@Stewart Fleming I wish it worked for me. but there are some newer drops coming down the pipeline that may actually change the elasticity of the lens which will be really revolutionary. Glad they worked for you and give some glasses free time!

I am a 20 year old -9 myope. I just recently got implantable collamer lens surgery and unfortunately my night vision is unsatisfactory due to my large pupil sizes (scotopic pupil 7.5mm). I tried Vuity for off-label use. Vuity gives me a headache (tolerable) and a temporary -1.5D of nearsightedness for around 2 hours. After that, I see perfectly throughout the night. The effect lasts around 8-10 hours. It reduces my pupil size from 7.5mm all the way to 3.5 mm. Despite the difference, I don't realize much about the darkness. Yes things do seem to get just a little darker, but the effect isn't a problem to me. After using Vuity Imy night vision was the crispest and clearest I have ever had in my entire life. I basically have 20/10 vision even at night. Unfortunately the headache and temporary blurred vision are big bummers so I don't use it everyday, possibly only 2-3 times a week. If it wasn't because of the headache and blurred vision I will use it everyday instead.

I've had them for about two weeks now, I do notice when I first put the drops in my eyes do feel funny but that goes away in a few minutes. My eyes get bloodshot, but it goes away in about ten minutes. No headaches! I have clear vison for maybe five hours tops! Looking out my window right now everything looks so crisp and clear and I'm nearsighted. My hope is that the price comes down in the near future! 🤞

Just got them last week. I’m 53. I’ve been wearing +2 drug store reading glasses for almost 10 years. The drops work perfectly for me! It feels like a super power. I’m typing this comment on my phone without glasses and normal text size. I’d say I gained more than 3 lines - probably 4. It’s freaky to be honest. No side effects other than that weird vignette/halo on the periphery. I’m happy.

I'm a physician viewing this video right after Vuity for the first time. My impression is the same as your. Perhaps a *slight* improvement. But not enough to make me consider getting a script after the optho-provided sample runs out. Let's hope that UNR844-Cl (Novartis) works out. It is a lipoic acid ester employed with the goal of restoring flexibility to the crystalline lens over time. Still in stage 2 trials right now, unfortunately. All of the others in the pipeline are simply other muscarinic agonist derivatives.

I felt weird. My optometrist tried it. She’s 55 and has blue eyes and she got an immediate headache. Not sure if I’ll use it or not. I might try again. But I actually kind of like my readers so I don’t mind!

One of the other reasons we stopped using Pilocarpine (30 yrs ago), once a patient has been on Pilo for any length of time it was almost impossible to dilate there eye. After many rounds of dilating drops, Retina exams were almost impossible. Even at the lower dosage I would be surprised if Vuity didn't have the same effect.

I am 48 and I just tried it . I'm talkin about 15 minutes ago and I could Now read my phone without my glasses. It's not 2020, it is a little bit blurry. but the fact that I could read it is a plus in my book

That's awesome! You're so lucky. My ophtho friend said that there might be some ciliary muscle improvement if you use it for 7 days in a row and then you might see improvement when there was none initially.

Do you think by wearing your glasses while you were waiting for the time to go by may have had an effect on the results. Also are you only supposed to use it once and or how often can it be used? It did seem to improve your eyesight slightly which means it didn't fail your test completely. Also since you mentioned about having to take your daughter for gymnastics the night before I wonder if that cute little girl at around the 2:00 minute point might in fact be your daughter wearing the cute little round glasses. And were those her own real glasses? I have several questions about my own vision I will be asking you in the near future. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Tried and effect lasted about 3 hours. Weird sensation in the eyes similar to the effect of being in the sun and going indoors. Causes redness first few minutes and goes away, and compared to the glasses, the near vision improvement is not so clear. Hope they come up with something better and cheaper because those Vuity drops are expensive.

So do u have to use it for the rest of your life to get better near vision or for some fixed time period like 30 days or something after which u won't require these drops and ur near vision will be perfect without these and not just 5 hours

I tried this. I’m 46. The headache was terrible & also I felt like it made the room seem darker. I’m not sure if I want to try it again because of the headache. If that’s something that’s would get better w time , it would be worth it to me. I hate not being able to see the computer at work. Im just at the point to where I can see some small print. But the tiny , I cannot.

Yes that's what my optometrist, who is in her 50's said when she tried. She got an immediate headache and HATED it!

Crazy how everyone's mileage varies with this one. I got zero headache from it. And I am chronic tension headache prone to begin with. And things like 3D movies or VR glasses kill me w/ headache and nausea. Then again, it didn't improve near vision at all. I would think I missed, but some miosis is definitely apparent in the mirror. Let's hope the drops that work by restoring lens flexibility work out.

