Not sure if this might be helpful, but since I have 20/20 vision, in a rush, or for an easy day, I’ll stand about 3-4 ft (my sink counter + space) & do my entire “face-face;” eye shadow & brows; & main lip color (not liner) all from afar. Then lean in close to a mirror to line my (super pointy & anal Cupid’s bowed) lips & eye liner...& precisely remove the mascara I invariably get on my lids on the last 2 swipes😂. & yes, this is exactly bc other than the details (liners) you miss your look together as a whole if you’re too zeroed-in! (Hellooo neon blusher I didn’t notice til a public bathroom mirror! etc🤣😃)
I love Marc Jacobs eyeliners, so creamy to apply. I tightline my 70 year old eyes, but only at the base of my lashes, not the waterline. Makes it a more subtle line and makes my lashes look thicker at the base. Now I need to practice the little flick.
Just found you randomly because of the hooded part, but I am only 28 so some of the problems that wiser (older young women), I don't have.... But I'll be continuing to watch some of your videos and showing my 66 year old momma in law and my 55ish year old Aunt. Especially my aunt though... She'll love you lol. I subbed and you'll be getting at least two more subs from people I know, probably more. Also, GOOD ON YOU for being so unashamed on aging and just fixing the issues you may face with the aging in different ways and then sharing those things with all of us!!! I'd love to talk to you. Please answer back to my comment if you see it so I can give you my email address for now unless you aren't comfortable with that. Either way, GO GIRL, GO!
What changed my life is finding out there was a tiny pencil sharpener on my Marc Jacobs eyeliner pencil😎. Still need more practice perfecting the kitten swish (or whatever you called it)! Thanks Angie!
Since no one seemed to know about the hidden sharpener in the MJ liner, you should do a ‘did you know’ video pointing out things about products people might not know about 😸
@KittenAtPlay , You are Definitely Right, I have a MJ eyeliner , and forgot I have it till Angie mentioned it, and I Definitely didn't know it has a sharpener on the end , smh, and by the way my magnifying mirror is 20×, how about that for my 60+ eyes, don't do much makeup these days ( mask ) but I still like to do individual lashes for a instant eye lift, concealer to brighten, that's pretty much it of course plenty of moisturizer and sunscreen,
I love your kind and reassuring words to people struggling with declining eyesight and motor skills. You are so kind and aware of your entire audience, and it makes my heart full. Have a great weekend Angie.
HotandFlashy I was just about to say this as well. You actually made me start to tear up. ❤️ Makeup can be a struggle as we get older. I spend way more time on it now and yet the end result can be just meh. It was so sweet of you to remind us not to beat ourselves up for being less than perfect. You are so uplifting! 💕 As always, love all your eye tutorials. I always learn something new. 🌸
Love "the blob" technique. My goddaughter asked me how I did my eye makeup recently and I shared it with her. She is only 19, proving your videos have content for every age. Thank you so much Angie!
The trick of coming in a couple of lashes from the outer corner just might make the difference for me. I will try it. I only do the tightline normally.
@@walkingbyfaith5504 me too Angie, I’m 70 and couldn’t possibly dream of leaving the house without my full make! I’ve done the same technique since I was 14 after watching my older sister apply hers! 🤣💝 and it still ‘fits’ I’m happy to say! Love to hear your calming, positive voice. Love and warm wishes to everyone here from England just leaving British Summertime behind this weekend 🥺🥶 ! In God’s love and light xxx ☀️
How about this Duh moment? I couldn’t understand why it didn’t twist up like the mini! Just discovered there was a label over the end that I didn’t see! 🤦🏻♀️ I thought it was broken and that was all the product I was going to get for $26! Color me dense. 🤪 And/or blind. Thanks everyone! ☺️
What a lovely, down-to-earth lady - I'm getting married next Saturday at the age of 61 and was getting into a real panic about not being able to apply eyeliner properly because of my eyesight. You've now allayed my fears somewhat! - Thank you kind lady!
