EZ Wheel Changes - Makita XAG26 X Lock Grinder Review [BRUSHLESS] 

I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read ru-vid.comUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.

I like how effective it is. i just never like the situation of needing a specific blade that is designed specifically for that unit. Sometimes if you happen to run out of blades and need to run to the local place especially in this case if they didn't carry X lock than you're pretty much out of luck. I like the speed and ease of how fast you can drop the blade and get a new one on. just hopefully gets standardized for a bunch of brands so then it will be more popular. until then i just have two grinders at my work bench with different types of blades so its pretty fast to switch between them. but obviously this is an amazing looking tool !

Thank you for the excellent demo of how to put the angle grinder together. The little booklet that comes with the tool (or most tools) don't give enough detail for me. I was so frustrated by trying to move the black metal protector to the desired position. Your sentence, "push it down to turn," solved my proglem because otherwise it could only be used in one ( inconvenient) setting. You are a genius--or I am not.

In my trade I don't use a grinder that often but when I do it will not be a cordless but my Dewalt cordless grinder. However I like the idea that the X Lock grinding wheels are cheaper there X Lock grinding wheels only from here on out.

It’s a great tool. Like a fool I returned mine because there was something wrong with the 4ah battery that came with the kit.

I have one and it’s still brand new because I can’t find stupid disk anywhere! It’s b.s don’t buy it until they start selling the disk every where , or if they price the disk ridiculously cheap online to where it’s worth buying one. Other then that never buy or you’ll have decoration grinder that never gets used

Dewalt dcg413 flathead has best guard design hands down. Even better then dewalt other grinders. The guard can be removed even if a wheel is on it. Love it Edit: only the flathead has this even the normal dcg413 doesn't have it

Same as starlock on multi tools. Good idea.. some loves it most hate it because of the lack of availability of blades/wheel. Can’t go to harbor freight and get some cheap wheels.

I can't even find an adapter to convert to traditional, because here the availability of heads and cutting discs is really bad, and some times they get expensive. I wish I have gotten the traditional grinder with paddle switch and no X-Lock instead.

Would like to see X-Lock on their 40 volt grinder.

Bosch invented the x lock. They licensed it to makita and other companies.

I got the makita angle grinder for free. I’m going to try to return it or sell it on Craigslist. Never will use this. Hopefully can sell it for an oscillating tool

Who makes the xlock wood wheels!? Does ANYONE!?

I don’t like the x lock, is very inconvenient, is hard to find cutting blades or sand disk etc and what they have in stock is more expensive almost double, I’m gonna return mine is case If don’t find an attachment for the regular 5/8 bolt, instead of that they should place a variable switch on it.

It's a great tool but far to heavy

All of the sudden I'm seeing all these Makita xlocks for sale on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace did the research and two things wrong with this is that Mickey mouse lock blade system looks real iffy and the availability of getting x-lock discs from any brand is a joke there's only two or three available if that, nobody wants the Makita xlocks and the regular Makita cordless grinder is all sold out at home Depot and elsewhere , all the reviews on the Makita cordless x lock are bad

So stupid to limit yourself with only one type of disk. Took mine back.

You don't need tools to change a wheel now. I've been using 4 1/2 inch grinders for 25 years. If you hand tighten the disk you can also loosen it by hand. There is no need to tighten the shit out of a disk with the wrench they give you. I am a makita fan boy but this is unnecessary
