I don't find it strange at all that he ignored the doorbell. If I'm not expecting anyone, I don't answer the door either. Especially if I'm not fully dressed. No one who knows me is coming over unexpectedly.
! Totally! It's my choice if I want to answer MY door or not. I think it's really weird how that defense attorney badgered him about that and then him "hanging out in his underwear watching TV"! I was waiting for the prosecutor to object but then I realized he just let him go on about it because he wants to show how ridiculous this alleged defense is! 😊
I also thought it was ridiculous that the Defense Attorney was trying to make it sound really strange that he would not answer the door in his Boxers. And instead he just looked out the window, made eye contact with the woman standing there who he did not know and chose not to answer the door. went to the bathroom and then went upstairs in his “Boxers laid on the couch to watch TV.” The apartment building had an enclosed porch with a storm door on it. Which the roommate had made very clear but the defense attorney argued that he didn’t know that because he had never been there. Then he argued that he wasn’t going to argue. The roommate pretty much told him what was up! Lolol He’s a former Convict convicted 24 times. You think he’s going to be scared by your stupid questions. Laughable He got owned. It’s an Apartment building in Eau Claire Wisconsin. It’s an enclosed porch with a storm door then you have enter the enclosure to knock on the second door and you came unannounced, he’s in his Boxers and he didn’t recognize her. And your point is? He realized to late that he didn’t have one. What a Clown
And I think David made a great point on cross. He told that defense attorney, who was trying to make it seem incredulous that he didn’t answer the door, that it was an enclosed porch with a storm-door on it. So by opening that door and entering the porch and sitting on the couch. She had already entered the House basically and he wasn’t having it and wasn’t going to answer the door. I don’t even know where the attorney was going with this. He didn’t know her, he didn’t know Alex had been dating her and he wasn’t around when Jason or the Cops came. Geesh
I've never heard a Wisconsin accent like his. Are you sure he does not speak English as a second language? I am hearing a foreign accent in some words (not all).
@@heidih3048you can especially hear his Wisconsin accent when he pronounces words that have an ‘ou’ sound like “unannounced” “house” “about” “couch”; just one example. People from outside of this region would probably likely hear his accent and guess he was from Minnesota or Wisconsin and definitely not an ESL speaker.
@@burntpaperstars I do hear those characteristic aspects of the WI or MInnesota accent-- but some of the words -- only occasionally-- sound like there is some aspect of an Eastern European language accent of some kind. As if he grew up speaking another language as his main language, then moved to the WI area as a young adult, and has lost most of his former accent and is left mainly with the WI accent.
Have you ever been convicted of a crime? Yes. How many times? 24. That's good because in the peoples republic of Wisconsin you have to be convicted 25 times to lose all credibility. Excellant, dude.
My jaw dropped when he answered how many crimes he had been convicted of! I wanna know what his criminal history is now……kinda odd the DA asked the question then just moved on…..was that just to take away the witness’s credibility??
Unbelievable, along with that dumbass of an older boyfriend who says he doesn't keep track of his age. That poor kid was surrounded by fools but no one could know that a close friend would lash out with a knife in such a horrific way. Hard to fathom.@@kayleenkriner7297
I am by no means on the 'hate defence attorneys' bandwagon like some and do appreciate many are good people doing a necessary job, however this dude not understanding what the witness was saying about his events with Ezra at the door was immensely frustrating and made him seem like an ar5e.
Every American has the right to an attorney. If you were arrested, are we to believe you'd say, No Thanks and just wing it Pro Se like Darrell Brooks? You "hate" the defense lawyer because you are watching this after the fact, after Ezra got convicted and you hate HER and are projecting on her lawyer. The lawyers are simply doing their jobs.
This defense attorney is causing more harm to his case by badgering and leading these witnesses. Anyone with common sense can understand what the witness is trying to state. Defense attorney just keeps on and on trying to get the witness to agree what he wants them to say. I’ve watched a lot of these trials and I have never seen a defense attorney this bad. I can’t understand why the prosecutor isn’t objecting on the grounds of leading the witness or badgering. Every single witness so far has been frustrated or angry with the cross examination from this defense attorney. He gives me anxiety every time he opens his mouth with some demeaning comment then gives that cheesy smile. 🤢
You've answered your own question by describing how the defense attorney is making you feel. The jurors are likely getting the exact same impression. Why object when someone is doing damage to their own case just by speaking? The prosecution isn't going to waste time objecting to small things if more damage is done to the opposition by ignoring those things and letting the defense continue to be an asshole to witnesses.
The defense attorney is annoying af and I don’t like the judge either. He seems wishy washy, like he doesn’t know how to rule on objections. He gives off a lack of confidence in his rulings.
I’m surprised the defense team doesn’t get beat up on a regular basis with their cocky attitude. The judge seemed like he was paid by the defense most of the time
Thanks for posting these with all the great editing. I Just discovered this case through the Dreading RU-vid Channel. Gotta say, this is the most colorful, eccentric group of witnesses and players I've ever seen in a court case before. Yeesh.
This is so sad. And scary. It seems like she orchestrated all of this including the circus that is this trial, glowing even. Side note, there are so many interesting people involved with this trial. They all seem like they were casted for this.