Angie!! I was just about to do my makeup when I saw your video. I tried the technique & my husband did a double take & said "Honey you look extra pretty today" he must've looked back at me a smiled a handful of times after that. How awesome is that? Thank you so much for the tip! 🤗
Thank you for that eyeliner wing tip! Aging tip: when you’re old enough you need cataract surgery you can ask that the new lens to be inserted in your eye be one for near vision so that you can do your eye makeup. My Opthamamologist had never heard that request before. In my case we did the first eye with a lens that focused at 12 inches for cosmetic application. For the second eye my ophthalmologist suggested we take the focus a little further out so that I can actually walk around my house without glasses on, and I can read a book without glasses, but I cannot drive without glasses on. These two focus lengths were close enough that my brain adjusted to them very nicely. This may have worked so well for me because of my original nearsightedness, so I was used to seeing what was immediately before me but not what was far away clearly.
Hi Abbie, I hope you are having a good day 😊. I too had cataract surgery on my left eye a couple of years ago. I couldn’t believe the difference it made to my eyesight! I haven’t worn contact lenses since. My first glasses prescription was aged 15. I had no idea we could request different lenses! Next Monday I’m off to the hospital for the cataract assessment on my right eye and will certainly be asking for the type where you will be able to read without specs. At present my sight is perfect apart from the right eye occasionally blurring. Reading and driving etc no problem. Do you have to pay for this in America? A straightforward procedure here is free on our NHS but to request the type for close up work I just found out will cost £1,000. I don’t mind this though, look how much I’ve already saved in contact lenses. Thank you for this important information 😘 all the best, Christine God bless xxx

Or "spendy" (expensive) or "lippy/lippies" (lipstick/s). I accidentally did the "kitty cat flick" a few days ago, but I love her more technical- albeit realistic, age appropriate, and simply lovely- explanation for how it's done. Thank you Angie!
I use L’Oréal infallible lauquer liner gel, then while still wet I use another little angle brush to smudge & feather it out. Same as done here, but w brush so the lines a little more defined.
So far eye liner has been my Nemesis (I got super hooded and down turned eyes) but i will give this a try and let you know. Thanks for the video sweet Angie 😘
I am 63. I am not very good at applying eyeliner. This may help. I don't know that a woman my age should even do this much makeup anymore and certainly not for everyday. What do others think?
If you feel like it, and love your make up, please, do so unregarding your age! If it’s not something you’d normally do, and you feel good that way, we’ll, by all means stick to that routine. To each their own, I personally love make up but since after 55 so many wrinkles around my eyes started to show, I don’t love using it as much as I used to, unfortunately, as I always seemed to emphasize those wrinkles instead of making me look better, I looked worse
I have watched "every" makeup tutorial on RU-vid and I still stink at doing eye makeup (thank goodness for crayon shadows). I think you should still wear makeup if you want to. If you can rock it, rock it! I'm 51, btw. I hope this video helps us both. Good luck! 🍀
I’ve learned so much from watching your videos and this has been by far the most helpful tip! I can finally get the cat-eye look and an eye-lift effect to boot! We’re the same age and you’re my beauty inspiration. Thanks for the great content!
For those who have a difficult time tight lining, another technique is to use the dot method where you place a dot of eyeliner between every lash on your upper lashes. You can then also use a brush to smudge it out a bit if you want to go for a more smudged look or if your dots are spaced too far apart. Trish McEvoy is known for this technique and her gel liners are perfect for it!
What a good trick-I’ll try this today. Random request: would you mind doing a video about how to make colors wearable? Every time I google blue/purple/green wearable eyeshadow, I feel like there’s an unspoken competition to make the wildest, rave-worthy look possible!
I love this idea. I'm a little scared to wear colors and not end up looking like a clown. So I stay in browns, corals, peachs and pinks. But blues and greens could be a fun look if one knew the trick!!!
