Hey guys check out my video on the belt drive system. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N5ALWFoQj40.html Stay safe and see you in the next video. 🤙🤙
I poked tiny holes in the grip tape at the truck screws so I can access them more easily. Still had to peel up the foam once to know where to poke but now I don’t need to anymore, and the holes are barely visible.
Cole yes a lot of people asked for a video with a focus on the hub system. Wanted to make sure you guys got that. Thanks for stopping by. 🤙🤙 Curious why did you select the hub version?
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent I'm going to be using my board for campus commuting mainly with recreation second. I wanted the hubs because they are lower maintenance and make less noise. I don't mind a slightly rougher ride and I wouldn't be looking to really customize the wheels. If i wanted to do a fun custom longboard, I'd either get one that was fast or non-electric. So mainly for commuting convenience
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Great to hear. I ordered the hub version too so hopefully it’s a good choice. I also want a quiet board and don’t want to deal with the maintenance yet. 😅
Hey guys I hope you enjoy the video. I wanted to give a comprehensive review of the hubs. Don’t forget that I have discount codes in the description. Stay safe and see you in the next video. 🤙🤙
Ill be ordering mine tomorrow 😁! belt drive for me! Im a person that likes to customize things. But I will also get the hubs later on once I get more experienced. Im excited to be getting my first board. After searching extensively, I couldnt find any women with eskate channels on RU-vid. Im definitely thinking about offering my perspective. Im practically obsessed now. I became interested in eskating about a year ago from another youtuber (jermaine ellis cool guy) who travels alot and took his boosted board with him. Great review very helpful insightful. I was pretty much sold on belt drive from your previous video lol
YMK The Creative this will make an excellent first board. It does everything well for the most part. Can’t wait to see some of your videos. It will be amazing.
Thank you for making this video, good to see videos on hub motor systems aren't being neglected; seems like people/the Esk8 community is often too focused on belt-driven motors. I like the lack of noise, lack of maintenance and less rolling resistance that hub motors offer.
Esk8 Jaimes thank you. I try and be comprehensive and address what the Eskate community wants. Several asked me about the hubs so I had to give it to them. Thanks for stopping by. Please consider subscribing. Stay safe. 🤙🤙
I appreciate that! Glad I could help. I really like for people to be happy with their purchases so I try and be detail. Shoot Exway a message telling them that. Take care.
Man I own 5 different boards 2 z boards and 2 halo boards the new beast and just bought this one. I wish I would have watched this a month ago. Thanks super informative. Great video.
Good honest review. The only thing I would like for reviewers to comment on or even show in videos is the difference in motor noise between the two drive systems. Could be something to consider in making a choice between them. Thanks
escquick the belts are not loud. I find that hubs can be older when going over pavement that’s is not ideal. To me the belts are not “loud” until you get to 20 miles an hour. But even then they are manageable. Really the loudness pales in comparison to the better ride experience of the belts. But I understand some prefer hubs. If you are considering this board go for the belts. Thanks for stopping by. I have links and discount code above. Stay safe.
escquick here is a link to my exway flex belt drive board. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N5ALWFoQj40.html Remember if you use my my link and discount code it supports the channel.
Hi Lance* , big thanks! Such a great video, very much apprciated! I just came to your channel from's Scott's* from Dred Sk8 . It's taken me a few weeks to decide to go for the the Exway Flex, after researching the boards within my price range. It will be my first e board, and forst skatebaord in over 30 years .. haha... I had a go on a Meepo Short board and an Evolve Longboard a few weeks back, and was super inspired, such fun!! I was going to go for the Meepo V3, as it seems like such great value, but the decided that extra investment into the Exway Flex, looks like it will be great all round. I couldn't decide between the Hubs or Riot, and nearly went for the Hubs. I'm not a real techi, and so was a little concenred with the maintanence, and possible noise. But I reckon it's all doable, I can learn to look after the belt drive right.. and the noise kinda sounds like a Back to the Future vibe to me, so could be pretty cool. I am looking to cruze, and carve and have fun finding my skate joy feet once again. & so smotthness, and ease of breaking are actually super imporant to me, especially as on the seafront promenade where I live, it's not all super smooth etc.. Looks like yours and Scott's video has been a big help in my decision making. Big Thanks!! & I figure I can always add the hubs in the new year : ) Very much looking forward to watching your main Exway Flex review tonight. Rocking Awesome video and channel. Keep shining at the top Lance* , see you amongst the stars, shining bright!! Christof Shiny Soul : ) 🌟🙏✨
Planet Feel Good appreciate that bro. Flex is very solid. But I think you should also look at the Zelaot as it is very solid too. I have a review on it on my channel. I also just did another video about their new Deck as well. Take care and stay safe. Zealot review ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yabd80XsgDc.html
