Living in Colomba, my life was lightened and delighted by the music of Los Panchos. Boleros and other ethnic music were my listening pleasure. 610AM in Bogota was called "Radio Bolero."
Im a filipino but spanish or mexican music is a true music to my ears even i dont understand some lines, act and sounds are enough for me, its happiness listening to this kind of true music

In the mid 1960's, my mom bought an album my entire family loves, "Eydie Gorme and Los Panchos: Amor." This album was played so many times, my mom bought another copy. In 1967, I was five years old. I remember playing the album and sitting in front of the speakers. I was listening to the album and staring at the cover. I was thinking Eydie Gorme is so pretty. In the early 1970's, my mom bought a copy of the album on an 8-track tape. In 2005, I bought a copy of the album on CD. In 2017, I had finally found a used copy of the album on vinyl. I listened to it once. I bought a frame for it and I have it hanging in my living room with other framed albums by The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Santana. My siblings and I have different tastes in music. My siblings and I love the album, "Eydie Gorme And Los Panchos: Amor." This album is one of my favorite top ten albums I love and listen to alot. My favorite song on the album is "Historia de un Amor."
I'm about the same age as you, and my memories of this album are very similar. The older I get, the more I love that album and the pride it makes me feel in my Latin American culture.

Don't forget that the lead singer for the "Trio Los Panchos" in this video is no other than Puerto Rico's Johnny Albino (RIP) The "Trio Los Panchos" golden years were mostly while they had some wonderful Puerto Rican lead singers at three different stages of their career. It all started with Hernando Aviles, later it was Julito Rodriguez Reyes who himself was replaced by Johnny Albino.
Eydie Gormé was born in the Bronx, New York City to Sephardic Jewish parents on this day in 1928. She and her family spoke several languages at home, including Ladino, which is rooted in Spanish. She died on August 10, 2013.
She worked as a translator at the UN before she became a professional singer. She and Steve Lawrence were regulars on the Steve Allen Show in late 1950s.

He was really prolific; wish that I had known as a very young woman that Bobby Capo was really the creator of many beautiful popular songs.

Eydie Gormé era judía estadounidense de etnia sefardí, en su casa hablaban ladino, o sea un español del siglo 16 con influencias del hebreo, griego, turco y aremeo que se habla aun en comunidades judeo-sefardíes de Sarajevo y en Turquía, por eso cantaba con fluido español.

Afortunadamente lograron ponerse de acuerdo, siendo tan famosos cada quien por su lado, para grabar varios LP´s de vinilo en español y dejar en video este estupenda participación en televisión.
