Thank you so much for this!!! I’m fortunate to have large eyes…but they turn down at the end, and the cool winged look has never worked for me. I do like liquid eyeliner (and I wish more companies did colors besides black…I have fair skin, and black eyeliner is way too harsh for me…hint…Stilo makes a really nice liquid eyeliner in browns also.) I’ve never had luck using shadow as liner…my eye area has always been a little oily and shadow used as liner will be raccoon eyes running down in a few hours, lol! MAC 24 hr waterproof eyeliner (stick) stays on really well, doesn’t smear, isn’t drying (for me) as my other go-to. The tape idea is fantastic!!! Especially because I start to feel a little like a ‘free style artist’ and I’m going all over the place with it! Your eyes are shaped and contoured similar to mine, and we’re a similar age, so that’s helpful too…oh, and yes, I have to make a very weird face both curling my eyelashes and putting on mascara 🤣 (Sorry if brand names are not wanted in posts…please remove if so.) I have short, thin, lighter eyelashes that are a little sad…and they just keeping getting thinner (as well as my eyebrows thinning and disappearing…welcome to life after 40 and 50!) but, I haven’t ever tried false eyelashes and would have no idea what to do…I’m sure you have a video on it, so I’ll go hunting!
Wow. You made it seem so simple & easy. Thanks so much for doing this. And I think it's so cute when we make different faces as we're doing our eyes/brows. I appreciate you !
Me either. My eyes aren't perfectly symmetrical, so I always find that when I try to do a cat eye/winged liner, I can do one of my eyes pretty good, but the other one never seems to match! I've found that doing it this way really helps.
Unfortunately it doesn't work on downturned eyes where the "fold" goes down past the outer corner of eye, "blocking" any wing ☹️. And a batwing is not a look I like on my mature eyes
Def gonna use the tape method now!!! Guess I'll have to hang-up my liquid liner boots!!!! It was always my go-to but I cannot get it to work for me anymore .. it 'skips' and just looks messy .. this was a GREAT tutorial!! i have meditape so I am going to experiment with that!! Thanks Stephanie-Marie!! xx
It works well for me that way. Try it on a practice round and see if you like the end result. The good thing is that makeup washes off! If you don't like it that way, try stretching a bit to see if you like that better. But because your eye, when in a neutral position, has those folds, the liner should sit well when the tape is placed gently over them. When you remove the tape, the "wing" should be better than if you stretched things, placed the tape, lined, removed the tape, and then your folds went back into place. I hope that makes sense. If the bottom line is a bit crooked, you can clean it up with concealer or just a brush or even smudge things a bit to make it kind of smokey on the bottom as well as the top. I hope it works for you! Keep me updated!
Yes yes that's what I need deep gray!!! I always see brown being used, knowing black is too harsh for my age but brown makes me look tired, washed out! I have hazel eyes so gray it is!!
I'll use tape if I'm going out at night or something bc I have time. If I'm going to work, I rush my makeup routine so I don't have time for tape, bit it's definitely a good thing to use. Thank you.
Yes Stephanie I definitely LOVED this video & I’ll definitely be trying it!! You made the eyeliner look so easy!! I hope I can do it like you did!!❤❤❤ I’ve watched a lot of videos for hooded eyes, but honestly you explained this technique so well, I think I’ll be able to do it!!😊Im excited to try this tip!! I loved the way you stopped in the middle of your eye & made the line a little thicker as you went outward! You are beautiful to begin with, but w just this little bit of eyeliner & the simple technique, your eyes transformed!! I can see why you used to only wear it this way on special occasions, as it looks very classy & very beautiful on you!! I really loved the way you built the liner up as you brought it outward!! YES it was worth saying it twice ladies!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Thank you again Stephanie for this beautiful yet simple video!! Please more videos like this one for us over 40 w hooded eyes !!!❤❤❤😊😊😊
What an attractive look! Will try it since I do have eye tape with a blingy dispenser I got a while back and will re- visit it and try your liner style! Your videos are always helpful and appreciate that!