I've only been aware of this quite recently (thanks to Dreading), and agree that there really are so many interesting characters. Including poor Alex himself who it seems made the world a better place for his very existence.
The defence attorney attempts several times to argue with the witnesses. He likes to put words into their mouths. His attempts to intimidate witnesses is laughable. He epitomises the slimy lawyer. Mr Davidson has made the point (several times) that Ezra was driving. Ezra's police statements make the point that she was driving. We KNOW that Ezra was driving! His police statement NEVER makes the point {as the defence tried to assert) that Mr. Davidson was unsure of who was driving.
and he keeps saying 'i'm not trying to attack' (when he is) and the witness isn't even appearing to feel attacked! he's trying to manipulate specific reactions by suggesting they feel attacked so they will respond by appearing defensive
This witness guy with 24 crimes on record... I am worried about myself because I am tempted to think he shows more common sense than many other witnesses.
Sometimes I don’t answer the door or answer the phone if I don’t want to get into a conversation. 🤷🏻♀️Know lots of people who wouldn’t either. Sometimes you want to be left in peace… especially if you’ve got a rare day off.
Is it the law that you have to answer the door every time someone knocks? And the defense attorney missed the part when he described the porch with the couch? Mr Steuding is a hoot!
It's funny that the male defense attorney...he can be pretty sloppy in how he asks questions. And when he gets caught in a mistake, and sometimes just randomly, he gets insulting with the witnesses.
@@catgiles3268 Agreed. He tries to bully witnesses into making false statements, and gets mad when they stick to their guns. It's like he doesn't realize a jury is watching.
At the beginning of this I was thinking ro myself that this dude is good at giving precise answers. Then he said that he's committed 24 crimes and it made a lot more sense. Hes answered questions in court before lol.
What is wrong with people speaking through objections.. Like even if you've never been in court someone else is yelling “objection” there's probably a reason for that. You can't tell me you've never watched a Hollywood movie before...
So, for the defense lawyer it was okay for David Steuding to use the term "anxious" but that same lawyer objected when Jason Mengel used the term "anxious" in response to the prosecutions questions because "he wasn't an expert". The defense lawyer thinks he is considerably more intelligent than he actually is and just seemed to enjoy trying to bellitle and humiliate the prosecutions witnesses.
I agree he’s a douche but in the Jason situation he implied he was a medic and his use of the word could be seen as a medical qualification of someone’s state of mind as a medical professional. But through and through a very scummy sounding defense lawyer.
I love that there is a bus driver and roommates, all sorts of people who saw Ezra on the day she decided to stab Alex to death so that he could never share his text messages with Jason. What sort of absolute dummy thinks she can get away with that? A total narcissist/psychopath, that's who.
No sé si ella pensaba matar Alex o era un plan b un poco a la desesperada. Yo creo que ella pensó que lo convencería y al no lograrlo ejecutó algo que no había planificado demasiado bien como es evidente.
Daggumit. Mr. Davidson was the last person to see Alex moments before his killing apart from his murderer Ezra--and with her. That'll sit heavy on his heart the rest of his life.
Not sure what the defense attorney is trying to accomplish here with these witnesses. His direction is accusatory and annoying probably attempting to raise doubt. However, it sounds more like he’s trying to throw cover over the defendant.
We lived with other people in a house, each party had a room. When the doorbell rang I would never answer bc our friends would text us and say “I’m downstairs can u open?” Why shd I answer the door for other people? Maybe the person doesn’t want to have a visitor? Not strange at all.
Good grief! The defense attorney is treating this witness like he's on criminal trial for not answering his front door 🙄 Dear Mr. Defense attorney, MANY people dont answer their door to a stranger knocking at it. If his roommate was expecting someone he would have answered it, otherwise, nope! Pretty common for people to have decent manners and first let the person know before showing up at their house. But, Ezra wasnt polite or had decent manners.
@@jennyobrien849 If I hear an unexpected knock at the door I start quietly "army crawling" and hiding 😂 OK, maybe that's an exaggeration, lol, but my husband and I both look at eachother with surprise Pikachu face and stay quiet and frozen till the unannounced door knocker gives up and retreats 😂
@@Winter-Lake haha I’m the same. This defence attorney is really annoying me trying to get every witness to agree with him. I’m only on the video with the old man who called 911. I feel so bad for him. I’m loving this trial. Glad I found it to watch while the courts are closed
@rasberryfields2132 My sis-in-law has a sign by her front door that states, "We know who we are voting for, we have found Jesus, we like our vacuum. Unless you had the courtesy to let us know to expect you, don't you dare knock or ring the bell." 😄 My friends & family know me well enough, respect & love me enough to call/text 1st first and ASK if it's an okay time to come over 😄
There'd no way this man has 24 convictions does he mean he was 24 when it happend because that's insane wtf is he like a career criminal it's confusing
Makes a change from stabbings in East London, at least. Good to know that the world is the same over. Different places different people, same problems.
29 minutes in. McCandless couldn't seem less interested in all the people around her who are trying to save her pitiful ass from the destruction she caused, out of nothing, to the one person who probably loved her unconditionally and she just wanted to destroy. And, all the collateral damage to those in her orbit.
