He knowingly chose to pursue NFL football which only has 32 employers and only a handful of them need an employee with his job skills in any given year. I have been saying for months that the NFL salary scales are messed up and should be changed in the next collective bargaining agreement. If the system was working, there wouldn't be so many holdouts and salary renegotiations. I have been on Zeke's side from the beginning. He is the most valuable player on the Cowboys but he is not being paid like it. The crux of the salary problem in the NFL is INJURY. Jadaveon Clowny makes about $16 million a year, but he is holding out. He has been injured quite a bit in his career, but it is his time to negotiate a new contract. He wants a long-term contract. Now I think he is a top 10-15 best defensive linemen in the league, but I would not pay him guaranteed long term money because I can't rely on him playing in games week in and week out. Paying a player $1.5 million a month while he is rehabbing an injury on the bench is not a formula for winning.

But man, he's the best running back in the league imo. I see why u guys dont wana pay him, bc of his mishaps/issues off the field, but dude we seen this with Jerry Jones before with Emmitt Smith in the late 90s. The thing I can't understand is how people try and blame this on Jerry Jones this is an about Jerry Jones this is a league issue. Do you want to stop the bitching and griping? Work this is the way a real union works. Every position has an entry level and then the mechanics level. Everyone at a position starts at the same rate and that rate increases each year until it maxes out at which point it stays at the maxed out rate until retirement. E.g. RB starts at 1 mil per and increases 25% for 3 years. It then maxes at 5 mil per with cost of living raises.

Derreck Pressley you obviously are not a union worker. Our middle class was built by unions. Don't get into a political discussion. I am talking about unions, not SOCIALISM. The NFL adopted unions to have strength against the wealthy owners. They built our middle class and this country. The players want the union without the even pay. They want the contract to protect them without having to hold up their end of it. Unions, in my opinion, do not work for such an application. Unions are all about teamwork where professional sports is all about, ironically, individualism. For unionism, not socialism, to work you can't pick and choose what parts of it to apply to your labor. Do a little reading about UNIONISM and you'll understand

Big brother is almost never wrong imo, but you don't contract to do something, then elect to back out without consequences. It won't happen, but I wish there a way for him neither to be paid the remainder of however much he signed for, nor play in the league until the end of the length of the contract. At which point, let him get what he can for his services. Meanwhile, no one is preventing him playing plying his trade in Canada, or anywhere else guys are paid money for football. Semi-pro, for example, the Johnny U had to do it back in the day. Giving in to his tearing up his contract sets the worst precedent EVER. Do you want your landlord going back on the contract you have with him/her that they provide heat in exchange for the rent money you pay? If he told you "well, the cost of heating fuel's gone up, so I've changed my mind about providing heat" you'd lose your mind--rightfully so. So please stop acting like you consider breaking contracts simply because you'd like something other than what you agreed to is a good idea--or a NOT-MONSTROUS one as far as it represents a precedent. The whole idea is insane.

@@zechrojas2202 Where did you get the idea that it isn't in the contract between them that teams can't cut players!? Who told you that!? It's part of what the players agree to to play in the NFL. They don't have to like it. They also don't have to play in the NFL. That, or they or their union can negotiate something different. It's the reason no team ever has been sued for cutting a player--EVER. It's part of the agreement. Change it, or live up to the agreement you've made.

@@zechrojas2202 The "heartless owners" lol?! Just like all of life as we know it, sports is a business. NFL owners SHOULD not be acting out of the goodness of their hearts if they're going to pay ALL the players, the concession stand workers, front office personnel, etc. What they're SUPPOSED to do is set up a system that turns their sport into the highest grossing sport in America so they can make more young black (and white and other) men richer than anything else most of them can do given the educations most of them bring to the table. And if Zeke can do something providing him a better income than the rookie contract for an NFL running back he should go get that. Meanwhile, NFL owners SEEM to know their business well enough that they've created tens of thousands of millionaire athletes the last 75 years. Sorry if Zeke feels he's made a mistake in his life, but no one thinks the position is worth that much these days. There's a lot of people to pay.

Oliver Lewis but he’s already been paid amounts that were more than he’s worth. If it is true that a player ought to be able to “force” a team to pay him more before his current contract is up because he has “outperformed his pay”, then the corresponding situation is that the team recoup money already paid to an underperforming player. Cutting the player doesn’t make up for having overpaid him. And if we say the team just has to deal with the fact they overpaid him, then the same principle says the player should just deal with the fact he’s not getting “what he’s worth”, yet.

To say that the owner or owner's have all the leverage is not fair. They have the money but the players are the product the owners sale. Anybody knows that as a business man in any business your company is only good as it's product (in this case the players). Ferrari's cost more that Corvettes though both are nice everybody knows the Ferrari is the better car. So you either pay (Zeke) for quality. Or someone else Corvette and be frugal. You will win more races with the Ferrari than the Vette. Pay the man Jerry

So first off the rookie deals should be 3 years with a 4th year option but honestly he’s made a lot being a first round pick as a running back. But honestly for me running backs really the only position paid correctly we’re talking about his QB making top money just because he’s next up that’s not how it should work the raiders paid too teir money for a tackle who wasn’t good but had one good year for the patriots the market is messed up for almost every position outside of running back honestly
