honest. Spooky fact: there's a legend that somewhere at the bottom of lake willoughby, there's a huge cave with tunnels connecting to other surrounding lakes. I love to swim but have thlassophobia so my thoughts run wild with what and how big the critters might be that could be living in there.

Another great video-thank you. I was in a Marine Recon unit back in the 80's-we operated at night and harbored up during the day. My squad, five men, had something similar happen one night on patrol with a large who-knows-what pacing us until about 4:15 am. Never saw it but it must have been big due to the noise it made plowing through the forest. Point and tail end charlie were not enviable positions that night.

When i was 11, and in boy scouts! My troop got picked to open up a huge campground area in Upstate NY, above Oneonta! its was middle of winter, snow everywhere! its was called operation Igloo! anyway as first troop there, we were able to have complete run of the campground! One of the great things about being there, in winter was, there was a huge long logging road, on a hill, quite the hike to go up it, but Perfect for sledding, and it was all ours! so when we got done with chores we could go up there in the evening and do sledding, we even brought our flashlights, since it was getting dark! So here we where about 10 of us kids hiking about 3/4 of the way up this hill, when all of a sudden out of know where, a large very hairy man jumped right out in front of us, scaring the snot out of us,all running a jumping on our sleds heading way to fast down this icy road, eventually all crashing one on top of the other, almost at the bottom. We all claimed to see it differently, and we all then surmised that it must of been one of the adult scout masters that got ahead of us, just so they could scare us, when we got back to our cabin, Everyone was there, and all the fields leading towards that hill had no foot prints in the snow leading towards that hill. What was it? Bigfoot? some crazy large hairy guy, out in freezing temps, in the middle of nowhere?? I dont no, all we know is it scared the snot out of us and we didnt go back to do anymore sledding AT ALL!

Wow, what an episode! Thanks Chris! It was doubly exciting as this took place in my neck of the woods - New Hampshire's Monadnock region. The moment you mentioned Lake Pisgah, I immediately thought of Pisgah State Forest in southwest New Hampshire, where I have hiked and kayaked on one of the small lakes in the park. I had never heard of Lake Pisgah in northern Vermont, but its now on my bucket list for places to visit, and possibly kayak.