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Arrh, Bless Up's Bro* , we give thanks!! Arrh, man.. more in the mix.. haha.. I did think the Zealot looks flat and smoooooth, I will check your video out.. All very exciting!! I emailed Exway yestterday, and was amazed to hear back from them today, this morning. They said as the boards are now in stock in European warehouses ( I am currently in the UK ) I could have the board within a week. So excited to get riding : ) Your channel is great! Looking forward to more Skate inspirations and top wisdom, knowledge sharing's. Big Thanks!! Take care and stay safe. Higher..!! 🌟
Interestingly there is another video comparing the Flex belt and hub versions. The results are similar to the conclusions made here. Except however whilst acceleration on the belt version was slightly better, the ability to climb a hill was slightly worse (the hub version was superior), which is perhaps an indication of torque and/or gearing. That video was backed up with timed data. That is my only criticism of this video - it is was based on opinion rather than fact. Even the noise of the belt will influence your thoughts. I'm not suggesting you're wrong, however the placebo effect is very real - and normal. Inevitably there will be revisions to the final firmware so each will only get better. It's great to be able to choose the drivetrain on the same board - thumbs up Exway. I ordered the hub version for no other reason than e-boards are frowned upon where I live so the discrete/quiet option is preferable. I also like the simplicity of the design and price too. Thanks for the uploads - I enjoy your videos.
Peejay Em interesting perspective. I think weight also plays a role too. You can feel the difference. For me the belts are faster I spoke with a few people too who have the board and they said the same thing. I was shocked because the hubs on X1 were a little faster. Also the software has been updated since some of the very first reviewers did their reviews. Just like in another month I am sure there will also be more updates. I purposely rode the same route and location to get the real world experience but also have a solid comparison. 🤙🤙 Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent I'm torn on which board to add to my meepo mini ER. I lived exway x1 but range was sad and the pro makes me nervous since I hear it gets about 12miles. Pro vs flex, seems pro gets less range? Zealot looks awesome but not sure i want to maintenence belts. Considering g3 or g3 plus. Like the lycaon trx too!
Charles Craig nice you are going to like this board. hopefully you saved some money with the discount codes in the description. Did you go with hubs or belts
Already pre ordered my Flex.... got an email saying they hope to ship May 20. That's a whole month away! And on top of that 7-14 days so that means I might get to enjoy it by June 😞
Edmund Manasan you will like it. I just put my belt system on right now. Can’t wait to ride it tomorrow. I was riding a little in the house. My wife looked at me all funny 😆
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent it was just my bad excuse to buy 2 boards and have both hub and riot at the same time. Which board would you recommendation for kids?
Joe Tavarez the PU they use is really good and the flex and grip-tape help. Larger wheels would be very interesting but we would also lose some torque. Personally I am going to stay with the 85mm belt drive. It’s very comfortable in most situations. But that’s a great observation. The Flex is also suppose to ship with 76a duro that’s really soft and grippy. What do you think? Would you want larger wheels?
Not sure if Exway has some kind of magic formula for their 76a or if they measure differently, but I know that 77a Kegels and Caguamas fall apart pretty fast. I feel very little difference between 77a and 80a personally (tbh not sure if I feel any difference), so in the future I’d probably buy harder wheels so they last longer. 80a wasn’t even considered hard until Orangatang released their 77a wheels 😆
Marcin Kuk that’s the only way to access the hardware. I suppose you could cut your own holes. Some people do that. But really you won’t do it much. I am about to switch back to the belts and leave it there. I also put my shred lights on too. Can you send me a link to the article you are talking about to my IG LansingPhillips Did you buy an Exway Flex?
"Swapping is as simple as removing the kingpin nut, unplugging the connectors, and swapping the trucks. No need to make the same dumdum mistake I made and remove the entire back truck and accidentally stretching the grip tape by trying."
That tip was from sofu reviews on eskatehq. She was correct, don’t need to remove the baseplate. Just be aware the cables are more difficult to detach this way because they’re still clamped down, but overall the process is still simpler than taking off the entire truck.
Daniel Kwan I saw that too. But when wanting to change baseplate it’s add shred lights still have to lift the grip tape. I just changed back to belt drive doing it this way.
thank you for such a wonderful review! the only person to explain the differences. I appreciate the video and it made me buy one. Also I live in a very hilly place and i bought the hub because it's more quiet, will i struggle going up some steep inclines? (usually around 15-20%)? many thanks
Thanks, great review again. For some time I wanted to buy the Flex but just found out about the Verreal RS. It's almost the same price and has massive motors and battery so great torque and range, just no flexy deck, basically an Evolve for half the price. Have you tried it?
prins2x I actually have not. I have never seen anyone in Atlanta with one either. But like you said the specs seem like an amazing value. I am sure there may be some videos on it. Let me know what you think. 🤙🤙
Hi man! Just wondering if you have some board with both belt and hub motors and if so could you make a range test to compare if you get the same range? :D
Awesome review man!!! Learned a lot! Keep it up. 2 questions. How much easier is the flex to push without power than the riot and can you even push home with the hub? How much vibration difference you’d say 10% difference then the belt?