I’ll give this a try. Every time I try winged liner of any type it looks kind of strange on me. I can’t decide if I’m just not used to it, or if it does look goofy on me.
I think you’re just not used to it bc I’m the same way! Start out w very small liner until you get used to it! That’s what I had to do. Since I only wear makeup on special occasions, everyone was giving me compliments & I was a little self conscious about it! Especially about the false eye lashes. I’m afraid one might be crooked or hanging off the side & nobody would tell me! I have very short eyelashes that’s hard to see since I passed 40 awhile back!lol
Thank you so much. My eyeliner has been wonky and smudged. I am getting older, and I love the fact you are saying things like the involuntary mouth movement. Me, too. I do think I’m asymmetrical as well. I don’t know if any of us are perfect. Love that it looks so nice.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was so invested in your video and loved how easy you made everything look. You’re so cute and funny. You’re my favorite influencer . Keep up the good eork
I always prime and set my lids. In lots of tutorials you see liner being set with shadow after to set it, similarly to how we set liquids on our face with powder. Powder shadow usually lasts well if the quality is good and if it's pigmented and the excess is tapped off before you place it down. Applying it wet can be good too using either water, setting spray or a fixative also. I hope that helps!
Aha!! I need some tape. I've been trying to do this but I haven't used tape (it didn't even cross my mind). It's a very effective and pretty look 😍 Do you have any recommendations for a good lash glue, please? Much love to you 💖🌟💖🌟💖🌟💖
Hi Chrissy! I like the one from Kiss for sensitive eyes here: amzn.to/3P8VYFX because my eyes tolerate it really well for lengthy wear and it sticks nicely. Thank you! :)
Love this, thank you so much. I use medical tape, (its cheaper for a limited budget) However I get a bit muddled with the angles! Will keep trying after your great tutorial.
Oh my! This tape is revolutionary for me! Thank you. As a 50 year old with ageing very hooded eyes i've been struggling with wings but this will change everything.
I just saw your video and tried the tape trick today to make wings. Before, i always failed making eye wings.. with your tips, my eyes looks so cute but gorgeous. I love my overall make up. Thanks so much.. you're an angel 😊 xoxo
I have really hooded eyes so its tough to get the winged look right. This was so helpful! Bought the Sephora tape today and tried it. A few more practice rounds needed but I’ll get it!
Do you do your eyeliner before or after eyeshadow? And does it matter if the shadow is a cream or powder? I would think a cream shadow would have to go on first.
Hello Stephanie Marie 😊Loved your tutorial. You made it a lot easier to do a smoky winged look without the guessing on it. Whenever I did the eyeliner without the tape I always ended up with thicker liner on top. Also, thanks for demonstrating the new kiss no glue lash at the end of the eyelash. I bought the new kiss no glue about a months ago but kept dropping the eyelash in the floor and had already given up until I saw your video. It really made a difference on my eye look💕
Thanks for the lash tutorial, they look beautiful and natural. It says on the site they can be reused a few times. Is that your experience, and also how do you remove without damaging them or your own lashes? I agree that the tape works nicely as the under eye shadow protectors take more time with having to peel off all the pieces. Also the reusable silicone one is a nice option, depends on my mood. Thanks for the lovely overall look tutorial ❤
I haven't tried to use them more than once. I always remove by starting to remove my makeup as I normally do with my cleansing balm...after a couple of seconds, they just come right off. I then keep removing my makeup. :) I have peeled them off before and they remove pretty well without taking off any lashes too. But I prefer to remove all my lashes by starting with cleansing balm because it's easier on them
There are different degrees of hooded eyes - full and partial. Heavy and moderate. I have partially hooded lids where you can see lid space but you cannot see what I put in my crease unless I raise my brows - because my hood is heavy. I also have a fold that goes below the outer corner of my eye because of that heaviness. Also it’s ok for people to show techniques that can work for others who may be more hooded than they are. We’re all trying to help make everyday makeup a little bit easier ya know?
I never thought about that, but it would work perfectly since it would stick down and peel off nicely! The sephora tape reminds me of it a lot actually! Nice suggestion!!
