The Eyewitness to History video library was created to enable audiences everywhere to hear firsthand testimony from Holocaust survivors. This video was created from a live digital program recorded on April 14, 2021. It featured Holocaust survivor Peter Feigl, who in May 1944, waited for his chance to run to freedom after years spent hiding from the Nazis in France. When the dogs barked, signaling a Nazi guard change at the French border, the Jewish teenager sprinted amid gunfire toward neutral Switzerland.

Song of Solomon 1:5-6 I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

Of all the survivors' testimonies, this one above all others has the most impact on me in what has become a never-ending journey of educating myself on the Shoah. At 92 he remains a great man, a witness to history, someone who narrates his story in a language (after German & French) that is not his mother tongue yet has mastered and put to use for the noblest of reasons.

Thanks be to God for your survival! My heart cries for the loss of innocent human beings, hated for their race. When we use and misuse racism today, we insult all the true victims of racism. I listened to the story trembling and scared about the next steps. What the nazis did, was pure EVIL! May God bless you, Peter, and all those who survived the most horrific and heinous Crimes in the History of Humanity!

United States will prevail, Democracy will prevail, We The People will prevail. This mass hysteria called Trumpism will be seen for what it is because it has no heart. Perhaps the conspiracy theories will implode upon themselves.
@janeforst8464
@janeforst8464 2 года назад
@@charlienelson1946 I completely agree with you. The era of trumpism is bound to crash and burn. It has no foundation and it's led by a man who is shallow, uncaring, and only in it for himself. trump could care less about his followers and only sees them as how much money are they going to give him. Eventually when they get nothing in return, they'll look elsewhere for their leadership. Those followers are, for the most part, like trump - not too bright. They're sheeple, they are only capable of following. .

The scapegoating parallels to 45 are chilling. Hurting and uneducated people will jump onboard with anyone who insists they have the answer, and offers up someone to blame. People don't change, regardless of the time or place. The vigilance of those who know better is always needed. I'm so glad Peter made it out alive. I'm so sorry for everything he went through. Avoiding the camps doesn't mean escaping the Nazis' horror.
@janeforst8464

My thoughts exactly about trump. The insurrection on January 6th was a prime example of it. Many of those involved in that chaos said they were there because trump asked them to be. What did they really think was going to happen? A peaceful lovefest when they brought weapons? As Peter spoke about the violent outcome of the Nazis, I have to think maybe he was thinking about today's mess created by trump and his deranged followers.

Thank you for the upload. Such a nice man. And able to tell the story without modifying the way he thought at that time. He mentioned the Swiss made Identity card with his "Mug Shot". It would have been interesting to show it in the video. He talked about the Gurs Camp in France. This reminded me that I also bought years ago a diary of a German woman who ended up there. She described very well what happened before and after the Germans arrived. In particular the changing attitude of certain Ladies married to Jews who somehow "opted" for the separation from their spouses. And return to Germany. I forgot a little bit about this diary but thanks to this nice gentleman I shall consider to get it translated and maybe publish something about the story at least on youtube.. so easy. Therefore I add my thanks here also for the reminder and inspiration.

Thank you so much for sharing with me an infamous fragment of the Hitler's Nazi horrendous regimen via you story. It must be a very sad odyssey to recount it. The crimes and cruelties committed against my sons and daughters, my fathers and mothers, my brothers and sisters hurt me deeply, regardless their ethnicity and nationality. In Isaiah 2: 4, Jehovah God, the Creator and Source of life, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, promises: "He will be judge among the nations and will settle matters in relation to many peoples. They will turn their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. The nations will no longer raise their swords against each other and learn no more to wage war." My immediate neighbors are Jews and I am a Jehovah's Witness. Their hearts are superior than pure gold by far. They are extremely kind. The gentleman takes care of my trash can every Wednesday without my asking him to do so. They are lovely human beings, and they are not in need of the smallest improvement.
