I saw a guy put it on the handle. Then he grabbed it and his hand covered it up. I just ordered a couple EZ spouts. Tired of my "safety" spout leaking gas all over my mower.

Step drills work best in plastic. Twist drills tend to grab and screw themselves into the plastic, leaving a jagged hole that's guaranteed to leak. And spade bits are for cavemen.....don't be that guy. You can mark the step drill bit with a red sharpie on the next size above the hole you're aiming for to help prevent over-drilling it.

Use a little bead of "Seal-All" adhesive to make it 100% leakproof. It is oil AND gasoline resistant.

@@edmondlau511 Most hardware stores should have it, or order it online. It comes in a yellow tube, one or two ounces. Sometimes it's in the adhesives section, but I've also found it in the automotive section. It smells like vinyl swimming pool patch adhesive, but it is oil AND gasoline proof.

It's always better to drill a pilot hole just to be safe.

When you pour won't the vent be covered by gas. It seems that you should put it on the slope surface.. just asking for a friend.

I haven't had any problems with it so far I was just trying to keep the vent off of a seem because it will crack. You can always use a tire valve stem as a vent if you remove the Schrader valve.

It’s supposed to be a 31/64 inch hole. Not a 1/2 inch hole. That is 1/64 inch smaller hole than 1/2 inch. It will be a little difficult to get the vent cap inserted into the gas can with the smaller hole, but that will ensure that the vent cap doesn’t leak.

Just another product with a smooth-brained idiot for a designer. Design it for a 1/2" hole so the user doesn't have to locate a 31/64" bit. Duh.....Must be the same idiot that designed the battery holder for my Seadoo jetski. It is literally the worst designed battery hold down that I gave ever seen, and I have seen a lot of bad ones.

if you put the vent where you said how is your can going to vent with fuel there? There's a reason you never saw a manufacturer back when it was legal put a vent where you put yours.

I would not drill into a metal gas can unless you purge the gas fumes by filling it up with water first, or you'll wind up in the hospital. You are better off just getting a plastic can if you're gonna do all that work. Thanks for watching. I hope this helps! Please like and subscribe

You shouldn't but, if you have to for some life or death reason, make sure its a brush less drill so there isn't an ignition source.
