As a black man of 67 years, I had your same reaction 51 years ago! I heard the jazz, the blues, and the balls to wall rock! One of my chief regrets is not seeing them live as a young man. Zep was no joke.So glad you get it.

Nice reply, I actually had tickets reserved for they're 1981 In Through The Outdoor tour in Los Angeles California, and the day the date was set John Bonham died. I've pretty much seen everybody else that was in Rock and Roll history, but I really really regret not ever being able to see Led Zeppelin live, they were monumental for everything that came after them. growing up not too far from the Mississippi Delta I got to see all the blues artists, but Led Zeppelin would have been the crown jewel.

I had tickets to the first time I wanted to see them, but had to work, so I sold them. Robert Plant’s son died so the next tour was cancelled. John Bonham then died and Led Zep ended. I’m just grateful I got to hear their music when it first came out.

Hard to believe this album was recorded on 4 track analogue. It still sounds good. And that jazz/blues also is a "forever" sound. It sounds as cool to us now as it did to folks in 1969.

This is a combination/medley of 2 or 3 blues songs. FYI, the "schoolgirl" line was a common theme in music at the time (she's my "little girl", she's my "baby", etc.). Jimmy uses the bow on his guitar on this song as well. Led Zeppelin was well known for their improvisation and Robert would often sing bits and pieces of other songs during a performance. Here's the links for a couple of good performances of this song. The first is from their Denmark concert in 1969 (which I mentioned before) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zE-JQzj2aEA.html And here's one from their concert in 1970 from the Royal Albert Hall ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h9G3QeFPe8Y.html (click in the description and go to the 43:15 time stamp)

What happened to music? There are no bands like this anymore. 50 years of progress, but Led Zeppelin is still the best rock band of all time. I never believed they would hold that title this long, but it might be forever. I wish we could see 200 years from now.
@jamesaron1967
@jamesaron1967 Год назад
Well, for one thing, there are no bands like this because there _never_ was another band like this, even during Zeppelin's hey day when there were many other bands to compete with. Zeppelin was king and retained a special uniqueness seldom equalled and never surpassed.. The main reasons for the eclipse of rock bands however, are the advent of electronic-based music primarily that employs computer-generated sounds, and secondly, the dominance of hip hop the past quarter century. As the boomer and gen X generations who grew up on rock music grow old and their numbers steadily diminish, the audience for this music will correspondingly decrease. It's unfortunate but nothing lasts forever.

Agreed. I don't know why people sleep on this one so much. Maybe because it switches up so much and it's so trippy and kind of dark that some people get turned off by it, I don't know...but shit, it's got drums, solos, grooves, texture, ambience, everything. What more can you want? Definitely in my top 5 LZ songs.

The "I've got a little school girl" is probably from some traditional blues. Robert borrowed alot of cliches from blues stuff. The Yardbirds (previous band that Jimmy was in) even had a song called "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl"... which doesn't sound good... but they were young lads... 🙄
@dreamweaver1603
@dreamweaver1603 3 года назад
Jimmy Page had a groupie girl he always hung out with when he was in America who I believe was 14 at the time. I read about it in a biography. Times were definitely different back then. Even the movie Almost Famous talks about how most of those groupies were underage.
@thatoneguyagain2252
@thatoneguyagain2252 3 года назад
Jimmy Page wasn't a member of the Yardbirds yet when they recorded "Good Morning Little Shoolgirl". The Yardbirds song takes its title (and not much else) from another song with the same name, recorded by Howlin' Wolf.

This is their first album, you've got the rest of their catalog to listen to, l'm so jealous, you're in for such a treat 🤟😜

My first music purchase was the albums, Led Zepplin and Led Zepplin II. Back in 1969. I was 13 at the time! I love every song on both albums! I was trying to find the song, "Whole Lotta Love", but didn't know the title of the song. I knew it was by Led Zepplin, so I bought both albums. Back then the only Led Zepplin song that got airplay on the radio, was "Whole Lotta Love". Well, I fell deeply in love with both albums. I have a large collection of Led Zepplin still today!

The way I hear, “I got a little school girl, and she’s all mine,” is that in his eyes, the mother of his ten children is still the beautiful young girl he fell in love with (“I had to kiss her right there and then”) years ago.

I like this format for Led Zeppelin. The tracks all stand on their own and doing them individually means more videos and more focus on each song. Way different than Pink Floyd where the whole album is a story that gets blurred when you listen to it piecemeal.

You said it dude! I play drums and this had to be the best drum pattern of all time! It’s click perfect, and clicks were not used in 1969! Nice one mate