Try using a colored eyeliner like blue, teal, or purple! Urban decay has every color you could imagine and they are budge proof and so silky and smudgable! NYX makes liners like Urban decay also. Pretty good but not as silky a formula, and a little harder to smudge but they are budge proof. Tons of beautiful wearable colors like UD and about $10-12 less...✌❤💋
Oh, yay! Perfect timing (for me)! Just the other day, I was just trying to add a tiny wing and ended up with a seagull wing!!! Thank you, Angie! Hope you have a great weekend and see you next week! XO~Maria
I will definitely be ordering your product suggestions and following your hack! Now in my 50's I really wanted to get away from applying an 80s eye makeup look ! I'll be bringing myself into the 21st century with your eye liner tips & tricks! Thanks so much!
I like this hack! What I usually do that also works is while my eyes are open I follow the line of my eyelashes and go straight up from the eyelid (almost like you're creating an additional eyelash). I also find that using a small brush and eye shadow is easier and more forgiving. 💕
Thin and damp angled brush with shadow is my go to. I have the MJ liner but can’t get it thin and precise enough. I can’t tightline with it either. My eyes are too sensitive for most pencils there. Instant watery red eyes are not attractive haha.
Does anyone wear eyeliner under the bottom lashes anymore? I feel like this is so 80's yet I do it because I never learned another way. Is it totally "out of style" now?
I stopped wearing bottom eyeliner years ago. I probably never should have been wearing it because it makes my eyes look smaller (not exactly the goal). I do sometimes use a dark eyeshadow and eyeliner brush but only go about halfway in from the outsides.
The little brush that comes with the L'oreal potted gel liner is perfect for smudging just along the top edge of your line to smooth out the craggies. I swear by it.
Sigma e68 brush (line perfector) is amazing too! I cant live without that brush! I have 2 of them.. 😂 its very soft and easy on the eye area!!! Perfection!👍💯✌❤
They're also on sale at Marc Jacobs site. Some are even cheaper, and there's a lot more availability. ;) Also, if you spend $50 you get free shipping and trial mascara, if you spend $75 you get the mascara and 2 day shipping.
THANK YOU!!! I’ve inherited a hooded lid from my mom and I’ve stayed away from doing a cat/winged eye with eyeliner because it would NEVER come out right. I will try this technique the next time I do my makeup. I’m EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 35 with pronounced hooded lids for my age, I really needed this...thank you so much for this!!! I can now continue my signature cat eye look ty ty ty ty 😁😘
Fabulous50s has a similar hack. She uses eyeshadow and a brush. I enjoy her Australian (I think) accent. Thanks for the blob hack Angie! At 63 I’m open to as many choices as I can find. Never too old for makeup and skincare!
Great video. I finally decided to order another shade of the Marc jacob’s eyeliner and was very happy see it on sale on the Sephora Canada site for $20. That’s cheap for us Canadians :)
Hi Angie, I've been following your channel for around 4 years now and I love it you've helped me so much with both skincare and makeup and although I don't usually comment I felt I had to say thank you sooo much I've never been able to do a wing with my older hooded eyes but I really feel like you've thrown a light on this and I will definitely give this method a go thanks so much take care all the best Mary in Australia 🌻
You must have seen my eyeliner wing struggle this morning, lol! Thanks for the great demo! Tomorrow is definitely going to be a a good eyeliner day thanks to you! 😘
You are fabulous, thank you so much for this as I was really struggling to get the flick in the same place on each side so this is super super helpful you are a star thank you. X
I have used products you’ve recommended before and was not disappointed. The Marc Jacobs gel highliner is one i just tried today based on your rave review and i LOVE it! It did not smudge, smear or disappear. Yay! I bought two from Sephora on faith - and they were on sale. Even better. Thank you so much!! 💜😀
This is so great. Dont go all the way to the corner. It definitely makes you look younger. :) Thank you for the reminder to be patient and non judgy to ourselves. No one else looks at us through our eyes!
