great video. I live in haines city fl. I have a coconut tree growing in the yard I planted 3 years ago. everyone tells me it will never fruit. but you never know.
I live in St. Cloud (just north east of you) and my coconut palm is 5 years old. It fruits and provided me with a lot of coconut water. So it will fruit if you take care of it. Protect from cold when young and fertilize 4x a year with palm fertilizer. I have a Maypan variety which I feel does better in colder locations than the dwarf.
I absolutely must move there some day!..i currently grown bananas and several different palm trees in my back yard as ornamental plants. I live in Chicago so I don't often get a banana plant to fruit and if it does there's not enough warm season for them to ripen. my dream is to bring all my plant varieties down there and plant them in my new yard. hopefully in the next 5 years. it's a lot if work to keep these plants alive here in Chicago 😕 live your vids!👍
Im planning to move permanently to Tristan da Cunha in few years so im going to get several coconuts to plant there as climate is perfect and great soil. Any idea how long it takes from seed to actually fruit from it ? The small species you have seems great .
sorry for the noob questions.. Do you prune the tree to make it short/dwarf? If it is the tall type, can you also prune (when still young) it to become one? Is coco peat a good fertilizer for coconut trees? thanks
No, It grows up no matter what. In fact, I think lots of trimming speeds up upward growth, but you want to trim enough to see the cool trunk. Now I want to get another coconut tree!
Hey you should do a video on the native pond apple and how to eat it. Annona Glabra is they scientific name but i have also heard it called the swamp apple and the alligator apple. .There are no good videos on youtube about it.
Hehe, scarcity drives value. Wait until you see what's coming next on EYBY, hope you subbed. I got 2 Lion Head Bunnies, Composting Worms, Compost Bins, and more on the way!

My favorite fruits are coconuts I own 10 trees of coconuts but they are in Mexico what a bummer we don't have any here in California due to the weather but since the magnetic field has changed and also weather changes have been growing and happening I wonder if it's time for us to grow a coconut tree here in California

Uh his comment didn’t help you much so I’d say get find a cold hearty imported one with the shell on then root it in a bag of water and your gonna want to grow it in a pot with well draining sandy soil. They can’t survive temperatures of under 64 for the first few years so you’ll have to make a greenhouse and heat it if you want it outside. Monitor the temperature closely. Once it’s fully established it can survive as low as 30°. But I think you’ll have to grow it in a pot year round. Pick a dwarf variety for this. Good luck it is possible and people will start doing it more and more
Should sprout within a month or 2, that has been my experience. I have a neighbor who has one loaded with coconuts. I am planning on seeing if she will let me have a few to grow. If so, I will grow them and make some vids to show it.