Greg Sun I would get belt system. You can still kick the belt system. But trust you want want to kick hub or belts. Everywhere I go I bring my charger. Remember if you like the board using my link in description supports the channel. I also have discount code there to save you some money. Links above 🤙🤙
MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Even though it’s more maintenance and louder? You said they are going to fix the torque and acceleration problems? So they will both be the same in the end? Cheers!
Nice bro! Can you just change the hanger when swapping from hub to belt? Seems like the baseplate is the same so might save time and the griptape. Just a question bro because some people might be lazy like me 😂
AXLE SESSIONS yeah bro you are right. I actually did that last night when I changed back to the belt drive. Good catch. 🤙🤙 I still had to pull it up to install my shred lights Exway should put holes in the griptape.
Has anyone successfully deck swapped the Exway Flex Riot for something flatter, without those wheel flares? I'm curious about the wire in the board, if anyone has successfully got that out? It's an awesome board but damn those flares suck if you're tall with size 12 vans.
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent yes there's one video but he doesn't go through the process, also doesn't specify which board, could the the X1. No other information. Don't care about buying a nice deck for 150, totally worthwhile investment so can ride. This board is for riding in the rain but it's a no-go as it is. Damn shame there aren't less DIY solutions.
LightsOutD1 check out my Zealot amd G3 review before you make a decision. The Hubs are a little quieter but that only when you are traveling above 20 mph in the belt drive.
I use a traditional longboard for exercise and fun. I'm thinking of getting the Exway Flex for longer distances. I can push as long as I want and use the motors to travel back home. Is there much of a difference pushing a hub vs. belt drive?
If you had to only ride one, would you get a flex or a variant of the X1? About to pull the trigger on one board but I'm still hesitating. Also, great video man.
I pre ordered two exway flex riot and I was wondering how often do you usually change the belts? And do you know if it comes with spare belts in the box ? Thank you and love your videos
R RK yes it should come with spare belts. I almost have 200 miles and belts look great. It will depend on a number of factors. But you should get a couple hundred miles. If you look in the description of this video I have a link for a company called ROMP they sale belts for the Flex. I have a link and discount code 🤙🤙 you should always have spare belts. Stay safe
Can't you just swap rear hangers and leave the baseplate intact? Then you don't have to remove the grip tape... Looked like it peeled some wood up with it.
Fred Kolb you can I did that last night when I changed back to the belt drive. However I had to oil up the front to install shred lights. I think they should put holes in the grip tape.
Andre Fortune cool I hear that. I have a discount link and code in description if you like this board. But sometimes good things come to those who wait.
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent that discounts already loaded in don't you worry will drop screenshot on Facebook page when I order love the content and your dedication to eskate
Andre Fortune Eskate content allows me to not be so serious. It’s really been game changing for me. I really needed it. Wish I found out about it years ago.
Thank you for your thoughts and review. As I would want to be more stealthy and quieter with the board, because of the road law with Sweden (they have maximum of 250Wh) , would you say I should get the Exway Flex Hub or the Exway X1 Pro (Hub). It will be my first.
Sam Nattros greetings I would go for belt drive. I like the options and versatility. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N5ALWFoQj40.html I also have links and codes above. 🤙 Stay sage.
Yo man just checked out your review of the flex and was wondering after having both for awhile now do you like the zealot or flex better? I’m between these two and leaning towards the zealot especially after the recent deck upgrades as a heavier rider (about ten-fifteen lbs heavier than you). Would love to know your thoughts?
[New to e-skating] Are the wheels in the rear that cover the hub motors "sheathes" or would you need to purchase and replace the entire hub motors if you wanted new wheels?
Matt Barker just the ploy urethane you keep the more. The PU comes off easily. If you like the board use my link and discount code in the description to save some money.
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent I will DEF. be using that code! Thanks for quick reply. LOVE the channel. Especially from the ...lets just say... healthy weight rider perspective!! >_
Hello you can't put cloud wheels on the hub versions. Only the belt drive system. The belt drive has four real wheels so you can take the wheels off and put whatever wheels you want on the board as long as you have the pulley. Use link in the description if you decide to buy. It supports my work. Take care.
