TSH Concrete completes yet another driveway project, but this one is a little different than others due to the incline that it has. Check out how the crew handles this task.

Folks that have never worked much with concrete can't appreciate the difference between 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch slump when it comes to working it. Huge amount of physical strain placing and finishing. Hats off to you and your crew.

Completely agree with your comment . Couple of our first videos posted this year we poured at less than a 3. All I can say is DAMN! A lot of respect for anyone who chooses to pour a low slump when most guys want to pour a 6 or above.

Wow, y'all sure know what you're doing. Over the years at Corning, they continually expanded. They had a long cement road/area poured and at certain times of day, the light would reveal the waves in the cement. The forklifts would bounce so bad, the material on the forks would bounce off the forks. Obviously that crew poured it way too loose! Mike Morgan is getting his firewood pad prepared for y'all, guess you'll head that way next. In my ignorance, I'm thinking in a few hours it's gonna rain on that pour, and it dries well enough that the rain won't hurt it.? Wow. Nice to watch professionals work, I'm always learning. Great video!👍❤

anyone else notice how on the west coast (odell and best in the west) they broom finish the entire section of concrete right to the edge, but out here on the east coast, they leave edges a smooth finish by not brooming all the way to the edge? I prefer this way, gives the concrete a more interesting look with a small detail.
@thclvlshi
@thclvlshi 3 года назад
They probably just are not as skilled as this crew, and cant make the finish edge look good 🤷‍♂️
@findwork
@findwork 3 года назад
Nothing to it. All you do is run your edger over it after it is broomed to give the finished look!
@christophers.4007
@christophers.4007 3 года назад
@@findwork you're right, but i find it interesting how the west and east coast do it differently. In NYC almost all the sidewalks(done by different contractors over the years) look like the hauses. Very rarely is every square of concrete broom finished to the edge. Yet on the west coast, broom finish to the edge is what's common. Regional differences i guess.
@Moopsy122
@Moopsy122 3 года назад
@@christophers.4007 brooming gives the entire surface traction. this here is poor work. any type of ice will stick to those smooth edges and cause an accident. broomed finish is safer but some people like a combination like this.
@christophers.4007
@christophers.4007 3 года назад
@@Moopsy122 yes i understand the purpose of a broom finish. but literally, if you have ever been to NYC, NJ or other north eastern states, to leave the edges smooth is standard practice. you will see it everywhere.

That gravel looks a lot like what we call MOT TYPE 1 here in the UK .. a blended mix of stone --which placed on TERRAM geotextile membrane and then rolled gives you an instant road way - finished in any surface you desire. OR left by many a farmer. The more you run on , the more it compacts.

Very professional job, I'm sure we have companies in the UK who can do work to this standard, but they are few and far between, much preferring to go to the pub or play on their phones, same for most of the trades really, not all are like that but the ones who are any good charge extortionate prices so most can't afford them and we end up getting ripped off by cowboys who watched a couple of videos.

Why are driveways built smooth? Even this steep one. I'd be tempted to just hand-throw a bunch of gravel on top of the wet concrete to create a textured non-slip surface. Even if most of the gravel comes loose afterwards, you still have a rough surface for presumably much better traction. But why have I never seen such a thing?