Hi Angie, been watching your channel since 40K subscribers. Always super helpful and down to earth. Love your breakdowns, comparisons, and honesty...Use a lot of your recommendations.. Thank you
Random request- can you do a Amazon shorts haul / try on/ recommendation video for spring / summer? I was just looking at the jean shorts on Amazon and was instantly lost and overwhelmed! So many to choose from and the description are lacking info (most don’t include inseam Length or rise height etc).
I love this and I’m definitely going to try this as I’m 43 and my skin isn’t what it once was and I want my eye to look open and bright, not saggy and wrinkled. Thanks for the help ❤️
Thank you for keeping it real and saying "...as much as an eyeliner hack can." And your teeth are stunning. So white. Is that natural or do you have a hack for that as well? Love your energy and style of videos. Thank you!
Thanks Angie. I do the same: don't go out as far as your lashes, pretty much stay on your lid. Once I have the flick mapped out (works every time) I then bring the line from the top point with a bit more "wedge" I guess than you do. I swoop towards the lash line on the down stroke but I chunk the flick a bit by down drawing beside the flick on the inside to eventually meet the lash line. But SUBTLY only, don't use too much of that lid space, just a mm farther away on the inside in a triangle shape towards meeting the lash. Makes it more pronounced and really there. I still soften the edges with a angled brush and I usually use a very dark brown, deep navy or a brown black as you do. Deepest black always looks like too much. XOX Geez am I making any sense? So hard to explain!
I'm dying for someone to do mascara FIRST. The thing is, I'm a disaster at mascara but I have light lashes so i really need it. I do it first so I can clean it up without ruining everything else.
Hi, I have oily lids and most waterproof soft eye pencils cause racoon eyes for me. Is there any one pencil that protects against this. It is very embarassing.
My lids are oily too. I have found a couple of things that help. I wash my lids with cleanser in the morning. After drying I use the ordinary caffeine solution on them and let them dry. I use Australian gold tinted spf and apply a light layer to lids as well. Once it's set I use a dusting of maybelline fit me powder as my setting powder. Then my shadows and liner stick and don't smear, a waterproof liner is a must as is a balm or oil first cleanse at night. Hope that helps
The one she mentioned is a really good one. (Marc Jacobs) The Irony color she mentioned and others are on sale for $15 at Sephora right now. The full size is usually $26. I’m sure she has a link in the description box.
I have the same issue. Tried many waterproof eyeliners and they still all smudge by about midday. So far Stila Liquid Eyeliner has worked the best for me. No more racoon eyes
Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, it starts to smudge by midday and I forget to check. So I stick with liquid pens. In an older video Angie had shown how to make a small flick up at the outer end using liquid liner.
Can't wait to try it. Thank you!!! I always get so close to my mirror that my brush hits it 😬. I'm going to be 50 later this month. Can't wait till I can only put on makeup with a 10x mirror. But whatcha gunna do. 🤷♀️.
@@AllyKit that's a good idea!! My aunt's wore makeup well into their 70s I am not giving up my love for pretty stuff!!! Loved makeup since I was a toddler 😍.
Angie I've watched you for years, and I absolutely looks like a 2-year-old did it, you can't think that looks good I mean it looks so up and down or, just awful
Sorry doll. There is NOTHING life changing about this. There is nothing different. This is the same exact way young girls with nice tight eyelid skin use. I thought you were going to show us something different and easier for us over 50 gals who have loser eyelid skin. The outer corner of our eyes are almost IMPOSSIBLE to pull tight for a wing. Hell i don't even need a wing. I'd just like an easier way to apply eyeliner. This is nuthin different.
I love this technique and can't wait to try it! Ive always had an obsession with eyeliner because i love how it looks, but I can't use a liquid eyeliner, a gel works much better! TY for this tutorial!