I know that would be great. Right now there are ways to prevent the worsening of myopia in kids - low dose atropine drops and soft contact lenses like MiSight

I have 3 side affects for around 20-30 minutes. First a little eye pain which as I have used for a week has been less. Second is a deepening darkness like wearing sunglasses. Third is a 3d effect to digital displays that seem to raise the center of view. These all go away in less than a half hour and I have near perfect near vision for around 5 hours which progressively gets worse back to my normal bad vision. Working outside in Alaska with -40 degree weather wearing readers is near impossible. I hope as stated from the insert that after 30 days these side affects will lessen or disappear.

@@DrRupaWong Wow! If they were my kids, I would have them sitting up. They would be wearing a +2 Diopter lens for reading at 20 inches. This would prevent their entry into myopia, with a high probability of success.

I know people like to "try things ". For me, your most impressive step, is to try "myopia PREVENTION ", for your own children. I have advocated intelligent prevention, for many years. You are indeed the first Ophthalmologist do it. Successfully!

The fact that you were nervious about taking it and you are an eye dr. says it all. You are also still holding the eye chart at arms length to see which is still using your far sightedness. What line can you read when holding the eye chart up close to your face like 10 inches?

My eyes don't dilate as much as they should, apparently from my ankylosing spondylitis, so I'm constantly squinting or wearing sunglasses, even indoors. I suffer from headaches from light. My friends tease me that I'm secretly a vampire. I also get migraines, but one of the worst symptoms for me light becomes unbearable. I also wear +2 readers. I wonder if this would help.

These drops don’t dilate your pupils, they constrict them. To dilate is to open them.

You said if a person is near sighted they are more at risk for retinal detachment using this product, but they wouldn’t be using this product since they can see up close because near sighted means the can see near. So why would a near sighted person even use it?

Sounds discouraging.. What do you think about presbyopia eye exercise? It will a dream if those exercise can reverse presbyopia, but can it at least maintain the eyesight to not getting worse?

No, generally people w/ Dry SMD see better w/ a larger aperture ie; large not small pupil.

Just tried it two days in a row. I’m a month shy of turning 50. I have perfect distance vision and use 1.25 cheaters. My results were not worth using this product. I got about 3 hours of improvement before it wore off. My eyes got very red immediately and stayed red for the 3 hours it was improving my near vision. Slight headache and both eyes experienced a sensation I had something in my eye at times. The improvement it gave me was about as good as I get with my Multifocal contacts, which is just ok. Noticed a bit of tunnel vision while reading small print. In the house, had a bit of darkness, like if I was wearing sunglasses indoors. Overall, not worth it for me. Good luck to those it works for. I am glad I did try it but not for me.

Is it true that when you wear glasses, it won't actually correct your eye but you have to use the glasses for the rest of your life? In short, corrector glasses doesn't actually work?

Corrective lenses only correct your "vision" (not your eye) while you are wearing them. If you want to try to reverse nearsightedness look up Orthokeratology. I do not advocate for it but, some do.

I'm disappointed on your behalf that you only got 1 line difference considering you're a mild presbyope. Do you know how much pupil constriction you got with the drops? I wonder if some people get more pupil constriction than others which will increase the number of line improvement.

Yes, that's what I was thinking too. My pupil size is SMALL at baseline. So, I had my optometrist try it who has blue eyes and average sized pupils. She's 58 though. She got about a line of difference too. I thought it would be neat to compare different pupil sized individuals b/c I didn't see that in the original data

You can't remember where you put your glasses. You need something for short-term memory loss as well. I'm 60 years old. I could remember where I set my glasses down.

Good review. It is not worth $1,000 a year. A $10 plus lens, solves the problem. I can read my Cell, this text, at 22 inches, no glasses. Each week I confirm 20/20, on my Snellen.

There is none. Also these eye drops may cause retina detachment and they will ruin your nighttime vision. Risking blindness for a minor improvement in near vision doesn't seem wise. Look into EDOF IOLs instead.

Most annnoying condition is 0.5 hyperopia. Glasses degrade your distance vision , doesn’t improve on near vision cuz already I can see clearly but I can’t be without glasses cuz without glasses I have pounding headache

Good lord, you should have not been using your glasses while waiting. As an eye doc you have to know that your eyes are adjusting to the glasses.

I am 57 and late for the drops. I just found out about it today. My eye doctor probably knew for years but likes selling me glasses and surgery after it worsens to the point I am blind. Greedy A h&*(%.

Readers purchased at CVS etc are ok? I have always heard that the "readers" distort your vision and are not good for reading. Get prescription glasses!

That's a myth. I've sent hundreds of my patients to get "CVS - Walgreens" readers. Why spend hundreds of when you can spend ten dollars. Make it easy on yourself, pick up an aspirin bottle. Carry it over to the "readers" turnstile try the different glasses while trying to read the small print on the aspirin and go either up or down in the Rx until you find the comfortable reading distance (arm at a comfortable reading point). If it doesn't feel right or if you think you perceive distortion try a different pair. Don't forget to pay for the aspirin.
