The F-104J is a really similar experience to this, with a similar loadout at 10.7, except once anyone sees you, you will die. You get 0 countermeasures, so if you’re not going Mach or faster, any 9Ls, R60s, or any of the better ir missiles is certain death.
To the history lesson at the start: The F104G Starfighter named Wittwenmacher (Widowmaker) or Erdnagel (peg) was one of the most lethal planes used by the german Luftwaffe, it killed 116 pilots while in service, Also, a german pilot was given the objective of delivering a lifesaving medication to a hospital to save a little girl ( I think that was in Italy, correct me if im wrong) while really bad flight conditions where occuring on that specific day. The pilot still delivered the medication even though he was flying a plane nicknamed widowmaker in the probably worst weather conditions a pilot can face. If I got something wrong you can correct me if you want ;)
the Olympus camo is a ceremonial from the retirement of the type in the HAF from the 336 fighter squadron.. the same and for the Tiger(335 figher squadron) camo in the us 104.. the 104 star fighter is a high altitude high speed interceptor fighter ... it was called widow maker.. for the reason that many people died with that type........ the less looses with the type in a span of 30 years was the HAF that manage to not loose as many as the other operators.... the 104 at the beginning of it carrier had a under eject seat.. non conventional.. cause of the tail.. after some accidents start to get/upgrate to the new 0-0 seat we know to day in the airplanes.. and was special made for the type .. had more juice in the boosters.. cause of the tail...
It was only called Widowmaker by the Germans, cause they had more losses of the plane then everyone else that used it combined They continued to try to use it as a strike aircraft instead of what it was designed for It was the failure of the German Air-force that they had so many losses They wouldn’t adapt their strategies and use cases for the airframe, instead just letting pilots slam into the ground A great airframe for its design, a short range, high altitude interceptor
Personally I think if you hate the easy pilot blackout so bad you won’t enjoy the ariete, you can pull 9G for 2 seconds with max crew and still lose controll
Is it better to talisman and fly this ( the ita version) at 10.7 or the ASA at 11.3? Almost feels its better to have 6 aim9j but better matchmaking than being constantly asswiped by f16 and f14
None of the above. Since you mentioned the Italian tree... the F104S is the best one to talisman. It's superior to the F104G thanks to a better engine and even the ability to carry two AIM-7E's, which are insanely fun. No one expects a Starfighter to start slinging SARH's... Anyway, it's also best to talisman since it's going to be going up to Rank VII (but keep its BR), so it will be useful for researching Rank VIII in the very near future. It's also pretty good for grinding events, since it can carry enough bombs (1x2000lb+2xNapalm) to fully destroy a base without hurting its A2A loadout at all, and its fast enough to beat everything else to the bases.
Thanks :) I think i meant the S too cause the other one has only 2 missiles, but i never flew death pencils so I messed up. Are you sure its going to rank 7? That would be great, no point in the premium f104 then :D
Does the Italian one (104S) have countermeasures? I would talisman the one that has, not the one before. I have played the German one thoroughly, I really really like it
@@Hawkeye_Myhawk Absolutely! Also, yes, it's been confirmed that the F104S is going to be moving up to Rank 7. It was posted by Stona on the official forums on December 13, and at that time he said it would happen "after 30 days", so should be within the next few days. On another note, the F104S is really fantastic. Ludicrous speed and acceleration, excellent climb rate, numerous missiles including a couple of good SARH's if you want, and a decent number of countermeasures make it deadly. Just remember, you're basically flying a manned missile. Don't turn, don't dogfight, don't be slow. Dive down on the enemy from space, unleash a flurry of AIM-9J's, and then speed away at Mach 1.5 before anyone even realizes they're under attack. Its speed will keep you alive... It really is incredibly fun to fly, and it's absolutely my favorite high tier jet at the moment, even dethroning the F-8E, which I also love.
@@javispiq01 The F104S got countermeasures as of Apex Predators. It didn't have them before then, which was its major weakness. With that, I think it's become the best starfighter for its BR. An upgraded engine over the G, 6 A2A missiles (+SARH missiles), a good bomb loadout, and sufficient countermeasures. It's really incredible to fly and easily my favorite high tier jet at the moment...
Wair a second why the heck does the german and italian F104G has radar while the chinese one not? All 3 of them are 10.7.....I know it has the terrible AIM-7Es while the other two hasn't but flares are the king of high tier.
F14 is fine just fly really low to the ground. You will avoid the bvr missle spam then cam engage. F14 engines are super hot so you can lock on and missle them pretty easily.
Tankenstein my results came back I’m seizure disorder free :D I’m so happy happy new year let’s hope this new year is good getting back on war thunder I can play one game each day I’m being careful so happy
If you wanna record those other games and then voice over them. I wouldn't care, as long as we see a good game and have some good learning opportunities.
This one is a few months old. I've got like 20 videos uploaded and ready for release. There were so many things to happen in War Thunder in the last few months that it impeded me from releasing them all in a timely manner
Not true. About 2.5 minutes into the actual gameplay (4:35 or so), there is a kill, though I had a missile hit an enemy a few milliseconds after an ally hit and killed that same enemy earlier in the video.