Love this technique! Im 47 so just starting to deal with drooping, and have naturally hooded eyes. Ive been wearing very light dewey makeup lately and all of my eyeliner techniques are just too too, so Ive been skipping liner and darkening shadow at eyeline... but something was missing. Your blob w tightline and flick is just the thing! Thank you!
I always enjoy your videos but I especially appreciated this one. What a beautiful sentiment you conveyed. We are so often waaaayyy too critical of ourselves, its great to be reminded every now and then to ease up - NO ONE gives us as much of a hard time as we give ourselves. Keep up the fabulous work you beautiful human 😘.
Hi Angie. The other day on another online platform, images, not videos an ad popped up for a "strange" product video. A piece of "skin" looking plastic that is a fake eyelid, ie, you stick it on your hooded or if you are of any Oriental (hope that is politically correct) - this piece of fake skin supposedly gives you youthful wide lids- like a Pre Raphaelite beauty or a crease. Looked weird but yes there was eyeliner and shadow on after. Since you experiment with so many products, I wondered if you kniw of it or would try it. Don't know the name sadly or the cost. Maybe from Korea. Thanks as always for your videos. Haven't been here for ages but your in my thoughts honest. I am always on Amazon - bookworm - I hope all is well in your personal life- you look gorgeous and glowing. I got my hands on Azelaic acid, clindamycin in alcohol! Night n are and tretinoin - I look worse, my nose, and at my age! Little bumps, the products made me peel, breakout, scabs and red. I tried to layer and left off my Cerave Moisture for Oily? The formula with niacinamide- I use their cleanser too, against my G.P. 's advice- the dermatologists in this neck of the woods push too many face lifting (threading, she won't do it I noticed and my hubby says the waiting room full of mid age women with fake, swollen, Angelina Jolie lips look awful and he is NOT SEXIST OR MEAN. I added that because the first thought is, why doesn't she have a dermatologist? I know you are a VERY busy entrepreneur but could you offer help. I am a bit older than you and can't get eye makeup on or foundation, acne scars so why wear lipstick alone- for me the COVID MASK IS GREAT, SAD HUH? I do have a great therapist. Depression and worse. All the best. You are SO lucky to be tall and gorgeous, you wear the dress or the jeans not the other way round. You truly would look great in a potato sack- you have class and emit confidence- you never look like a teen wannabe over 40, although I adore Vivienne Westwood's notions and clothes etc. A great iconic woman for any age to follow- Namaste, Z
Angie, what a blessing from God you are to the more mature of us. I'm 52. 53, on Saturday! 🎂. Keep on sharing and caring as you do! Regarding makeup, what is the highlighter you said you use on your Cheeks that people ask did u have your cheeks filled? Thank you!
2 issues I'd like to get advice on, can anyone help? • my eyes don't get infected or red, but tear up like crazy when I try "tightlining' - is it "normal" or should I just not do it? • I love eye liner, but all this pulling + tugging business: I thought it is to be avoided at all cost, especially when getting older? I don't want to WRECK my delicate eye skin, daily, by applying makeup that's supposed to make me look better + younger...!?
Your BEAUTIFUL 🌸👼🏻 and have such a way with seeing things that we all have obsessed about THANK GOD or Beautiful people like YOU LOVE For putting things in a Beautiful Honest perspective I recently realized after going through breast cancer and losing my eyelashes eyebrows & hair that the only one that cares so much about how I look is me nobody cares as MUCH AS I care and I have lost a lot of time with people I love and time in life worrying so much about how I look that I feel horrible because now the time that I should have been enjoying just being natural I can never get it back natural is always Beautiful 🎁
🤔🤔🤔❤U Angie, but not 2 crazy about this hack. I much more prefer using skin tape as a guide. I get a much more precise, sharply defined small or longer wing on my very mature loosen skin, extremely hood lids...but because u are so awesome at what you do I can see this working 4 so many viewers... Stay safe and thank you again..much love 4u ❤elanie.....its Melanie😂
